Abstract

Research on the criticism of the Qur'an against the excessive sacralization of the monotheistic symbol is motivated by the emergence of a religious purification movement with the sacred symbols of monotheism that seeks to abolish syncretic Islamic culture. This movement claims to be the purest form of Islamic teachings, while customs are considered to be able to eliminate the authenticity of Islamic teachings so that they turn into shirk and heresy. Then this movement often disbelieves in other Muslim groups (takfirism). However, the excessive sacralization of the monotheistic symbol can actually turn the sacred symbol of monotheism into profane, if it is associated with the sacred and profane theory of Emile Durkheim which states that something sacred should not be mixed with the profane, such as the sentence of monotheism which was originally sacred (holy) turned into profane when used only for worldly purposes.

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between Islam and the state from the perspective of Sayyid Qutb, with a focus on his interpretation of political governance in Islam. Sayyid Qutb is renowned for advocating a symbiotic theory, which posits that religion and the state are mutually dependent. In this framework, Islam requires the support of the state to effectively implement its teachings, while the state needs Islam to provide moral and ethical guidance. Qutb’s perspective serves as a middle path between two opposing paradigms: the integralist approach, which fully merges religion and politics, and the secularist approach, which entirely separates them. His ideas have significantly influenced both modernist and neo-modernist movements within Islamic political thought. By analyzing Qutb’s writings and interpretations, this study underscores the continuing relevance of his ideas in contemporary debates on the role of Islam in governance. The findings suggest that his symbiotic model provides a compelling framework for understanding the dynamic interaction between religion and politics in Islamic societies. Practically, this research offers insights for policymakers and scholars regarding the integration of Islamic values into modern governance systems. Future studies could further explore the implications of this paradigm across diverse sociopolitical contexts, particularly in Muslim-majority countries.

Abstract

Abstract Research on the sacredization of the symbol of God needs to be done in the perspective of the Qur'an in order to find out how the view of the Qur'an is precise and correct and does not deviate from the teachings of tawhid to the formulation of sacred symbols of God. The purpose of this study was to analyze the sacredization of the symbol of God in the Qur'an. Research uses qualitative approaches and methods of literature study. From this research, the conclusion is that the Symbol of God's teachings of tawhid in the Qur'an is a model of God's symbol that is transcendent, namely tombodi him with a pure divine nature and not symbolize Him in a form that is material.

Abstract

Contemporary society often experiences stress, anxiety, and depression due to technological advances and rapid social change. In the Qur'an, Surah Al-Baqarah/2: 183, fasting is described as a comprehensive practice that helps individuals cope with stress and improve mental health through reflection and changes in existential awareness. This study aims to explore self-transformation and harmony between humans and nature through fasting, using approaches from the Qur'an and science. The method used is qualitative descriptive analysis, utilizing relevant literature on fasting, mental health, and human interaction with the environment. The research findings indicate that fasting is a spiritual ritual and teaches simplicity and respect for nature, which supports the balance between humans and the environment. The recommendations from this study are to encourage the practice of fasting to achieve better mental and ecological health, and to expand studies on the impact of fasting in the context of mental health and the environment.

Abstract

Racial conflict is a clash between different racial groups due to clashing interests and cultures. Racial conflict generally occurs because one race feels superior and more perfect than the others. This paper is based on the theory of intercultural misunderstanding and public relations theory. The theory of intercultural misunderstanding states that conflict occurs due to incompatibility in communication methods between different cultures. Public relations theory states that conflict occurs due to mistrust between different groups. This study reveals several preventive solutions for racial conflict from a Qur'anic perspective: eliminating primordial attitudes, eliminating racist attitudes, and eliminating stereotypical attitudes.
