Abstract

This study analyzes the economic impact of agriculture on Sumatra's regional growth from 2018 to 2022, employing quantitative descriptive methods and data from the Provincial Central Statistics Agency (BPS). By utilizing Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and Shift Share (SS) analyses, the research identifies key agricultural sectors contributing to economic development. Results reveal that plantation crops, forestry, fisheries, and agricultural services are significant contributors, with Riau Province showing the highest relative contribution. Cluster analysis categorizes sectors into four groups, with plantation crops and agricultural services in the second cluster. Sumatera Utara and Riau demonstrate stable economic growth. The study suggests enhancing productivity, expanding export markets, and improving infrastructure and innovation for less significant sectors. Future research should explore non-basis sectors and successful case studies to provide deeper insights into sectoral performance and economic impact.

Abstract

The main goal of this study is to ascertain how poverty is affected in 16 Indonesian provinces by which is the Human Development Index, gross regional product, and minimum salaries in each province. Multiple linear regression analysis is the method utilized for analysis. The Fixed Effect Model is the estimate technique used for panel regression models. The analysis’s findings demonstrate that the provincial minimum wage has no discernible impact on poverty, indicating that raising the minimum wage does not always translate into more prosperity or a decline in poverty. In the meantime, poverty is negatively impacted by both the Human Development Index and the Gross Regional Domestic Product, which means that poverty is significantly negatively impacted by both the HDI and GRDP.

Abstract

The aim of APEC cooperation is to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth, as well as enhance cooperation and economic integration among its members. This study aims to analyze the influence of economic freedom, foreign direct investment, international trade, labor force, inflation, and the Covid-19 pandemic on economic growth in the 19 APEC member countries using multiple linear regression method. This research examines the impact of economic freedom, foreign direct investment, international trade, labor force, inflation, and the Covid-19 pandemic on economic growth. The analysis results indicate that economic freedom, although important, may have limited impact in weak institutional settings. Conversely, foreign direct investment and international trade have proven to have significant positive effects by bringing capital, technology, and innovation as well as enhancing economic efficiency. Moreover, skilled labor force and controlled inflation also support economic growth. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused serious disruptions by disrupting supply chains, decreasing demand, and creating economic uncertainty, highlighting the importance of economic resilience and public health. These findings emphasize the importance of policies supporting these factors to drive sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Inclusive economic growth involves poverty reduction, job creation, income distribution, and the development of agriculture, industry, and social sectors, ensuring equal participation and benefits. This study uses secondary panel data with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method and fixed effects across 10 provinces in Sumatra from 2019 to 2023. The analysis shows that development inequality, poverty, and open unemployment negatively impact inclusive growth, where a 1% increase in GINI and PPM reduces IPEI by 4.02% and 3.62%, while an additional Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) decreases IPEI by 2.08%. Conversely, labor force participation and human development positively influence growth, with a one-person increase in AK raising IPEI by 1.22% and a 1% rise in IPM increasing IPEI by 15.03%. Policies for fair economic redistribution are needed through enhanced access to education, healthcare, employment, and empowerment in labor-intensive industries across Sumatra.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of Average Years of Schooling, District/City Minimum Wage, Gender Empowerment Index, Gender Development Index, and Economic Growth on the Labor Force Participation Level of men and women in 15 Districts/Cities of Lampung Province in the 2018-2023 period. This research uses panel data processed using the Random Effect Model (REM) method with strong standard errors in STATA software. The results of the research show that the average length of schooling has a significant negative effect on the male labor force participation rate, but not significantly on the female labor force participation rate. The Regency/City Minimum Wage has a significant positive influence on the Labor Force Participation Rate of men and women. The Gender Empowerment Index and Gender Development Index have a positive but not significant influence on the Labor Force Participation Levels of men and women. Meanwhile, Economic Growth has a positive but not significant effect on the male Labor Force Participation Rate, while on the female Labor Force Participation Rate, Economic Growth has a significant negative effect. Based on these findings, the government is expected to be able to provide educational effectiveness in improving the quality of the workforce and ensuring wage policies are in line with economic needs. In addition, gender empowerment programs need to be discussed in order to have a more significant impact on women's work participation.

Abstract

Stunting describes chronic malnutrition status during growth and development since early life. In the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020 - 2024, the Indonesian government set a target for the prevalence of stunting in children under five to only 14% in 2024 (Presidential Decree Number 18 of 2020 concerning RPJMN 2020 - 2024). Efforts were made to see the relationship that causes stunting, non-food consumption expenditure, early marriage, proper sanitation and active posyandu. This research is a type of descriptive research with a quantitative approach using logistic regression with data obtained through the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for 2017-2021. The Wald test results show that the Non-Food Consumption Expenditure variable receives H0, meaning that there is a negative and significant influence between non-food consumption expenditure on stunting. The variables of early marriage, proper sanitation and active posyandu reject H0, which means that in this study there is a positive and significant influence on stunting. The results of the omnibus test (F) show that the calculated f value is greater than the f table (4.951 > 2.43) with a significance level of (0.000 < 0.05), so H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted. So, it can be concluded that non-food consumption expenditure, early marriage, proper sanitation and active posyandu simultaneously influence the stunting rate.
