Abstract

This study aims to analyze the economic opportunities of paying zakat al-fitr with rice instead of money. As known, the school of Maliki, Shafi’i and Hanbali states that zakat al-fitr can only be paid in the form of staple foods for the local community, in contrast to Imam Hanafi who allows zakat al-fitr with money. This study applies an exploratory method. The results show that based on the rice supply chain, zakat al-fitr with rice creates economic opportunity namely potential of zakat al-fitr rice procurement, rice supply chain added value, selling special package of zakat al-fitr rice, farm worker empowerment, engagement of supply chain support, application of salam contracts and collection of zakat on agricultural products. These results imply that loss of economic opportunities occurs when Muslims pay zakat al-fitr with money instead of rice. This study recommends that paying zakat with staple food can enhance the sustainable socio-economic growth of the ummah.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the buyback guarantee regulatory system and the buyback guarantee working mechanism until the bank makes a buyback guarantee claim to the developer. This research also aims to review buyback guarantee from Islamic perspective. The research method used is qualitative research using closed interviews and observation methods. Based on the research results, the developer has the criteria for potential partners to be able to work together and make agreement rules for both parties and the risks that will be experienced by the Customer, Bank, and Developer. The developer can make an effort before the bank makes a buyback guarantee claim to remind the customer that payment obligations at the bank are in arrears. In Islamic sharia perspective, the buyback guarantee is permitted provided that it is an option, not an obligation. The buyer may sell either to the first seller or another person. This provision is to avoid the prohibited bai’ al-'inah, which leads to prohibited riba transaction. Other Islamic solutions are debt restructuring (rescheduling) and postponement of the debt payment. The research is expected to give Islamic solution before buyback guarantee is executed

Abstract

The high rates of illiteracy, both in Latin script and in the Arabic script of the Qur'an, pose a major challenge to strengthening religious literacy within minority Muslim communities, particularly in remote areas such as Sioban Village in the Mentawai Islands. This community service project aims to enhance Qur'anic reading skills among illiterate community members through the application of a community-based Service Learning model, utilizing the talaqqi-tahsin approach, contextual learning, and the reinforcement of religious character. The methods employed included intensive training sessions, experience-based repetition, and the active involvement of local leaders and families. The results of the program indicate that approximately 40% of participants were able to independently read basic Qur'anic text, alongside a significant increase in self-confidence and religious participation. These findings suggest that a community- and person-centered approach is effective in addressing religious literacy challenges in marginalized communities. It is hoped that this program can serve as an implementable model for Qur'anic illiteracy eradication initiatives in other remote areas with similar characteristics.

Employing a quantitative research method, the study involved all 30 employees of PT BPRS Attaqwa as a saturated sample. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through hypothesis testing (t-test and F-test). The findings indicate that leadership style positively and significantly affects employee performance. Similarly, work discipline also has a positive and significant impact on employee performance. Furthermore, leadership style and work discipline simultaneously exert a positive and significant influence on employee performance. These results imply that management should prioritize both effective leadership development and the continuous enhancement of work discipline to optimize employee performance. Abstract

This study explores the legal foundations and operational mechanisms of sharia-compliant stock trading in Indonesia. Using a normative juridical and qualitative approach, it examines how Islamic principles—particularly the prohibitions of riba, gharar, and maisir—are applied in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Findings show that stock trading is permissible in Islam when conducted under contracts such as musyarakah and mudharabah, and regulated through fatwas like DSN-MUI No. 80/2011. The Sharia Online Trading System (SOTS) ensures compliance by prohibiting margin trading and short selling. Distinctions from conventional trading lie in sharia screening, real asset backing, and ethical restrictions. This research concludes that Indonesia’s Islamic capital market offers a viable halal investment platform. It recommends enhancing public literacy, transparency in screening criteria, and consistent enforcement to support ethical investing aligned with Islamic law.

Abstract

This study critically examines the distribution of zakat al-fitr as business capital for cattle farming from the perspective of Islamic law and maqashid shariah. The main focus lies in the potential misalignment between the long-term productive use of zakat and the immediate, consumptive nature of zakat al-fitr, which must be distributed before the Eid prayer. Using a qualitative approach, this research applies textual analysis of Islamic legal sources and comparative fiqh to evaluate the practice. The findings reveal that while productive zakat may be valid for zakat mal, its application to zakat al-fitr contradicts the objective of thum’atan lil masakin (feeding the poor) and the principle of taʿjil (prompt distribution). Investment schemes like cattle farming require time to yield benefits, making them incompatible with the urgent spiritual and social function of zakat al-fitr. Therefore, the study concludes that such practice diverges from its maqashid and recommends zakat al-fitr be distributed in a consumable form to the needy on Eid day. This distinction is crucial for ensuring that zakat al-fitr fulfills its intended socio-spiritual role while empowering communities through other Islamic philanthropic instruments.

Abstract

Sharia economic literacy has not touched much on the practice of illicit buying and selling in contemporary financial transactions. Based on a preliminary survey as well as the request of community leaders, a community service activity that carries out literacy on the said subject is needed to be conducted. The method used is Service-Learning which provides an active learning model, the method of which is not only face-to-face lectures but also provides a sense of responsibility of presentations as part of society. This activity involved 71 participants, of which 51 out of 71 were willing to fill out the questionaire. The result shows that this community service activity has helped participants in understanding prohibited buying and selling in contemporary transactions. The presentation on Sharia provisions in buying and selling improved the awareness and knowledge of illicit transactions. Referring to the activity evaluation, this community service is beneficial, being reflected by the improvement of participants' comprehension and the increased level of literacy before and after the program.
