Abstract

Transportation can cause stress, which leads to changes in body weight and physiological responses. Coconut water can reduce oxidative stress and improve the physiological response of sheep, as well as maintain hydration and metabolism to prevent weight loss. This study aims to analyze changes in body weight and physiological responses in thin-tailed Sheep given coconut water-based electrolyte solution. A total of 20 male thin-tailed Sheep with an average weight of 21.47 ± 1.47 kg were used in this study. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications: P0 = control (400 ml of water), P1 = 100 ml of coconut water + 300 ml of water, P2 = 200 ml of coconut water + 200 ml of water, and P3 = 300 ml of coconut water + 100 ml of water. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by Duncan’s test. The results showed that the administration of coconut water to thin-tailed Sheep had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on rectal temperature, but had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on body weight loss, heart rate, and respiratory rate. The administration of coconut water to thin-tailed Sheep before transportation can reduce stress and body weight loss after transportation.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of feeding frequency and level of Tenebrio molitor’s waste concentrate (TMC) on the physiological response of local sheep. A total 18 rams aged Io (8 months) with an average body weight of 14.72±2.44 kg (CV 16.91%) were used in this research. The reserch using 3x2 factorial randomized block design. Firts treatment was feeding frequency (2, 3 and 4 times/day) and second treatment was level of TMC ration (70% and 35% of TMC). The variables observed were physiological responses (pulse rate, rectal temperature, and respiration rate). The data were analyzed by ANOVA. The results showed that there was interaction effect between feeding frequency and TMC level on pulse rate and rectal temperature of sheep. The level of 35% TMC was significantly higher (P<0.05) on respiration rate than 70% TMC when the sheep feed in the morning. The research concluded that frequency of feeding and the level TMC had a significant effect on physiological responses in local rams.

Abstract

Eid al-Adha is commemorate by moslems every 10thDzulhijjah with by doing the Eid al-Adha prayer then followed by qurban worship for those who are capable. The aim of this study is to identify characteristics qurban animals at mosque in residential area, Bogor city. The number f qurban animals was 314 heads consisting of 95 heads of cattle, 204 heads of sheep and 15 heads of goats. The research method used was by observing the qurban animals at the research site. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the majority of the qurban animals were bali cattle aged ≥ 4 years (33.3%) with a BCS of 4, thin tail sheep aged 2.5-3.0 years (28.9%) with a BCS of 3, Jawarandu goats aged 2.5-3.0 years (37.8%) with a BCS of 4 and the identified qurban animals have met sharia requirements.

Abstract

Sheep is a livestock commodity this is used to meet national meat needs. This response takes a look at goals to look at social conduct and consume nearby sheep, which can be maintained in one of a kind renovation structures and supply one of a kind styles of concentrates. Looking at the 20 sheep used, their initial weight was 16.51 kg. Experiments were conducted throughout random layouts. The first part is device renovation and the second one part is the form of feed listen. The parameters discovered beating, mastication, remastication, regurgitation, length of eating. Data become analyzed with the aid of using evaluation of variance (ANOVA). The consequences of the take a look at confirmed that the form of listen and renovation device affected meals conduct (beating, mastication of remastication and regurgitation, length of eating).

Abstract

Good Farming Practice applied as agovernment-based guideline for good and precise cultivation in raising livestock. The main objective of good farming practice is to increase livestock population, meat production and livestock productivity. Published guidance contained how to apply good farming practices in goats and sheep cultivation, but priority of each aspect is not available. Based on that guidance, 5 main aspects were determined which include aspects of facilities, feed and drinking water, production processes. Unit Pendidikan dan Peternakan Jonggol (Jonggol Animal Husbandry Education and Research Unit), which was established since 1984, has a sheep farm unit with semi-intensive rearing methods, but the current production is less than optimal. This study aimed to examines Good Farming Practice (GFP) appliance at Jonggol Animal Husbandry Education and Research Unit using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to find priority vectors that will be apploed as the basis for the priority weights for each aspect, and then conduct an evaluation model to assess and improve the performance of livestock units in UP3J. The results showed priority aspects of GFP with the highest AHP weight, namely feed and drinking water (weight 0.548). This study shows that the combined value ofobservation and priority vector of the aspects of feed and drinking water is 42.7%. The value represents the implementation of thus aspects of good farming practice categorized as LESS.
