Abstract

This research aims to determine the physical and chemical quality of dug well water in the area where shrimp paste (terasi) is produced at Jor Hamlet, Jor Village, Jerowaru Subdistrict, East Lombok Regency. The research method used was experimental, focusing on parameters such as temperature, pH, TDS, and hardness based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) guidelines. Three sampling points of community dug well water were selected with sampling conducted twice, considering the sampling points based on the distance between the dug wells and the shrimp paste production area being less than 10 meters, and due to the absence of proper wastewater disposal systems at the shrimp paste production site. From the results of the examination of the physical and chemical water quality around the shrimp paste production area in Jor Hamlet, Jor Village, Jerowaru Subdistrict, East Lombok Regency, it was found that several parameters met the requirements according to the Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation Number 32 of 2017 concerning the Standard of Environmental Health Quality and Health Requirements for Hygiene, Swimming Pools, Solus Per Aqua, and Public Bathing. Parameters such as temperature, pH, and TDS met the standards. However, the examination revealed that the hardness of the dug well water exceeded the standard in one out of the three sampling points. Specifically, samples A and B met the standard for hardness, whereas sample C did not meet the standard because it exceeded the established quality standard of 500 mg/l.

Abstract

Water is the most essential component in daily life. One of its uses is as water in swimming pools. A swimming pool is a public place and facility in the form of a pool building used for swimming. The water used in swimming pools must have a quality that complies with the quality standards determined for the water. One of the parameters required in PERMENKES Nomor 2 Tahun 2023 is the remaining free chlorine. This research aims to analyze the residual free chlorine content in Rinjani Waterpark swimming pool water, where it is known from the results of preliminary studies that Rinjani Waterpark uses chlorine as a disinfectant to kill bacteria in the water and purify the pool water. There were several complaints from swimming pool visitors, such as eye irritation and itchy skin after swimming in that swimming pool, so further analysis was needed. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The samples used in this research were 4 samples. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Testing was carried out at the STTL Mataram laboratory to see the free chlorine content in water samples using Mohr's Argentometry method. After conducting the research, the results were obtained that the samples that did not meet the requirements were samples with codes P1 M=2.3 mg/L, P3 M=1.77 mg/L, P4 M=2.3 mg/L, and P3 A = 0 mg/L. Visitors who want to visit the Rinjani Waterpark swimming pool are expected to use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as swimming goggles to avoid the impact of chlorine levels that are too high in the water. Swimming pool managers should pay attention to the chlorine dosage in the water so that it does not cause side effects to visitors.

Abstract

The use of unclean water is one of the causes of skin diseases. Skin diseases are often suffered by students in the Islamic boarding school environment because sanitation facilities may be inadequate. It is known that the water source in the Islamic boarding school uses drilled well water. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of clean water in the male dormitory of the Abu Hurairah Mataram Islamic boarding school, which was reviewed biologically. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The population in this study were all the water taps in the male dormitory of the Abu Hurairah Mataram Islamic boarding school. Based on the results of biological quality tests, including Coliform tests and Eschericia coli tests on water, it is known that the coliform test results obtained in sample A were 18 MPN / 100ml, sample B was 46 MPN / 100ml, sample C was 230 MPN / 100ml, and sample D was 0 MPN / 100ml and the results of Eschericia coli in sample A were 24000 MPN / 100ml, sample B was 24000 MPN / 100ml, sample C was 0 MPN / 100ml, and sample D was 0 MPN / 100ml. The water used by students still cannot be said to be suitable for use because of the presence of Escherichia coli and Coliform bacteria that can cause disease in humans. There needs to be treatment to reduce the bacterial content in sanitation facilities in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

In Indonesia, rice is a staple food consumed daily. The high purchasing power of the public for good quality rice makes this a reason for producers to add dangerous bleaching agents such as chlorine to improve the physical quality of the rice they sell. The use of unclear bleaching agents on rice that do not meet the requirements for permitted additives in food and whose concentrations exceed the threshold limits is dangerous for human health. This research aims to determine the presence of chlorine in white rice sold at the Pagesangan market. The methods used are qualitative and quantitative. Three of the five rice samples tested at the Mataram STTL Laboratory tested positive for chlorine. Chlorine levels in rice samples, sample C, were 367.4 mg/L, sample D was 275.1 mg/L, and sample E was 93.4 mg/L.
