Abstract

This study is aimed to gain the Catholic Youth understanding and the implementation of the Christian Sexual morality. The total sample was 24 the Catholic Youth which studied in STK St. Yakobus Merauke at fourth semester. The research method used was descriptive method by using questionaire as the instrument of the research. The result of the research was generally the respondents understood the moral value in Christian Sexuality, in fact they still couldn’t apply in their daily life especially how to reflect it in their attitude toward making date.

Abstract

This study focused on the adjacency pairs in teacher-students interactions in an English Day Program. The aims of this study are to find out the language functions and the types of adjacency pairswhich dominantly occured in teacher students interaction in the English Day program at Mutiara Persada international elementary school. The research addressed a research question: What types of adjacency pairsdominantly occur in teacher-student interaction in the English Day program at Mutiara Persada international Elementary School Yogyakarta? Unlike most other elementary schools in Indonesia, this school has an English Day Program on Saturdays. The participants in this research were the 23 students of grade IV and a non-native English teacher. The analysis results show that the greatest amount of teacher talk in indoor and outdoor category is primarily due to an emphasis on giving information and giving instructions. In contrast, student talk in indoor and outdoor categories are largely in the functions of responding physically and acknowledging. The findings revealed that the types of adjacency pairsfound in teacher student interactions in indooroutdoor category include, among others, giving information /acknowledging, giving instruction, question/ answer, inviting/ accepting, asking and showing attention, greeting, etc. There are more than 10 types of adjacency pairsfound in the current study compared with the 6 types found by the previous researchers. Those types of adjacency pairswill enrich teacher’s strategies in provoking interactions with students in order to foster learning.

Abstract

Children today are growing surrounded by media and new technology. Television and computers have become necessities in providing children with some excited learning strategies. Children tend to learn effectively through direct experience, where they can see and relate an object within their environment. By providing them with exposures to English conversation in an enjoyable manner, and by familiarizing them with second language vocabularies, they are helped to communicate in the target language more positively. Watching cartoons is indeed a ‘happy experience’ for the young children and it provides an attractive and enjoyable learning environment. English cartoons are seen to promote exposure to English language. This 8 months study tried to provide the result of how English cartoons have accelerated a five years old child’s incidental English vocabulary learning, and provide opportunity to the child to learn new English vocabulary.

Abstract

Each of us in our professional lives as a teacher is likely to face different kind of events or incidents during teaching and learning process in the classroom. The situation in the classroom is sometimes unpredictable. The teachers are expected to be proactive and decide wisely to respons any unpredictable situations. They need to reflect on what happened, describe the events and identify the possible causes of the unexpected events. Then, teachers may analyse the findings and think of what to do to improve the unexpected events to be applied in the future actions. This study purposed to help teachers to evaluate such unexpected events occured in order to plan a new action if it is occured in the future time. So, the writer designed and provided a simple and efficient model of pedagogical practice reflection for senior high school teachers. Questionnaires and interview were contributed to gain feedback from the English teachers (as the participants in this study) related to the proposed design of unit-lesson reflection model. The library study was also conducted to generate theories in this issue.

Abstract

Ki Hajar Dewantara (selanjutnya Dewantara) memulai pendidikan nasional dengan proses ideal dan tujuannya yang memerdekakan dan membebaskan manusia Indonesia, lahir dan batin. Konsep dan praktek pendidikan Dewantara ini masih sangat relevan untuk diperbincangkan dalam rangka kritik terhadap persoalan pendidikan dewasa ini. Visi Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan saat ini, Nadiem Makarim mempunyai kedekatan konsep-konsep pendidikan Dewantara. Ia menggagaskan “Merdeka Belajar” memberikan kesempatan bagi sekolah, guru dan muridnya bebas untuk berinovasi, bebas untuk belajar dengan mandiri dan kreatif. Dengan demikian pendidikan menjadi proses yang menyenangkan dan memerdekakan.

Abstract

Belajar bahasa Inggris membutuhkan waktu yang tidak singkat agar dapat memproduksi Bahasa tersebut. Berbagai metode ditawarkan oleh para ahli dan telah digunakan oleh para pengajar (guru maupun dosen) untuk memfasilitasi peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan metode interaktif dapat membantu peserta didik, dalam hal ini mahasiswa STK St. Yakobus Merauke, untuk dapat meningkatkan keaktifan atau frekuensi berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris (speaking). Penelitian ini menggunakan meode Classroom Action Research (CAR) dengan menerapkan dua (2) siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam siklus pertama nilai mahasiswa belum mencapai standar pencapaian indikator untuk kompetensi dasar mata kuliah karena dari hasil rata-rata kelas yang diperoleh pada siklus I adalah 47,3. Sedangkan pada siklus kedua, nilai rata-rata kelas diperoleh 60,2. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan nilai dari siklus I ke siklus II. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran interaktif ini efektif diterapkan dalam upaya meningkatkan frekuensi/ keaktifan speaking kepada mahasiswa STK St. Yakobus Merauke pada semester pertama T.A. 2018/2019.

Abstract

This research was triggered by the low of literacy culture and skills of students in pastoral care which impact on the quality of their services to the people. The objectives of this study are: 1) to explain the current condition of pastoral literacy of students at STK St. Yakobus Merauke and 2) present guidelines/ procedures for designing ODOA program implementation activities for pastoral literacy activities. This research uses qualitative method – descriptive approach, using Miles & Huberman (1984) theories in data analysis, namely: data reduction, data presentation and data verification. In-depth interviews were conducted with 10 students of the seventh semester, 4 lecturers who are competent in the pastoral field, and 1 head of UPT Library to obtain the necessary data according to research objectives. The results of the research showed that the condition of the pastoral literacy phase of students is currently in the 3rd position of 6 literacy phases (early literacy, basic literacy, library literacy, media literacy, technological literacy, and visual literacy) literacy initiated by Clay and Fegurson (2001). The 3rd stage or stage in question is the library literacy stage. The pastoral literacy program through the continuous and controlled implementation of ODOA (One Day One Article) is a means to improve students' literacy culture and skills in teaching. The conclusion of the research is by the implementation of ODOA program shows the improvement of students’ pastoral literacy habits and pastoral skills. The novelty of this research is that the presentation of the latest information regarding the position of student’s pastoral literacy stages in South Papua.

Abstract

This study examines gender constructions and women’s leadership in traditional Malind society and analyses the social mobility mechanisms through which Malind women attain strategic posts in the Merauke Regency bureaucracy. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were generated through in-depth interviews, participant observation and document analysis. Findings indicate that, although traditional Malind culture organises gender and leadership along clearly patriarchal lines, recent shifts in social paradigms have widened access to education and public leadership for women. Malind women navigate bureaucratic structures by combining educational attainment, support from family and community, strong social and professional networks, and opportunities created by Papua’s Special Autonomy framework. This framework affords affirmative recognition to Indigenous Papuans, including women, to hold government posts, while the civil service’s merit system continues to require high standards of competence and performance. The analysis shows that the interaction of cultural identity, affirmative action and meritocracy has enabled the rise of capable and respected female leaders in local government. These leaders demonstrate a transformative style that balances professionalism with empathy and collaboration, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable public administration in Papua.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konstruksi gender dan kepemimpinan perempuan dalam masyarakat tradisional Malind, serta menganalisis mekanisme mobilitas sosial yang memungkinkan perempuan Malind mencapai posisi strategis dalam birokrasi Pemerintah Kabupaten Merauke. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan analisis dokumen. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun budaya tradisional Malind menganut sistem patriarkal dengan pemisahan peran dan kepemimpinan berbasis gender yang tegas, perubahan paradigma sosial belakangan ini telah membuka akses yang lebih luas bagi perempuan untuk terlibat dalam pendidikan dan kepemimpinan publik. Perempuan Malind berhasil menavigasi struktur birokrasi dengan menggabungkan akses pendidikan, dukungan keluarga dan komunitas, jaringan sosial dan profesional, serta peluang yang diberikan oleh Undang-Undang Otonomi Khusus Papua. Undang-undang ini memberikan afirmasi bagi Orang Asli Papua (termasuk perempuan) untuk menduduki jabatan pemerintahan, meskipun sistem merit ASN tetap menuntut standar kompetensi dan kinerja yang tinggi. Studi ini menemukan bahwa sinergi antara identitas budaya, afirmasi, dan meritokrasi telah melahirkan pemimpin-pemimpin perempuan yang kompeten dan dihormati. Mereka menunjukkan gaya kepemimpinan transformatif yang menggabungkan profesionalisme, empati, dan kolaborasi, serta berkontribusi terhadap tata kelola pemerintahan yang lebih inklusif dan adil di Papua.
