Abstract

The research aimed at determining the significant effect of implemented Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) in developing students’ communicative competence in SMK Islam Wijaya Kusuma Jakarta. The students’ communicative competence was measured quantitatively by conducting the experiment method. There were 47 of the eleventh-grade students as samples chosen randomly by using purposive sampling technique. The data were performed by using the test instrument with two groups on post-test design; one group became the experiment class and the other group became the control class. The questionnaire was assigned to students at the end of the lesson. The post-poster cycle assessment was given as a basis of measurement in analyzing students’ communicative competence. The data were analyzed by using t-test two tailed formula to find out the significant difference of each class of the sample (simple effect). Findings have shown that there is a significant effect of using PWIM to students’ communicative competence which is reflected from the enhancement of students’ comprehension toward the pronunciation, fluency, grammar, vocabulary as well as the increase of their motivation and creativity experiencing thelearning process more communicatively.

Abstract

Communication skill nowadays becomes a must that everyone should master. The agreement of such conceptual meaning in communication should meet the same perception among speakers. One of the tools to improve one’s communication skill is by learning pronunciation through Reading Aloud for misperception emerged from mispronunciation can be avoided. This research aims at improving English pronunciation through reading aloud in the form of short texts. The research was carried out in Statistics Data Center (BPS) by employing A Classroom Action Research with two cycles of assessments. There were 20 IT engineers of Networking Operation Center with various background of knowledge as an object of the research. The data was collected by observation, note taking, and test. Questionnaire is designed and administered to identify the participants’ core and frequency of English tasks and also to investigate participants’ previous experiences with English. Findings show that there is an improvement on participants’ pronunciation skill through Reading Aloud as it can be seen from the increase of a mean score on the second cycle with 77.75 that is considered as good predicate.

Abstract

PT.XYZ Karawang merupakan distributor tunggal untuk produk-produk dari PT. ABC. Lokasi penyimpanan yang terletak di Karawang ini mendistribusikan banyak jenis keramik. Sebagai distributor tunggal, PT.XYZ harus mendistribusikan keramik baik ke 19 cabang di seluruh Indonesia maupun langsung ke end customer. Terdapat dua jenis keramik, yaitu floor tile dan wall tile. Dalam menentukan kebijakan persediaan, PT.XYZ belum menggunakan perhitungan baku. Hal ini membuat PT.XYZ melakukan pembelian keramik berlebih sehingga menyebabkan overstock pada persediaan keramik. Kondisi ini membuat PT.XYZ harus menanggung tingginya biaya total persediaan di gudang. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memberikan usulan kebijakan persediaan keramik jenis floor tile 40x40 agar total biaya persediaan dapat diminimasi. Kebijakan persediaan yang diusulkan merupakan hasil perhitungan menggunakan metode joint replenishment dan Model P, dimana pemesanan keramik dilakukan secara bersamaan selama interval waktu tertentu. Hasil dari kebijakan ini berupan interval review, reorder point, maksimum inventori level maupun safety stock. Hasil perhitungan kebijakan persediaan untuk floor tile 40x40 memberikan penghematan total biaya persediaan sebesar 45.80% . atau sebesar Rp473.495.683. Dari hasil tersebut diperlukan pnerapan kebijakan keramik di PT.XYZ Karawang agar dapat menurunkan total biaya persediaan

Abstract

Promoting effective English teaching classroom is one of the teachers’ concerns which is positive classroom environment for the sake of achieving success in English teaching and learning process. Beyond the presence of the advanced technology and information, teacher’s performance is still the main variable in promoting the effective English teaching classroom. Thus, the research aims at determining the influence of teacher’s performance to promote the effective English teaching classroom in state junior high school. The teacher’s performance focuses in teacher’s personality and teacher’s language. The effective English teaching classroom is measured quantitatively by applying correlational research design. The method conducts several steps as procedures of investigation in analyzing the data, namely: 1) data collection, 2) data analysis, and 3) data interpretation. Engaged by 71 students of eighth grade and 2 English  teachers, findings have shown that there is a significant correlation between teacher’s performance and effective English teaching classroom. The results are hoped to be as teachers’ and students’ contributions in establishing their effective English teaching classroom; gaining their confidence and ability to learn; and use knowledge and skills to interact and to fully participate in education.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the influence of positive language to promote the effective language teaching classrooms in state junior high school. The effective language teaching classroom was measured quantitatively by applying a correlational research design. The method conducted several steps as procedures of investigation in analyzing the data, namely: (1) data collection,(2) data analysis, and (3) data interpretation. Engaged by 142 students of eighth-grade and four language teachers, findings have shown that there is a positive correlation between positive language and effective language teaching classrooms. The results are hoped to be as teachers’ and students’ guidance in implementing positive language to building their effective language teaching classrooms, gaining their confidence and ability to learn and use knowledge and skills to interact and fully participate in education.

Abstract

Teaching English as a Foreign Language for students in English Education Program sounds less difficult. However, teaching English for Academic Writing that students have to develop their original writings in the form of essays is a great challenge. Most students do not know where to start their writings, how to generate their thoughts, and even how to manage their sentence by sentence in sequence. This study was administered to enhance students’ critical thinking in developing variety essays as the basic writings through Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM). Engaged by 54 students of English Education Program in sixth semester, the study was measured quantitatively and qualitatively with mix method analysis. The PWIM was applied to inductively generate and improve students’ critical thinking comprised in 2 cycles for two different essay genres which were descriptive essay, and compare and contrast essay. Findings showed that there were 41 students in first cycle and 52 students in second cycle, inductively improved their critical thinking and interestingly experienced new process of writing through the use of PWIM.

Abstract

This paper presents various forms of Islamic living (Al-Qur'an and Hadith) contained in the Para Pencari Tuhan sinetron, especially in volume 3 episodes 19. This departs from the assumption that every behavior of Muslims is born with understanding (both textual and contextual ) to religious texts, namely the Qur'an and Hadith, including various scenes displayed in the soap opera. Furthermore, as the focus of the study, this paper discusses the issue of love directed at marriage, both experienced by Azam and Aya, Chelsea and Marni, Barong and Dara, as well as scenes of other people who want to involve themselves in the matter. Finally, this paper presents various Islamic living contained in the Para Pencari Tuhan sinetrons, including the Hadith about fasting for Allah, Hadith about the privileges of Khadijah, Hadith about the criteria of the couple to be chosen, Hadith about the prohibition of approaching women being applied, Hadith about orders married to capable young people, verses on polygamy, verses about the importance of the attitude of tabayyun, verses about help, verses about the benefits of marriage. Various hadiths and verses recorded in the form of scenes in soap operas show that films (soap operas) always have a significant role in broadcasting Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the causes of illegal trade of HCFC-22 between India and China in 2013-2014 from India’s side. This research used qualitative methods, with compliance theory by Ronald B. Mitchell to analyze the causes of the case. There are some result of this research. First, this reasearch found out that the illegal trade of HCFC-22 is a low-low relations. Second, the illegal trade was caused by the incapacity, seen from the limited ability of Indian goverment to fulfill the necessary of alternative chemichal substitution to HCFC-22 and the limited ability of Indian society to afford the stuff with alternative chemichal due tue economic and environmental condition.

Abstract

Ustaz Abdul Somad kembali menjadi sorotan khalayak karena dakwahnya yang kontroversial. Pada akhir Agustus 2019, video ceramah Ustaz Abdul Somad yang diunggah pada tahun 2016 yang berjudul “Hukum Melihat Salib” sempat viral di media sosial karena dianggap mengandung unsur Suku, Agama, Ras, dan Antargolongan (SARA). Video pendek yang berisi jawaban Ustaz Abdul Somad atas pertanyaan jamaah, mengandung konten yang menyinggung tentang salib sehingga menimbulkan respon negatif dari umat nonmuslim. Selain itu, ada video ceramah lain yang berjudul “Hukum Menonton Film Korea” yang juga menimbulkan respon negative bagi para penggemar KPop atau KPopers. Tulisan ini fokus pada bagaimana etika komunikasi dakwah Ustaz Abdul Somad yang dibangun berdasarkan perspektif Al Quran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif. Subjek penelitiannya adalah dua video ceramah Ustaz Abdul Somad yang berjudul “Hukum menonton Film Korea” dan “Hukum Melihat Salib”. Sementara objek penelitian ini ialah retorika Ustaz Abdul Somad dalam video-video tersebut. Hasilnya, ceramah dalam kedua video tersebut mengandung prinsip etika komunikasi dalam Al Quran, dengan catatan ceramah tersebut dilakukan pada kelompok terbatas. Etika Al Quran yang dimaksud adalah prinsip bicara tegas dan jujur. Namun, jika dalam konteks media sosial yang bersifat general atau umum, maka pesan dakwahnya tidak sesuai dengan salah satu kode etik dakwah serta dinilai tidak efektif. Ustaz Abdul Somad returned to the media spotlight because of his preaching that triggered a negative response by other groups. At the end of August 2019, Ustaz Abdul Somad's video lecture uploaded in 2016 entitled "Hukum Melihat Salib" was viral on social media because it was considered to contain SARA elements. In the video footage, there is content that is offensive about the cross, giving rise to negative responses from non-Muslim communities. In addition, the lecture video entitled "Hukum Menonton Film Korea" also caused a negative response for KPopers. Therefore, this paper focuses on how the ethics of Ustaz Abdul Somad's missionary communication are built on the perspective of the Qur'an. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. His research subjects used Ustaz Abdul Somad's video lecture entitled "Hukum Menonton Film Korea" and "Hukum Melihat Salib". While the object of this research is the rhetoric of Ustad Abdul Somad in the videos. As a result, both videos contain ethical principles of communication in the Koran, if the lecture is aimed at a particular group. Unlike the case in social media that is universal (anyone, anytime and anywhere can be accessed), then the message of preaching is not following one of the preaching code of ethics and has not been effective.
