Abstract

Characterization of finite measured signals is a great of importance in dynamical modeling and system identification. This paper addresses an approach for characterization of measured random vibration signals where the approach rests on a method called empirical mode decomposition (EMD). The applicability of proposed approach is tested in one numerical and experimental data from a structural system, namely spar platform. The results are three main signal components, comprising: noise embedded in the measured signal as the first component, first intrinsic mode function (IMF) called as the wave frequency response (WFR) as the second component and second IMF called as the low frequency response (LFR) as the third component while the residue is the trend. Band-pass filter (BPF) method is taken as benchmark for the results obtained from EMD method.

Abstract

A collision-free route is very important for achieving sustainability in a manufacturing process and vehicle robot trajectories that commonly operate in a hazardous environment surrounded by obstacles. This paper presents a collision avoidance algorithm using a Bezier curve as a route path. The route planning is modeled as an optimization problem with the objective optimization is to minimize the route length considering an avoiding collision constraint. The collision-avoidance algorithm based on curve point analysis is developed incorporating metaheuristic optimizations, namely a Genetic Algorithm (GA) and a Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO). In the collision avoidance algorithm, checking of curve point's position is important to evaluate the individual fitness value. The curve points are analyzed in such a way so that only the paths which are outside the obstacle area are selected. In this case, besides the minimum length as a fitness function, the constraint is the position of curve points from an obstacle. With the help of meta-heuristic optimization, the developed collision avoidance algorithm has been applied successfully to different types of obstacle geometries. The optimization problem is converted to the maximization problem so that the highest fitness value is used to measure the performance of the GA and GWO. In general, results show that the GWO outperforms the GA, where it exhibits the highest fitness value. However, the GA has shown better performance for the narrow passage problem than that of the GWO. Thus, for future research, implementing the hybrid technique combining the GA and the GWO to solve the advanced path planning is essential.

Abstract

Services in the aviation world consist of three services: pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight services. In-flight services are carried out directly by the cabin crew, in this case the flight attendants, who are the parties tasked with providing direct services during the flight. In the world of flight attendants, there is a seniority system in carrying out tasks. The workload that must be done by junior flight attendants is greater than that of senior flight attendants. As a result, most junior flight attendants feel uncomfortable with the work environment caused by the lack of harmony between senior flight attendants and junior flight attendants. This study aims to determine the effect of flight attendant (FA) workload on their performance at Citilink Airlines in 2021. This study is a quantitative study, where data is collected by distributing questionnaires, observations and documentation to flight attendants at Citilink Airlines. The sample was carried out on 50 respondents using non-probability sampling techniques. Then the data was processed using simple linear regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that there is an influence of flight attendant workload on their performance at Citilink Airlines in 2021. Flight attendant workload affects their performance by 43.2%. While the remaining 56.8% of performance is influenced by other variables that are not studied and outside the concept in the researcher's research. The coefficient of determination ranging from 0.400-0.599 shows that flight attendant workload has a fairly strong influence on their performance at Citilink Airlines.

Abstract

This paper investigates the handling of dangerous goods on flights that often occur. Security problems at the airport can be seen from the many incidents that disrupt flight activities to and from the airport. Each airline has its own standard operating procedure (SOP). In this study, the differences in SOPs between two airlines - namely Citilink Indonesia and Lion Air - at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will be studied, especially in terms of handling dangerous goods. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative, because the description of the data is expressed in the form of words. The data collected will be reduced and presented, then conclusions will be drawn from the presentation of the data. The results show that handling dangerous goods certainly has a very high risk, therefore airport officers need to carry out their duties according to SOP. Each officer must be supervised in working, where training in the involvement of handling dangerous goods on aircraft is the main requirement beforehand.

Abstract

Aviation safety is highly dependent on the accuracy of the tools used, including torque wrenches used in aircraft maintenance. This study evaluated the accuracy of the QD2R200 snap-on torque wrench following the ISO 6789-2017 calibration method using the Stahlwille standard. The study was conducted in the Batam Aero Technic calibration laboratory, with torque wrench measurements at their nominal capacities of 20%, 60%, and 100%. Measurements were repeated five times at each nominal point. The calibration results on the two tools in the laboratory showed that the variation in deviation of the tool with serial number 1016901448 reached ±9%, while the tool with serial number 1116802022 had a deviation of less than ±2%. Testing was carried out in clockwise and counterclockwise directions. The t-test showed a significant difference in results between the two tools, namely p = 0.003. These results emphasize the importance of periodic calibration and show that the ISO 6789:2017 method is effective in measuring torque wrench accuracy, which is important in ensuring safety and reliability in the aviation industry.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of rice straw fiber orientation on the tensile strength of composite materials manufactured using the vacuum bagging method. The composites were made using rice straw fibers arranged in two orientations: parallel and random, with epoxy resin as the matrix. Specimens were produced according to ASTM D638 Type 1 standards and tested using a tensile testing machine. The results revealed that fiber orientation significantly influences tensile strength. The parallel fiber specimens achieved an average tensile strength. The parallel fiber specimens achieved an average tensile strength of 22.54 Mpa, significantly higher than the random fiber specimens which only reached 1.68 Mpa. The tensile strength difference between the two orientations was 20.86 Mpa. The tensile strength difference between the two orientations was 20.86 Mpa. It can be concluded that parallel fiber alignment provides better mechanical performance, making it more suitable for structural applications that require high tensile strength.

Abstract

The availability of baggage carts (BCT) is a vital element in supporting passenger baggage and cargo services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the cooperation between PT Gapura Angkasa and PT IAS Support in fulfilling the requirement of 100 baggage cart units, as well as its impact on the adequacy of baggage carts for airport operational activities. A qualitative descriptive research method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the cooperation between the two companies has generally been effective in addressing the previous shortage of baggage carts by increasing the number of available units. This improvement has contributed to smoother ground handling operations and enhanced passenger baggage and cargo services. However, the study also identifies challenges in the distribution and deployment of baggage carts within the airport area. These challenges primarily stem from the lengthy bureaucratic procedures and strict regulations imposed by Angkasa Pura Indonesia regarding the entry of new assets into the airport, which delay the operational use of the carts despite the completion of the procurement process. Overall, the cooperation has played a significant role in fulfilling operational needs, although regulatory constraints remain a key obstacle to optimal implementation.
