Abstract

Praise and gratitude (syukr) are closely related to forms of worshiping of a servant to his Lord. Many verses of the Qur’an show this as it is associated with favors that God has bestowed upon His creation. However, there are still many people who neglect and forget to thank and praise God for all the blessings that God has given to them. Either because of their own humiliation, as well as the weakness of those who are unable to understand the nature of gratitude and praise itself. This article will see how this message appears in (QS. al-Fātiẖah [1]: 2) where Allah orders his worshipers to thank and praise him, while God Himself Who started praising Him. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to introduce how such views and ideas appear through Muhammad Sholeh Darat al-Samarani, mainly when interpreting (QS. al-Fātiẖah [1]: 2) in his book, Tafsīr Faidh al-Raẖmān.

Abstract

Preacher and Scientist are not two different groups (science and profession) that must be disputed. Historically, the Preacher of the classical period also studied, controlling even in themselves they were also a Scientist. Along with the development of the age and science, there is a 'dichotomy' that separates those groups (science and profession). Many events that showed the difference and the conflict between the two groups. Integration of science or inter-profession should be done in every policy, decision, opinions as well as those that are legal products, both legal in general or Islamic law. On the other hand, both groups should be united in overcoming and responding to various problems of life that continue to develop. The integration of science will make the various policies, views and legal products more comprehensive. By using qualitative methods in the form of literature study can be seen that in Islamic history and science have a very close relationship. Fiqh is not a binding and unchanging rigid product. Fiqh must be able to change and synergize with various science disciplines so that various human problems can be answered.

Abstract

The Qur'an is believed by Muslims as the last holy book, the revelation of God, and the greatest miracle possessed by the Prophet. The Qur'an contains values, insights, and science, also contains laws that serve as guidelines for human life. Translation of the Qur'an is one effort to capture the message of the Qur'an. The act was also carried out by Orientalists who translated the Qur'an in different languages for various reasons. Competition, suspicion, and hatred and elements of power cannot be separated from the history of translation of the Qur'an by the Orientalists. Nevertheless, the paradigm over time began to shift, and made some European intellectuals soft and friendly with Islam, although there are still others who continue to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors.

Abstract

The study of love in the Qur’an has predominantly focused on its psychological dimension, viewing it as a manifestation of human emotions. However, the Qur’an places love in a broader context, emphasizing the centrality of God and transcending conventional subject-object relationships. Notably, the verses addressing love in the Qur’an often overlook its multifaceted dimensions. The contemporary discourse on reinterpreting religion through the lens of love underscores the need to comprehend the implications of love’s interpretation in exegesis books. Grounded in this context, this research aims to unravel the dimensions and implications of love’s meaning in Makārim Shīrāzī’s exegesis, al-Amthal. Employing an interpretative approach, the findings reveal four dimensions proposed by Makārim Shīrāzī: firstly, a philosophical dimension rooted in the dichotomy of genuine and illusory love; secondly, a religious dimension positioning love as the “substance of religion”; thirdly, a social dimension where love forms the basis for tranquility (iṭmi‘nān) and societal peace (sakan); and finally, a psychological dimension portraying love as an emotion existing alongside hatred. These dimensions bear implications for issues related to divinity, prophethood, social relations, and tolerance. This research contributes to refining the interpretation of love in Islam, fostering a nuanced understanding that transcends exclusive and extreme religious perspectives.
