Abstract

Jellyfish are marine invertebrates belonging to the phylum Cnidaria. Papua Mastigias is a jellyfish from the Scyphozoa class. This study aims to observe differences in the differences in environmental parameters, morphology and shape of nematocyte cells using the histological method with (SEM) Scanning Electron Microscopy on Papua Mastigias jellyfish in the Kakaban Lake and Sea. Environmental parameters in Lake Kakaban and Sea Kakaban were measured for salinity, temperature, and pH. The results of the t-test analysis showed that there were significant differences in environmental parameters in Lake Kakaban and Sea Kakaban (p <0.05). Body diameter and length of jellyfish tentacles were measured and analyzed using SPSS 16 with a t-test. From the t-test analysis, results showed that for Mastigias Papua jellyfish in Lake Kakaban and jellyfish in the Kakaban Sea showed a significant difference in the diameter and length of the body tentacles (p <0.05). The SEM results of jellyfish in the Kakaban Sea showed that the tentacles of Mastigias Papua in the Kakaban Sea had nematocytes consisting of three forms, namely Microbasic isorhiza, Atrichouz isorhiza, and Merotrichous isorhiza. Mastigias Papua in Lake Kakaban has nematocyst cells, which comprise of one type, namely Microbasic mastigophoran, where the number of nematocytes is minimal and has a smaller size than the Papuan Mastigias jellyfish that live in the Kakaban Sea. Nemeatocyte cells are stinging cells in jellyfish. SEM results show that the jellyfish in Lake Kakaban cannot sting because the size of the jellyfish tentacles is reduced to smaller, fewer nematocyte cells and different shape nematocytes. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there are differences in environmental parameters, body dimensions, tentacle length, and the size and number of nematocytes between Mastigias Papua jellyfish in Dunau and in the Kakaban Sea.

Abstract

Omega 6 is a group of plural unsaturated fatty acids and includes esential fatty acids because is cannot be producet by the body. The unsaturated chain (doubel bond) in the first omega 6 is found in the 6th carbon chain, and therefore it is called omega 6. Student learning achievements both in coastal and urban areas must be the same. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of consumption of omega 6 on learning achievements of grade 1 elementary school student in coastal and urban areas. This research used analytical research methods with cross sectional design. The population in this study was all grade 1 elementary school student in SDN 032 Amal Lama with 27 students and all grade 1 students in SDN 015 Kampung Enam with 27 students. Samples were taken using the totality population technique with a total of 54 people. The Chi-Square test obtained the value of P in the coastal area was 0.48, which was < 0.05, and in the urban area was 0.24 which was < 0.05, H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted which mean that there was an influence of omega 6 consumption of omega 6 unsaturated fatty acids was not the only major factor in the effect of learning achievement of grade 1 elementary school children in coastal and urban areas. Other factors such as the environment and education of parents also supported in increasing student achievement and in providing information and knowledge to students.

Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) is one of the freshwater commodities that is favored because of its high economic value, rich in protein, can be cultivated in narrow land or yards and of course much in demand by the public. Efforts to develop in cultivation continue to be made, including an increase in seed production. The purpose of this activity is to provide training to partners in this case are students of the Department of Fisheries Cultivation, SMKN 1 Sebatik Barat regarding the semi-artificial spawning system (injection mating) and enrichment of feed with turmeric flour to support increased production and quality of catfish seeds. The methods used are socialization and counseling with lectures, hands-on practice related to injecting mating techniques with ovaprim hormone and making feed enriched with turmeric flour. The results of the activity showed an increase in partner knowledge regarding the benefits of turmeric and the role of hormone use in hatchery activities. In addition, partners have also been able to select gonadally mature broodstock, make feed enriched with turmeric flour and perform injection mating of catfish with hormones appropriately. The hope for follow-up is that partners can apply the techniques that have been learned for hatchery activities so that the scarcity of seeds, especially in West Sebatik, can be overcome and no longer have to bring in from outside

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of impaired growth and development in children caused by chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections. Posyandu cadres, as community health representatives, play a critical role in providing health education, delivering basic services, expanding healthcare access in remote areas, and raising public awareness of healthy lifestyles. Strengthening their knowledge and skills is therefore essential. This program aimed to enhance cadres’ competencies in producing cookies made from Moringa oleifera flour, Banggai sweet potato flour, and soybean flour. The implementation comprised several stages: situational analysis with community partners, obtaining authorization from local government, preparing tools and materials, conducting socialization activities, delivering cadre education and training sessions, followed by monitoring and evaluation. Pre-test results revealed low baseline knowledge, categorized as poor (5%), fair (70%), and good (25%). After the intervention, knowledge improved significantly to poor (0%), fair (15%), and good (85%), indicating a 60% overall increase. In addition, cadres gained practical skills in processing moringa, Banggai sweet potato, and soybean flours, as well as developing cookies derived from these local ingredients. In conclusion, the training program substantially improved cadres’ knowledge and practical skills, particularly in formulating innovative supplementary foods based on local food resources, thereby supporting community-based efforts to prevent stunting.
