Abstract

Oral health is important for overall body health, especially in children aged 6-12 years who are prone to caries. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using pop-up book media on oral health knowledge in grade IV students of SD N Demak Ijo 1. Quantitative research with a quasy experiment design involved 56 students and was analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney tests. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the intervention (p = 0.000), so it can be concluded that pop-up book media is effective in increasing the oral health knowledge of school-age children.

Abstract

Elderly independence is essential for maintaining quality of life and functional ability. Family involvement has been shown to support this independence, but evidence from quasi-experimental studies in Indonesia remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the Family Support Model on elderly independence in selected Public Health Center areas of Yogyakarta and Central Java. A quasi-experimental design with pre-post-test control group was conducted from March to October 2022. A total of 96 elderly participants without chronic illness were purposively assigned to experimental (n=48) and control groups (n=48). The intervention applied the Family Support Model, which included family education, structured assistance with daily activities, weekly follow-ups, and joint problem-solving involving families and health personnel. Independence was assessed using a validated questionnaire based on the Katz Index, covering both Basic (BADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL). Measurements were conducted at baseline, and at one, two, and three months post-intervention. Results showed a significant increase in self-care independence in the experimental group from 0% to 97.8%, and a decrease in self-care deficit from 63% to 2.2%. In contrast, the control group showed modest improvements, with independence increasing from 0% to 32.6%, and deficit decreasing from 78.3% to 67.4%. Repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant differences between groups over time (p < 0.001). The conclusion is the Family Support Model is effective in enhancing elderly independence. It can be adopted as a practical, community-based intervention to sustain daily functioning and improve the quality of life among older adults.

Abstract

Volcanic disasters have a psychological impact on society. Community stress must be anticipated and overcome as soon as possible so as not to cause greater losses. Community empowerment based on the experience of dealing with and dealing with disasters, managing risks, reducing, and recovering from disasters is an adaptive community coping. The purpose was to determine the effect of community stress on the community empowerment process in preventing daily emergencies in the volcanic disaster area. This study used an analytic design through a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 165 people in Hargobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, was taken using purposive sampling. The sample criteria were adults who live in the village and can read and write. Community stress and community empowerment were taken using a questionnaire from July until August 2020. Data analysis used T-test. Most communities have low stress for the threat of disaster but have high stress for attachment to the region. Community stress influence on community empowerment process (p-value 0.027). Community stress will affect the degree of reaction and have an impact on the community empowerment process in preventing daily emergencies. Further research is recommended to identify specific factors that cause stress in communities in volcano disaster areas.

Abstract

Perkembangan bahasa merupakan aspek penting dalam pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak usia prasekolah. Salah satu cara untuk merangsang perkembangan bahasa adalah melalui kegiatan bercerita menggunakan buku cerita bergambar. Buku ini menarik secara visual dan membantu anak memahami pemahaman, struktur kalimat, dan cara berkomunikasi secara efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh buku cerita bergambar terhadap perkembangan bahasa anak usia prasekolah di TK Al Muttaqin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen nonequivalent dengan desain kelompok kontrol. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 10 Maret sampai dengan 18 Maret 2025. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 70 responden, dengan masing-masing kelompok berjumlah 35 responden. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik total sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi. Uji statistik dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji Wilcoxon dan Mann-Whitney. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar partisipan berusia 6 tahun, berjenis kelamin perempuan, dan berbicara dalam bahasa Indonesia dan Jawa. Sebelum intervensi, sebagian besar responden berada pada kategori Masih Berkembang, yaitu sebanyak 22 responden (62,8%). Setelah dilakukan intervensi terjadi peningkatan mayoritas ke kategori Berkembang Sangat Baik yaitu sebanyak 20 responden (56,4%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai signifikansi p value 0,000. Ada pengaruh penggunaan buku cerita bergambar terhadap perkembangan bahasa anak prasekolah di TK Al Muttaqin.Kata Kunci: Buku Cerita Bergambar; Perkembangan Bahasa; Anak Usia Prasekolah
