Abstract

The decline in national character, evidenced by various social problems, underscores the urgency of holistic and sustainable character education. The golden age of early childhood is a crucial phase for instilling fundamental values, as children at this age possess unique characteristics and are highly receptive to environmental stimuli. This literature review aims to analyze the role of Metta, a concept of universal loving-kindness from Buddhist teachings, in shaping the character of early childhood. The research method is a qualitative literature study, analyzing and synthesizing information from journal articles, books, and scientific sources related to Metta, child developmental psychology, and spirituality-based interventions. The analysis reveals that Metta is not merely a philosophical concept but a practical framework that can be implemented. The principles of Metta—such as loving-kindness, non-violence, and the wish for others' well-being—have a substantial link to the development of pro-social behavior, empathy, and emotional regulation in children. These findings are supported by studies on mindfulness-based interventions which show significant improvements in the social-emotional competence of preschoolers. This report also identifies Classroom Action Research (PTK) as an ideal methodology for empirically testing the effectiveness of Metta-based learning in the future. The proposed PTK framework is intended to serve as a guide for researchers and practitioners. The conclusion of this study is that Metta holds great potential as a foundation for early childhood character education and deserves consideration as a component of a comprehensive curriculum.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of a holistic approach to early childhood language development through an extensive literature review. The holistic approach integrates cognitive, emotional, social, and physical dimensions to promote comprehensive language growth in young children. Findings suggest that environments providing rich verbal stimulation and active social interaction are pivotal in enhancing children's vocabulary and language comprehension. Frequent, positive interactions with adults and peers significantly support the development of speaking skills and verbal expression. Additionally, family involvement in daily language activities plays a crucial role in optimizing language development outcomes. Despite strong evidence supporting the holistic approach, this study acknowledges the limitation of relying solely on literature reviews and emphasizes the need for further empirical research, including case studies and experimental studies. Such research is necessary to validate the effectiveness of the holistic approach and to explore its practical applications in diverse educational contexts. The research highlights the significant potential of the holistic approach in fostering comprehensive language development and calls for continued investigation to refine and enhance educational practices based on these findings.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is an important factor in shaping individual attitudes and behaviors, including in the context of religious moderation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the internalization of religious moderation values and the emotional intelligence of students in Buddhist Colleges in Indonesia. The values of religious moderation are measured through indicators of national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and acceptance of traditions. Meanwhile, emotional intelligence includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to students and analyzed using statistical correlation tests. The results of the study indicate a significant relationship between the internalization of religious moderation values and the level of students' emotional intelligence. Students with a high internalization of religious moderation values tend to exhibit better emotional intelligence, particularly in the aspects of empathy and self-regulation. These findings highlight the importance of integrating religious moderation values into higher education curricula to support the emotional and character development of students.

Abstract

General Background: Traditional patriarchal norms in Indonesian society have long dictated gendered parenting roles, positioning fathers primarily as providers. Specific Background: However, since the early 2000s, digitalization, shifting family structures, and national gender equality discourse have catalyzed changes in paternal involvement. Knowledge Gap: Despite increasing awareness, few studies comprehensively explore how Indonesian millennial fathers reconcile traditional masculinity with modern parenting expectations in diverse cultural contexts. Aims: This study investigates the evolving parenting roles of millennial fathers amid the cultural tension between traditional norms and contemporary gender equality values. Results: Findings indicate a significant increase in fathers’ emotional and physical engagement in child-rearing, though role strain persists due to lingering patriarchal pressures and inadequate policy support. Novelty: This study offers a nuanced synthesis by integrating sociological and psychological perspectives, mapping out identity negotiations, and examining structural and cultural enablers and barriers for millennial fathers. Implications: The research highlights the necessity for structural reforms and inclusive policy frameworks that support father involvement as a norm, thereby advancing equitable family dynamics and child well-being within Indonesia’s shifting sociocultural landscape.Highlight : Millennial fathers in Indonesia are increasingly involved in emotional and daily caregiving, negotiating between traditional masculinity and modern egalitarian ideals. Role strain often emerges due to conflicting expectations between cultural norms and evolving gender roles. Social media and national policies play a vital role in supporting and reshaping paternal engagement in childcare. Abstract

The mental health of Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers is a fundamental aspect that directly influences the quality of caregiving, educational interactions, and the creation of a warm and safe learning environment for children in their golden age. ECE teachers not only serve as educators but also as caregivers and facilitators of children’s socio-emotional development. However, the high professional demands, excessive administrative workload, and lack of psychosocial support often generate significant pressure on teachers’ mental well-being. This study aims to qualitatively examine reputable scientific literature discussing the risk factors and recovery strategies related to the mental health of ECE teachers. Data were obtained through an exploration of scholarly articles using Publish or Perish software and bibliometric analysis via VOSviewer, applying inclusion criteria of reputable national and international journals published between 2020 and 2025. A total of 25 articles were selected and analyzed using a systematic literature study approach. The review reveals that work stress, administrative burden, low professional recognition, and job insecurity are dominant factors affecting ECE teachers’ mental health. Meanwhile, effective recovery strategies include individual approaches (mindfulness, stress management, and emotional regulation), institutional approaches (social support, supportive supervision, and wellbeing training), and policy approaches (improving welfare and providing counseling services for teachers). These findings highlight the importance of synergy among individuals, institutions, and policymakers in promoting sustainable mental health for ECE teachers to enhance the quality of early childhood education. Keywords: mental health, early childhood teachers, work stress, recovery strategies.
