Abstract

Is there a correlation between reciprocal workers and higher returns to employer-sponsored training? The study employed a field experiment that utilized random assignment to training, along with the collection of survey data on workers' reciprocal tendencies. The findings of the study indicate that workers who exhibit reciprocal behavior are more likely to reciprocate their employers’ expenditures in training by demonstrating higher levels of performance after completing the training program. The findings of this study remain consistent even after accounting for observed personality traits and worker-fixed effects. These results indicate that individuals respond to the firm's investment in human capital by exerting greater effort, aligning with theoretical models that propose a reciprocal relationship between gift exchange in the workplace. This discovery offers an alternate justification for corporate training investments, notwithstanding the potential danger of employee poaching.

Abstract

Economic development is often misinterpreted as merely financial growth and infrastructure expansion. However, the real essence of development lies in a multidimensional approach that incorporates social, cultural, and spiritual aspects, particularly within an Islamic context. This study explores the acculturation of Mataraman cultural traditions with Islamic values, focusing on Bersih Desa and Nyadran practices in Mataraman, Indonesia. Employing an ethnographic approach, data were gathered through observations and interviews with local stakeholders. The study examines how these traditions, initially influenced by Hinduism, have evolved to integrate Islamic teachings, thereby fostering community welfare, environmental stewardship, and social harmony. Results reveal that these practices align with Islamic principles of self-development, collective human prosperity, and the earth's stewardship. They demonstrate that local wisdom, when harmonized with religious values, contributes significantly to economic growth, social cohesion, and sustainable development. The findings underscore the importance of cultural preservation and propose that these traditions be promoted as cultural tourism assets, which could further enhance local economies. Future research is recommended to analyze the broader implications of Mataraman wisdom within the maqashid al-shariah framework.

Abstract

The language learning process promotes inclusivity by accounting for differences in intelligence regarding English as a foreign language between male and female pupils, which has a direct impact on their proficiency in language acquisition. The present study examines the gender-based disparity in language acquisition, concentrating on the English language competence of secondary school pupils. By examining the correlation between gender identity and English learning outcomes, this study seeks to fill a knowledge deficit regarding the inclusiveness of the language learning process. The researchers apply feminist stylistics and systemic functional linguistics to the analysis of written text products of high school pupils, which were gathered as part of an extensive data collection effort. Utilizing this analysis, they investigate how texts are constructed and scrutinize the impact of gender on the selection of linguistic structures. The results obtained from this research enhance our comprehension of disparities in language acquisition based on gender and provide valuable perspectives for the enhancement of language education methodologies that promote fairness and inclusivity for every student.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are critical to Indonesia's economic growth; however, they continue to face significant challenges, particularly limited access to broader markets. The integration of digital technology, especially e-commerce, presents a strategic opportunity to overcome these constraints. This community engagement initiative, in collaboration with Bank Jatim Pasar Besar Madiun and participants of the Certified Independent Study Internship Program (MSIB), aimed to enhance the digital capabilities of MSMEs through a structured mentorship program known as Friends of Power. This program provided tailored assistance in adopting digital marketing strategies and accessing online sales platforms. The intervention employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, emphasizing the utilization of local assets, and data were collected through systematic observation and documentation. Findings indicate that the application of digital tools and e-commerce strategies significantly contributed to increased visibility, business expansion, and income growth among participating MSMEs. This study demonstrates the potential of digitally-driven empowerment models to support MSME resilience and scalability, offering valuable insights for policymakers and development practitioners.
