Abstract

THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT FIBER SOURCES IN THE FEED TO DIGESTIBILITY OF CRUDE FIBER AND HEMICELLULOSE IN COBB STRAIN OF BROILERS. This research was carried out with the aim to determine the effect of providing different sources of fiber in feed on the apparent digestibility of crude fiber and hemicellulose in cobb strain of broilers. This study used 20 cobb strain of broilers 35-day-old. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with the treatment of 4 different fiber sources in the feed which was repeated 5 times. The treatments consisted of: R0 (commercial feed),R1 (commercial feed with coffe skin), R2 (commercial feed with rice bran), R3 (commercial feed with coconut pilp). Variables measured were: apparent digestibility of crude fiber and hemicellulose. Apparent-digestibility measurements using the total collection method. Data were analyzed using general linear model (MINITAB version 16), then differences between treatments were tested with Tukey’s simultaneous test. Apparent digestibility of crude fiber feed has a very different (P<0,01) with treatment R2 and R1. The treatment of R2 was not significantly different (P>0,05) from R1. Apparent digestibility test for hemicellulose shows that R3 is the same as  R0, but it is significantly different (P<0,01) with treatment R2 and R1. The treatment od R2 was not significantly different (P>0,05) from the treatment of R1. It was concluded that coconut pilp as a source of fiber in the feed of strain cobb of broilers provides better digestibility of coarse and hemicellulose fibers than coffe huks and coffe branKeywords: Apparent digestion of crude fiber, Apparent digestion of hemicellulose, strain cobb of broiler

Abstract

CRUDE FIBER AND FAT DIGESTIBILITY OF INDONESIAN YEARLING LOCAL-RACING HORSE FED LOCAL AND IMPORTED CONCENTRATE. The objective of this study was to determine the ability of racing foals to digest feed both local and imported feed. This study was conducted at the Tonsewer Village, Tompaso District for 30 days consisting of preparation and data collection. The data were collected from type and amount of feed consumed by racing foals and the number of feces (head-1 day-1). The animals of 20 individuals at the ages of 13-24 months old were used in this study. The amount of 10 racing foals were fed local feed and the rests of 10 racing foals were fed imported feed. The variables measured were digestibility of crude fat and crude fiber, found as the difference between the feed substances consumed and those excreted in feces and divided by those consumed feed at 100%. The results showed that the average digestibility of crude fat for local feed was 66.16% and imported feed was 75.16%, respectively. The digestibility of local and imported raw fiber feed was 65.53% and 72.16%, respectively. Based on statistical analysis using the t-test showed that the digestibility of crude fiber and fat of imported feed was significantly different (P <0.05) compared to local feed. This might be due to higher content of the crude fat and crude fiber of imported feed than those of local feed. Keywords: Digestibility, fat, crude fiber Racing horses, local feed, imported feed.

Abstract

EFFECT OF  PART SUBSTITUTION OF DIET WITH LEAF AND STEM OF SWEET POTATO MEAL ON DIGESTIBILITY OF CALCIUM AND PHOSPHOR IN PIG.This study aims to find out the extent of the influence of the use of leaf and stem of sweet potato meal replacing some of the diet on calcium and phosphor consumption and digestibility   in pig. This study used the design of latin square (Latin Squere Design) 5 x 5 consisting of 5 male pigs kastrasi results of the crossing Duroc X Spotted Polland China aged about 3.5 - 4.0 months, initial weight 50 kg (± 2.5 kg) and allocated into 5 treatments as follows: R0 = 100% basal diet + 0% leaves and stems of sweet potato; R1 = 92.5% basal diet + 75% sweet potato leaves and stems; R2 = 85% basal diet + 15% leaves and stems of sweet Potatoes, R3 = 77.5% basal diet + 22.5% leaves and stems of sweet potatoes; R4= 70% basal diet + 30% leaves and stems of sweet potatoes. The parameters measured were: the consumption of calcium and phosphorus, as well as theingest of calcium and phosphor. The results showed that the average calcium consumption of pigs in the initial phase of the finisher in each treatment ranged from 10.88 - 13.60grams, and for the average consumption of phosphorus ranged from 10.74% - 13.42grams.While the calcium ingest of pigs early phase finisher in each treatment ranges from 54.37 – 55.16% and for average of phosphor digestibility ranges from 62.27 – 61.23%. The analysis of varian showed that there was no significant difference (P>0.05) each treatmentson to consumption and digestibility of calcium and phosphor. In conclusion, The flour of leaf and stem sweet potato can replace up to 30% of the basic ration of pigs in the initial phase of finisher no negative effects on consumption of digestibility calcium and phosphor. Keywords: Leaves and stems of sweet potatoes, ingested calcium phosphorus, pig livestock

Abstract

THE EFFECT OF USING SWEET POTATO LEAVES (VINES) IN RATIONS ON DIGESTIBILITY FAT AND CRUDE FIBER IN PIGS. Pig livestock is one of the commodities that has great potential to be developed because it has beneficial properties, namely the ability of pigs to convert food ingredients more efficiently. A study has been carried out to determine the effect of using sweet potato leaves (vines) in rations on digestibility fat and crude fiber in pigs. This research was conducted for 50 days, from June 20 to August 9, 2017. This study used 5 (five) castrated male pigs from crosses of Duroc X Spotted Poland China around 3.5-4.0 months old, 30 kg initial weight: The treatment ration formulated as follows: R0 = 100% Basic Ration + 0% Leaves and Stems of Sweet Potatoes R1 = 92.5% Basic Ration + 7.5% Sweet Potato Flour and Stems R2 = 85% Basic Ration + 15% Sweet Potato Leaf and Stem Flour R3 = 77.5% Basic Ration + 22.5% Leaf and Stem Flour Sweet Potato R4 = 70% Basic Ration + 30% Leaf Flour and Sweet Potato Flour. Parameters observed were fat and crude fiber digestibility. The use of sweet potato leaves and stems flour did not have significant effect (P> 0.05) on the digestibility value of crude fiber and fat. The use of sweet potato leaves and stems gave significantly different effects (P <0.05) on the digestibility value of crude fiber and fat or at least one different pair. It can be concluded that the leaves and stems of sweet potatoes (vines) can be used up to 30% in the ration of castrated male pigs. without negative effects on fat digestibility and crude fiber ration. Keywords: sweet potato leaves, digestibility, pig
