<![CDATA[Wasathiyyah in Islam is a concept of moderation that emphasizes justice, balance and tolerance, as reflected in the Qur’an and hadith. However, these values are often misunderstood and misused. This article highlights the role of the Ulama of Binjai City in instilling Islamic moderation values in society. The focus of this research is the view of the Ulama of Binjai City on the relationship between Islam and other religions, according to the teachings of the Qur’an and the interpretation of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Binjai City. This research uses the Living Qur’an method, which combines textual analysis with real-life contexts to understand the views and attitudes of the ulama towards followers of other religions. The results show that the Qur’an teaches the importance of justice and tolerance in interfaith relations, which the Binjai City Ulema interpret as an obligation to respect the beliefs of others while maintaining their own. These clerics gained their understanding of moderation from their teachers and primary sources. The findings indicate that the internalization of Islamic moderation values by the Ulama of Binjai City contributes to interfaith harmony in society]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to explore the application of the Tablighi Jamaah’s da’wah in increasing the spirituality of Muslims in Baja Dolok Village, Sipispis District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research explores in depth social and religious phenomena related to preaching patterns and their influence on people’s spiritual lives. A sociology of religion approach is used to analyze the factors that influence the effectiveness of the Tablighi Jamaah’s da’wah in this region. Research data was collected through observation techniques and in-depth interviews with members of the Tablighi Jamaah, religious leaders and the local community. The research results show that the Tablighi Jamaah applies a unique da’wah approach, namely through the method of home visits (khuruj), religious discussions, and direct interactions in daily life. This approach has succeeded in increasing public awareness of the importance of practicing worship consistently and building a closer relationship with Allah. Apart from that, the Tablighi Jamaah’s preaching emphasizes real examples and the simplicity of living in accordance with Islamic teachings. The positive impact of this method can be seen in significant changes in the mindset and behavior of people who are more religious. However, this research also found challenges in implementing the Tablighi Jamaah’s da’wah, including negative assumptions from some communities, weak internal support in amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, as well as economic and geographical obstacles that influence the success of da’wah. However, the Tablighi Jamaah’s personal approach and consistency in preaching succeeded in overcoming most of these obstacles.]]>

<![CDATA[Purpose of the study: This study aims to explore Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist perspective on human existence, emphasizing radical freedom and the responsibility of individuals in defining their own meaning in life. The research investigates how Sartre's concept of existentialism positions humans as autonomous subjects in constructing their essence. Methodology: This study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing a literature review method. The primary sources include Sartre’s major works, such as Being and Nothingness, along with secondary analyses from contemporary existentialist scholars. Data are analyzed through content analysis to examine Sartre’s views on freedom, responsibility, and self-determination. Main Findings: The findings reveal that Sartre perceives human existence as devoid of inherent meaning, compelling individuals to create their own purpose through conscious choices. His concept of bad faith illustrates the tendency to escape from existential responsibility, whereas authentic existence requires embracing radical freedom. Sartre’s framework highlights the psychological tension between autonomy and existential anxiety. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a fresh interpretation of Sartre’s existentialism by relating his views to contemporary issues of identity, freedom, and personal responsibility. It extends the discussion of existentialist ethics in modern society and provides a deeper analysis of Sartre’s influence on current philosophical and social discourses on human autonomy.]]>

<![CDATA[Increasing awareness of religious communities is one of the main tasks carried out by the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Medan Perjuangan District. This research aims to develop an effective and sustainable religious outreach strategy to increase public understanding and awareness of religious values in everyday life. The research approach uses descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that religious counseling that is participatory and based on community needs is more effective in creating changes in religious behavior. The proposed strategy includes strengthening the role of religious instructors as facilitators, preparing programs based on specific community problems, and using digital media to expand educational reach. By implementing this strategy, it is hoped that public awareness of the importance of religious values will increase, thus supporting the creation of social harmony and a better religious life.]]>

<![CDATA[This ethnographic study aims to explore the religious values embedded in the Aruh Maulud tradition practiced by the Banjar community in Lubuk Bayas Village. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and community members, and documentation during the event. The findings reveal that the Aruh Maulud tradition is not only a commemoration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but also embodies religious values such as Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), generosity and charity, as well as gratitude to Allah SWT. These values are manifested in religious activities such as maulid recitations, the sharing of traditional food, and harmonious social interactions among community members. In conclusion, the Aruh Maulud tradition in Lubuk Bayas Village plays a significant role in strengthening the religious and cultural identity of the Banjar people, and serving as a medium for imparting Islamic values to the younger generation.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract: Purpose – The aim of this study is to identify the symbolic meaning of the bubur merah putih tradition in the Suro ceremony and to analyze its contribution to the integration of Muslims in Martoba Village. Design/methods/approach – This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings – The findings reveal that the bubur merah putih tradition contains profound symbolic values. The red color symbolizes spirit, courage, and struggle, while the white color represents purity, sincerity, and heartfelt devotion. These symbolic meanings strengthen values of brotherhood, solidarity, and togetherness among community members. Furthermore, the implementation of this tradition fosters social harmony through collective participation in every stage of the ceremony. Conclusion – The bubur merah putih tradition in the Suro ceremony is not only culturally and religiously significant but also holds a social function in strengthening the integration of Muslims in Martoba Village. Research Implications – This research provides insights into the role of local traditions in maintaining social cohesion and religious harmony. It emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural rituals as a medium for fostering integration, unity, and mutual respect in plural communities.]]>

<![CDATA[Tulisan ini mengkaji konsep kesempurnaan dan pencarian kebenaran dalam kehidupan manusia, dengan fokus pada filsafat René Descartes. Manusia, dipandang sebagai ciptaan sempurna dalam Al-Qur'an, menggunakan akal dan indera untuk memenuhi rasa ingin tahunya. René Descartes, tokoh rasionalisme, menekankan pentingnya akal sebagai sumber utama pengetahuan, berbeda dengan pandangan bahwa pengalaman indrawi adalah kunci pengetahuan utama. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah library research, meneliti karya-karya Descartes seperti "Meditasi Pertama" dan "Prinsip-Prinsip Filosofi". Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan Descartes dalam filsafat modern, khususnya melalui ide "cogito ergo sum" dan konsep dualisme jiwa dan tubuh. Pemikirannya tentang subjektivitas dan metode keraguan membuka wawasan baru dalam filsafat kontemporer, menjadikan Descartes sosok penting dalam diskursus filsafat hingga saat ini.]]>
