Abstract

Positive language is a crucial communication tool, both within the family environment and in external circumstances. Previous research endeavors have evidenced that the inculcation of positive language by parents is effective in building positive character in their children. Thus, language is not merely a communication tool; it is also a means of personality development. However, this application cannot be realized if parents are unaware. Therefore, the community service activity proposed in this paper aims to broaden and strengthen mindful parenting, and to enhance the discernment of positive language in parents to help them build positive character in their children. To this end, a community-based research process was applied through activities held in a community center to mentor and assist 30 young Muslim couples whom were married for a period of 5 to 20 years. An expert psychologist was engaged to help the participating couples comprehend two perspectives of mindful parenting: language education and psychology. A mini handbook for the application of positive language was distributed to each participating couple as guidance to enable them to continuously employ mindful parenting with their children. This community service activity expanded and reinforced the commitment of all participants to work together to inculcate their children with positive personalities. Parents must be mindful of every single word they say and everything they do if they desire to build a better future generation. The more parents apply positive language in mindful parenting, the more children will be assimilated with constructive personalities.

Abstract

Abstract

Ballance Ton Quoi is a French song that the researchers plan to analyze. This song is performed by Angèle. This song has attracted the attention of researchers, since it is impossible to discuss women without mentioning the social structures in which they exist. The purpose of the present research is to illustrate how critical discourse can reveal a text's hidden meaning. Aside from that, this study aims to demonstrate how social construction influences the perception of good and terrible women. Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis is used in the present research to analyze data. By examining and explaining the macro structure, super structure, and micro structure, the researchers seek to identify the implied meaning of this song. The present research adopts a descriptive qualitative method, with significant concepts highlighted and translated. According to the research's findings, the speaker believes that women should be able to value and respect who they are by not cheaply dressing or performing.

Abstract

By using Roland Barthes' myth theory as a lens, this research attempts to understand Mrs. Bennet's role in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The story of social norms and women's standing in the early 19th century is greatly influenced by Mrs. Bennet, who is frequently seen as an example of an obnoxious and foolish housewife. The present research applies Barthes' myth theory to investigate how Mrs. Bennet's persona both reflects and perpetuates prevailing cultural beliefs regarding women's roles, marriage, and social stratification in Elizabethan English society. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. This research result is finding out that the hidden meaning or myth in this film that Mrs. Bennet is not simply a humorous figure, but also a symbol of the social pressures that middle-class mothers experience in marrying off their children in order to increase their social standing and economic security. The present research uses semiotic analysis to show how Mrs. Bennet's behaviour and concern with marriage can be interpreted as a manifestation of a myth that relates a woman's worth to her marriage success, hence perpetuating gender stereotypes and divides between classes.

Abstract

Based on Michael Halliday's Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory, this study examines the meaning of Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre from the standpoint of ideational meta-function. The way that ideas and experiences are expressed in language, particularly through the contexts, participants, and processes in the text, is reflected in the ideational meta-function. To explain the character dynamics and the novel's primary themes—such as freedom, gender equality, morality, and emotional conflict, this research points out the utilization of material, mental, and relational processes in the main dialogues. The analysis's findings demonstrate that, particularly in discourses that emphasize women's social constraints, relational mechanisms tend to be applied to character identity and social positions. The introspection of the main character, such as Jane's contemplation of her autonomy and self-worth, is exhibited through mental processes. Material processes, on the other hand, show the characters' tangible responses to different difficulties. Furthermore, the novel's ideological meaning is reinforced by the circumstances, including comparison and periodicity.
