Abstract

Paguyuban Batik Tulis Langensari (PBTLS) is a community of batik artisans in the area around Embung Langensari, Yogyakarta. Determining the target of enthusiast of handmade batik from PBTLS crafters requires a strategy so that batik results can be right on target. The strategy that will be carried out requires an agreement that becomes a joint agreement in the community, given the current fashion trends that are developing very fast. Along with the development of the main trends in life, namely go green that returns to nature, fashion trends are also following. Today's global fashion trends are shifting from fast fashion to slow fashion. The target of the PBTLS is to determine the meeting point between products that have been produced as supply and market needs/demand. The method used in determining PBTLS targets is carried out through 4 stages. The first stage identifies the range of products that have been produced by PBTLS. The second stage determines the target users of PBTLS products. The third stage determines the direction of product development. Then the fourth step determines the uniqueness of PBTLS products. In carrying out these four steps, a crafter's poll was conducted through a "mentimeter application" conducted on 17 PBTLS artisans and focus group discussions (FGD). Through the application of the "mentimeter" the results of the PBTLS artisans poll can be immediately known to be discussed and formulated together through the FGD. The results obtained by the main target of PBTLS are middle-aged mothers consumers. Uniform fashion / formal batik fashion becomes the main target for the direction of PBTLS product development by developing the unique PBTLS products namely motifs and colors of handmade batik.

Abstract

Ecotourism is a form of tourism activity that is oriented towards the balance of the ecosystem. Ecotourism demands environmental development and changing community needs. Based on several cases, ecotourism has an impact on the environment. Reality shows that ecotourism activities can provide economic incentives for conservation but also have the potential to affect the quality of environmental degradation if not managed properly. The problem raised in this paper is how to realize the concept of ecotourism and environmental balance so that it does not only become a utopia in sustainability. The method used in this paper is a literature review or literature review by reviewing writings related to ecotourism and sustainability. The result obtained is that the natural environment becomes the main basis as an attraction in ecotourism. Ecotourism that is growing rapidly needs to be anticipated so that it does not exceed the limit resulting in natural and cultural degradation. A strategy is needed so that ecotourism does not cause environmental damage, among others, by utilizing local initiatives related to conservation and paying attention to aspects of the area's carrying capacity to support sustainability efforts. Madigondo Hamlet is located in Sidoharjo Village, Samigaluh District, Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, located in the “Jalur Bedah Menoreh” program area developed by the Yogyakarta Special Region Government. Currently, in Madigondo Hamlet, the Tracking Terbit Menoreh (TTM) attraction is being developed which integrates potential spots in Madigondo Hamlet, including natural scenery, coffee plantations, history and religion, local wisdom, culinary, and creative industries. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the existence of Madigondo Hamlet where the tourism sector was the mainstay for increasing community economic activities was threatened. A good strategy is needed so that the tourism condition in Madigondo Hamlet can survive. Madigondo Hamlet with the Tracking Terbit Menoreh (TTM) attraction was chosen as an area that offers natural and cultural resources, where local wisdom is still actively used but is rarely considered an asset that can be valued to survive disasters and future development. The purpose of this study is to explore the local wisdom of the community so that it can maintain its existence during the Covid-19 pandemic. This paper also documents local initiatives and practices in people's lives in Madigondo Hamlet during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used is action research, through self-help mapping, focus group discussions (FGD), and participatory design (workshops). The results of this study are local wisdom in the Madigondo Hamlet community in the form of ‘empon-empon’ spice plants and community knowledge in processing them, becoming part of the landscape arrangement and tourist identity of Tracking Terbit Menoreh. Community and community participation in Madigondo Hamlet in identifying problems and formulating solutions is a very important aspect in maintaining its existence as an ecotourism-based tourism village. In addition to being part of the tourist attraction landscape, these ‘empon-empon’ herbal plants are also part of the development of the creative industry in Madigondo Hamlet so that it can improve the community's economy. Keyword: Tracking Tourism, Ecotourism, 'Empon-Empon' Plants, Local Wisdom, The Existence of Destinations

Abstract

The existence of street vendors (in Indonesian called Pedagang Kaki Lima/PKL), who are often shabby and disturb the visual image of the city, has become an issue raised in this community service program. This service program assists PKL Communities along Wahidin Sudirohusodo Street Yogyakarta (in front of the Duta Wacana Christian University Campus). The PKL Wahidin community has the intention to improve itself to organize street vendors that involve relevant stakeholders (according to the Yogyakarta City ‘gandeng-gendong’ program) it is hoped that it can become an identity for an image of a city in Yogyakarta. The process of designing street vendors tents using participatory design methods, community-based design with stages in the form of surveys, observations, interviews, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and making tent design mockups. The participatory design method chosen was expected to make the community have a ‘sense of belonging’ to the arrangement of street vendors along Wahidin Street so that sustainability would be created. This tent design can later be moved (movable) and following user needs and because the location of the design sidewalks remains environmentally friendly to pedestrians.

Abstract

Street Vendor Tents (Pedagang Kaki Lima in Bahasa Indonesia, PKL) are an important element of informal economy activities, because it is one of the vacancies that can be found in various corners of the urban area, such as Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo street. Therefore, design for street venders’ tent is become important, because it will influence the image of the area with very active vibrant activities.. Designing street vendor’s tent is not an easy matter, because it is related to the government’s policies and also related to the technical structure. The study is co-working with PPKLY and APKLY. This partnership used community development approach, carried out by focus group discussion (FGD) because basically the street vendors understand their needs. The companion will provide an affordable design and lead the design to keep it in line with government policy. We hope the frame’s trial will develop a sustainable design which it is suitable for the PKL needs and also able to strengthen the image of the city area. Thus, the informal economic activities of street vendors can go hand in hand with the government's policies and meet the requirements of cleanliness, safety and have an aesthetic that strengthens the image of the area. And of course, this frame’s assembly must be easily understood by street vendors, because they are the ones who will use it.
