Abstract

Due to the research by Greenpeace and Air Visual IQ published on March 5 2019, monitored air quality in hundreds of cities across the globe, Jakarta was ranked first. In accordance with educational character based on Indonesian curriculum about 18 standard characters interpreted, and one of them was environmental care. The problem was the way a teacher to blend those characters into a good educational system in the class. In fact there were no definite process to transfer that character to the student in term of plan, proses, content, and evaluation. It proofed that there were many difficulties by the teacher to conduct evaluation to the student about their character because the teacher only focuses on a cognitive area. So that?s why this research try to transform the area of ecology and education to solve those conditions. Due to the condition, the researcher tends to strengthen the educational method on the field of Ecology with Literary Criticism as the media with the title The Implementation of Ecocriticism Approach for Healthy Earth and strengthen the English skill of Literary Appreciation Class at Islamic University of Majapahit ? Mojokerto.

Abstract

Eco Criticism or known as Literary Ecology which was popularized by Greg Gerrad has become a rare scientific discourse if it synergizes with the Indonesian character of education which is one of the educational pillars of the ministry of education. The resonance of these two scientific clumps between environment and literature to be the main topic promoted to realize the value of character education no 16 which is concerned about environment. To achieve this goal, this research using research and development by Plomp in order to form a form of book materials of Eco criticism as applied literary in education. The results obtained in the application of the ecological characteristics of literature which include the main elements, namely Pollution, Position, Pastoral, Wilderness, Apocalypse, Dwelling, Animal, Future the earth in a form of field test for students are 87.42 and expert validation 92.3%, media 95, 3%, and 92.3% language in the course of literary theory and appreciation of English language education, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Majapahit Islamic University of Mojokerto.

Abstract

The writer of this research is going to analyze the theory of the pioneer in Existentialism; Soren Kierkegaard’s the three phases of Human Existence (aesthetic phase, ethic phase and religious phase) This research indicates how the main characters Niki Jumpei at Suna No Onna novel are entrapped by society and nature. Their conditions are meaningless, powerless, nothingness and a sense of death. Yet, in the end, both of the protagonist characters recognize their meaning for their absurd life. By means using Descriptive Qualitative research, this research is focuses on describing the way of the main characters in Suna No Onna or Women in the Dunes provide the meaning of their life. Abstract

The results of a survey conducted by the Ministry of Education and Culture, as many as 60 percent of teachers still have difficulty doing PJJ. In addition to health problems, the use of digital media that has not been optimal is a major obstacle. Many complaints from students who only get assignments without first explaining the material. The teachers only gave instructions through the WA group, only gave homework. Many e-learning platforms such as google class rooms only contain pdf and ppt. For researchers to overcome the problem of courageous education, it provides a little solution with a bold learning approach in poetry courses. By using a qualitative descriptive method, 10 bold materials are presented in the form of videos which will be the core material for the practice of making poetry directly with different approaches. The 10 videos are 1. Metaphor, 2. Simille, 3. Five Senses, 4. Literacy Foundation., 5. Anti Social Life, 6. Short and Long Term Memory, 7. Creative Writing with Formulas, 8. Unlimited, 9. Research, 10. Restrictions. From the ten videos, 10 poems were realized which later became the first Poetry Anthology to be printed and had an ISBN in the English Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teaching and Education, Majapahit Islamic University with the title "Withut A Trace". Abstract

This research aims at knowing the implementation of pedagogical ecocriticism to enhance environmental awareness after two years pandemic era shape the teaching and learning process passively. As a quantitative research design, this research tried to reveal the power of pedagogical ecocriticism towards environmental awareness. As a means of pre-experimental research, the researcher pointed a statistic parametric test with paired sample t-test to determine the significance of defectiveness between pedagogical ecocriticism and environmental awareness. SPSS for Windows (Evaluation Version 22) was used for the analysis. The instrument used was the modified instrument from Gerrad (2012) which cover Pollution, Apocalypse, Position, Pastoral, Future, Wilderness, Dwelling, Animist, Sacred Place, Mysticism, and the Earth. There were forty students from the Islamic University of Majapahit Mojokerto, half students from the English Department, and a half from the Indonesian Department. Based on statistical analysis, pearson product-moment was used to correlate the pre-test and post-test, and it shows that the correlation value was .423 and sig. Value was .063. Its means that the significant result; 063 was higher than 005, and (2-tailed) was .000 < 0,005 or .000 is smaller than 0,05. It can be concluded that hypothesis H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. There is significance result between pedagogical ecocriticism and environmental awareness at the data of pretest and posttest. The final result proved that Ecocriticism has a great significance to pay heed of pedagogical in environmental awareness in general.

Abstract

The aims of this program were PKK and Karang Taruna Karya Pemuda Sumbertani who were domiciled in the village of Mojorejo. Mojorejo villagers were lazy in separating waste, processing organic matter into compost, and reselling inorganic waste to the local unit waste bank. Because it is difficult to process and reuse is organic waste and diapers. Both type of those waste cannot be burned because of the water content was high. So to solve the problems some citizens throw the diapers into the river. To solve partner’s problems are to carry out the processing of waste diapers into the planting medium. The purpose of this activity is to resolve the problem of waste that categorize as the most or highest level of pollution that contaminating the environment than other types of waste. Partners also get benefits in social and health care, the economy increased due to drought did not have a negative impact on agriculture, and also the environment becomes cleaner and reduced the pollution of the environment, and also as the absorption of water in the dry season. The method is spareted into two stages; 1) increasing public awareness through counseling on the impact of diapers waste; 2) the use of diapers as a planting medium. The results obtained were the community was much more aware of not throwing garbage and diapers on the riverbanks and secondly, during the pandemic, people felt it was helped to cultivate the land around the house to meet their daily needs.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of using multimodal text methods to enhance the narrative writing skills of EFL students at SMP Terpadu Darul Dakwah. The research employs a pre-experimental design involving pre-tests, treatments, and post-tests to measure the impact of teaching narrative texts using folktales packaged in flashcards. Results indicate a significant improvement in students' writing abilities, evidenced by increased average scores from pre-test to post-test. The study also incorporates responsive teaching with barcode flashcards to integrate technology into the learning process, making it more engaging and relevant for students. Multimodal texts, combining video, audio, and visual elements, can effectively enhance language skills and student engagement in writing narrative texts. The research provides valuable insights for educators seeking innovative methods to improve writing instruction and suggests that incorporating multimodal texts and folktales can significantly enhance EFL students' narrative writing skills.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The major objective of this research is to have a substantial impact on the damaging discourse of trends in online news of Eco literacy, beginning with a discussion of its locus of Ecology, Eco-literacy, and Eco linguistics in Indonesia in the wake and post-pandemic age. Then the study presents some of the antecedents of the worst condition of literacy around us in Indonesian Nature, continuing into the emergence of uncontrolled conditions of news that hypnotizes our way of living. Further, it presents a comprehensive and historical conspectus of Eco Literacy as it exists today, including some of the fundamental ideas by Arran Stibbe, David Orr, Kathy Ann Mills, Khan, Greg Gerard, and the Social Practice of Bang & Door. By applying phenomenological research, NVivo 12 Plus, this study applies a Qualitative Data Analysis (QDA) model to find out how language in online news might modify the consumptive paradigm and is not under environmental ethics in social society through online media. Finally, the result of the research indicates three coding in form of nodes in NVivo that covers Ideological Background; 23 references in 9 news, Sociological Background in Social Millau; 6 references in 5 news, and Biological Background; 5 references in 5 news. Abstract

This study addresses the critical gap in utilizing YouTube as an ICT tool to enhance pronunciation skills among seventh-grade students in Mojokerto. Grounded in multimedia learning theory, the research employs a descriptive qualitative approach to examine the impact of YouTube-based pronunciation lessons. Findings reveal that the teacher's strategy of creating and implementing pronunciation videos on YouTube significantly improved students' pronunciation skills and was perceived as highly effective by the learners. These results underscore the transformative potential of digital platforms like YouTube in revolutionizing English language education, particularly in pronunciation.
