Abstract

This paper aims to provide new meanings on jihad in the ?adîth. From many explanations of jihad, it is rarely found the study of jihad in the perspective of explanatory books of ?adîth (shar?), which is actually the interpretation of the main Hadith books. This study employs the books of shar? in comparative framework, that is to compare the meanings of jihad presented in the book of Fat? al-Barî and Irshâd al-Sârî, which are considered as the most representative book to explain S{a?î? al-Bukhârî. Based on reading those two books, it was found that jihad is not similar with war, and also does not only mean to fight unbelievers. Besides, it also means to fight against demons and lust in every single Muslim soul. The last meaning argues the incompatibility understanding of jihad as a war, as it is common in social perception. By tracking the socio-historical side, it is explained in both books that the law of jihad are far? ?ayn or far? kifâyah, which is based on the contextual situation.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the ethics of public communication in a digital age, based on the hadith perspective. It is based on the poor ethics of communication in society, which leads to the emerge of SARA, hoaxes, and politicization of religion. The article addresses prophetic traditions concerning ruwaybid}ah that could provide values ??on the norms of communication. Based on the lexical meaning, the word ruwaybid}ah means people who are weak towards noble matters. Muhammad?s description through the editorial ?fools who meddled in community affairs? has a close relation to the cause of social inequality at that time. Through a socio-historical approach, it argues that anyone who does not have capabilities in a particular field and tries to impose his or her incapacity, they could belong to the ruwaybid}ah category. Further, this study attempts to formulate key important principles of today?s digital age communication based on the hadith.

Abstract

It becomes a dilemma when Muslim communities cannot apply Islamic criminal law. In fact, a law is not only to be understood but also believed to be true by Muslims themselves. So, it is appropriate that the punishment for adultery is less likely to have a deterrent effect on the perpetrator. This is because, apart from conventional criminal law being poorly understood by the Muslim community, the sanctions are also quite light so that the deterrent effect desired by law enforcers cannot be realized. This research aims to analyze adultery law by applying linguistic approaches and ushul fiqh to adultery law. This type of research is normative law using a language and ushul fiqh approach. The data sources were primary and secondary, while data collection techniques were observation and literature study. The results of this research show that adultery is analyzed using a language and ushul fiqh approach is the perpetrator of a criminal act who deliberately commits the elements of inserting male genitalia into female genitalia (in intercourse), which is unlawful according to the substance of the act, not because subḥāt and women bring lust. The punishment for adultery is to jilīd one hundred times. This penalty can be applied if the legal action has been legal before the court by presenting four witnesses. The stipulated punishment cannot be changed with other types of punishment because the punishment is regulated by the text of the Al-Quran.

Abstract

Dalam memperbincangkan pernikahan, tidak bisa lepas dari dua ranah yang melikupinya yakni, keyakinan dan hukum. Permasalahan nikah sirri adalah permasalahan yang sampai saat ini masih menarik untuk diperbincangkan karena masih maraknya praktek ini. hadits yang merupakan sumber hukum Islam kedua telah melarang secara jelas praktek nikah yang tidak dihadiri oleh wali, meski al-Qur’an tidak menyinggung hal ini namun dalil-dalil yuridis telah menguatkan larangan nikah sirri karena akan mengakibatkan ketidak-jelasan hubungan suami istri, selain itu keengganan untuk mencatatkan pernikahan yang menjadi faktor utama pelarangan nikah sirri. Namun dalam perspektif antropologi, nikah sirri tidak selamanya dilarang dengan mempertimbangkan eksistensi hadits serta keadaan sosiologi yang ada. Tulisan ini bertujuan supaya memberikan new meanings dalam memahami nikah sirri dengan menggunakan perspektif antropologi.

Abstract

This study aims to explain and assess the Peoples' Hadith as part of a historical approach that can be used in Dating Hadith. The criticism of the inauthenticity of the hadith has been widely discussed by skeptical orientalists. The most basic reason for this doubt is that there are no written hadith documents in the era of the Prophet that can be known in the present era. The method they use is the dating of hadith; a method that seeks to find out the source of the earliest hadith documents by determining their age and origin. So far, the dating efforts made by Motzky and Nabia Abbott ended in the 2nd century AH. The difference of a century makes this effort still not sufficient to provide an absolute refutation of orientalist skepticism. Based on the descriptive-analytical method, the author finds that People's Hadith has a novelty in terms of viewpoint in the form of the need to look at document sources in the 1st century AH. through communities outside of Muslims, especially the Bedouin. Due to the widening of the scope of this historical search, the implication that will arise is the discovery of prophetic documents that will be obtained by historians or Islamic scholars with sources that come from the Prophet’s Era in the 7th century AH.[Ahli Hadis dalam Diskursus Penanggalan Hadis: Meninjau Cara Lain untuk Melacak Tradisi Awal. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dan menilai Peoples’ Hadith sebagai bagian dari pendekatan sejarah yang dapat digunakan dalam Dating Hadith. Kritik terhadap ketidak-otentikan hadis telah banyak didiskusikan oleh skeptical orientalists. Alasan yang paling mendasar dari keraguan tersebut sebab tidak adanya dokumen hadis tertulis di era Nabi yang bisa diketahui di era sekarang. Metode yang mereka gunakan yakni dating hadith; sebuah metode yang berupaya mencari tahu sumber dokumen hadis paling awal dengan penentuan umur dan asal-muasalnya. Sejauh ini, upaya dating yang dilakukan oleh Motzky dan Nabia Abbott berakhir pada abad ke 2 H. Adanya selisih satu abad menjadikan usaha tersebut masih tidak cukup untuk memberikan sanggahan penolakan yang mutlak atas keskeptisan orientalis. Berdasarkan metode deskriptif-analitis, penulis menemukan bahwa Poeples’ Hadith memiliki kebaharuan dari segi viewpoint berupa perlunya memandang sumber dokumen abad ke 1 H. melalui komunitas-komunitas yang berada di luar muslim, terutama kepada suku Badui. Oleh karena melebarnya ruang lingkup penelusuran sejarah ini, implikasi yang akan muncul yakni adanya penemuan-penemuan dokumen nabi yang akan didapatkan oleh para ahli sejarah atau pengkaji islam dengan sumber yang memang berasal dari Nabi pada abad ke-7 H.]

Abstract

This paper examines the ritual tradition of esoteric scientific practices in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), with a focus on the practical teachings outlined in the Kitab Amalan Khizib Kubro Ismul Haq. The study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing library research methods. The primary data source is the Kitab Amalan Khizib Kubro Ismul Haq, along with supporting literature such as books, academic articles, and journals relevant to the research topic. Data collection is carried out through documentation, and content analysis is used for data analysis, incorporating techniques of data condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings reveal three main points. First, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are key institutions in preserving and developing Islamic traditions, including esoteric scientific practices. Second, esoteric practices are often misunderstood or negatively stigmatized due to a lack of comprehensive understanding, where the outward forms of the practices are emphasized over their deeper meanings. Third, the esoteric practices within pesantren share common ground with Sufism, as both emphasize inner spiritual transformation and the unveiling of hidden truths, with the ultimate aim of attracting benefits and avoiding harm for the practitioner. This paper aims to offer a fresh perspective on the esoteric ritual traditions in Islamic boarding schools and contribute to a deeper understanding of their role in Islamic spiritual practices.
