Abstract

The people of the Adat Village of Angantiga in the District of Petang, Badung Regency, have different backgrounds consisting of ethnic Balinese who are Hindus and ethnic Bugis who are Muslim; keep trying to fight for ethnicity and identity of each culture while still maintaining and building social relations, tolerance and appreciative attitude. Based on these facts, researchers are interested in describing the process of forming multicultural communities, revealing the social interactions of multicultural communities, and revealing the social solidarity of multicultural communities in the Adat Village of Angantiga, Petang District, Badung Regency. The theories used to dissect the problems are migration theory, the theory of symbolic interaction and the theory of social solidarity. In determining the informants used snawballing sampling techniques, the necessary information is obtained through non-participation observation, in-depth interviews, and document recording, then analyzed using interpretive descriptive methods'            The findings obtained through the research showed that multicultural communities in the Adat Village of Angantiga, Petang Subdistrict, Badung Regency were formed beginning with the migration process of ethnic Bugis who were Muslim, came and settled in the area and were able to adapt to Balinese ethnic traditions and culture. In the process of social interaction, the Balinese language is the main communication tool in daily interaction between indigenous villagers, while Indonesian is used in special occasions. Social solidarity formed in multicultural communities in the Adat Village of Angantiga, Petang Subdistrict, Badung Regency, because of differences in background, but these differences make them more solid, this condition occurs because of the awareness of the sense of equality as villagers, equality in life in the form of mutual cooperation , and they are physically involved in various joint activities and have the same responsibilities. The joint ties built by the Indigenous Village Community of Angatiga are categorized as mechanical solidarity.

Abstract

Strategi pengembangan industri pariwisata disatu sisi telah mampu meningkatkan taraf hidup masyarakat Bali ke arah perkembangan yang lebih baik, tetapi disisi lain memunculkan berbagai persoalan baru terutama bagi anggota masyarakat yang tidak mampu bersaing untuk terlibat langsung dalam semakin maraknya perkembangan industri pariwisata Bali, kondisi tersebut memunculkan  fakta sosial bahwa terdapat sebagian masyarakat lokal yang benar-benar tidak banyak terlibat secara maksimal dalam proses pembangunan industri pariwisata yang terus berkembang. Penentuan informan dalam menelitian ini menggunakan teknik snaw balling sampling, data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode obsevasi non partisipasi, wawancara mendalam, dan pencatatatan dokumen, selanjutnya data yang telah terkumpul dibedah dengan teori pertukaran yang dikembangkan oleh George Caspar Homans. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa terdapat sebagian masyarakat Bali yang tidak mampu bersaing terlibat langsung dalam semakin maraknya perkembangan industri pariwisata di Bali sehingga sebagian wanita Pantai Brawa Desa Tibubeneng Kecamatan Kuta utara memilih profesi sebagai nelayan, dan sebagian masyarakat Dusun Grahasanti Desa Sidakarya Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan memilih profesi sebagi petani garam. Pilihan profesi tersebut karena alasan rendahnya tingkat pendidikan, lingkungan alam yang mendukung untuk menjalani profesi tersebut, dan secara ekonomi profesi tersebut cukup mengungtungkan bagi mereka.

Abstract

The strategy of developing the tourism industry on the one hand has been able to improve the standard of living of Balinese people towards better development, but on the other hand raises new problems, especially for community members who are unable to compete directly in the increasingly widespread development of the Bali tourism industry. social that there are some local people who really don't have much involvement in the development process of the tourism industry that continues to grow.           Determination of informants in this study using snaw balling sampling techniques, data collected using non-participation observation methods, in-depth interviews, and recording documents, then the collected data is dissected with an exchange theory developed by George Caspar Homans.           The results revealed that there were some Balinese who were unable to compete directly involved in the growing development of the tourism industry in Bali so that some Brawa Beach women in Tibubeneng Village, Kuta Utara District chose a profession as fishermen, and some of the Grahasanti Hamlet in Sidakarya Village, South Denpasar Subdistrict chose a profession as salt farmers. The choice of profession is due to the low level of education, the natural environment that supports the profession, and economically the profession is enough to benefit them.
