Abstract

Few communities in Cibiru have a problem, namely that they have not implement a clean and healthy lifestyle, namely the lack of the habit of washing hands with soap before eating, especially for children, resulting in moderate diarrhea in the community area, as well as a lack of post-harvest diversification of coffee and milk. The solution   provided is to educate the community by presentation about the importance of washing hands with soap before eating. This event also holds training in making liquid hand washing soap, so that people are skilled at making the product, and can even sell the product. There are three specific goals and targets to be achieved, namely the community gaining knowledge on how to make hand washing soap, the community get used to a clean and healthy lifestyle and increasing community income by selling the liquid soap. The methods that are used are presentation of material using in focus and Microsoft PPT, training in making hand-washing soap products (hands-on) and monitoring post-training product marketing. The method used to make this hand washing soap is the fermentation method for making yogurt, the maceration method for making Arabica coffee extract. From the results of the questionnaire evaluation, there was an increase in participants' insight after being given the training, namely from an average score of 68 to 90, so there is quantitative data on the results of this training

Abstract

Currently, the use of PRP requires a person to visit a skin care clinic by doing a series of treatments directly. Therefore, in order to facilitate the use of PRP, asiaticoside lotion base products containing antioxidants can be used as a PRP product base. asiaticoside antioxidants serve to stabilize PRP when added to the base. This research uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Asiaticosida as active substances, Fancor® Uni-Embase as emollient and emulgator, DMDM hydantoin as preservative, and distilled water as carrier. The stages in this research include preparation of tools and materials, lotion base optimization, lotion preparation formulation, addition of active substances, lotion preparation evaluation, physical stability test, and antioxidant activity test. The results of the PRP lotion stability test with asiaticoside for 10 days showed significant results (p<0.05) which means that for 10 days there is a tendency to be unstable. Antioxidant activity test results obtained IC50 results on Asiaticosida of 57.63 µg/mL, on PRP of 196.1 µg/mL, on the base with the addition of Asiaticosida of 77.19 µg/mL, on F0 of 166.90 µg/mL, on F1 of 96.727 µg/mL, on F2 of 88.395 µg/mL, and on F3 of 82.017 µg/mL.Keywords: Lotion, PRP, asiaticoside, Antioxidant

Abstract

Foundation often contains anti-UV filters whether synthetic or natural. One of the natural ingredients that can be used as an anti-UV agent is eggshells because they contain calcium carbonate. This study aim to develop foundation as cosmetic preparation containing of duck eggshells and Moringa seed oil (Moringa oleifera Lam.)  for anti-UV agent. The combination of duck eggshell and moringa seed oil is carried out with the hypothesis can increase the ability of the preparation to protect the skin from exposure to solar radiation. Foundation preparation were made in 6 formulas with varying concentrations of duck eggshells and moringa seed oil. Evaluation of the preparations carried out included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, and color dispersion for 28 days at room temperature, freeze thaw stability test for 6 cycles, and anti-UV activity were carried out using spectrophotometry UV-Vis. The results of the evaluation were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA method. Based on the results of physical evaluation analysis, all formulas showed stable foundation preparations.  All preparations showed a non-irritative category after an irritation test on test animals (albino rabbits). Anti-UV activity with an average SPF value for F0 was 4,2±0,29 (minimal category), F1 was 18.75±1.41 (ultra category), F2 13.68±0.73 (maximum category), F3 14.00±0.46 (maximum category), F413.02±0.47 (maximum category), and F5 18.14±0.31 (ultra category). Abstract

Gotu kola extract has antioxidant activity and contains flavonoids that can absorb maximum wavelengths of UV radiation. Bisoctrizole is a photoprotective agent to minimize sun damage. The Sun Protection Factor value of sunscreen can be increased by combining Bisoctrizole and Gotu kola extract as sunscreen in the form of a gel. This study aims to develop a sunscreen gel from a combination of Bisoctrizole UV filter material and Gotu kola extract which has good physical properties and sun protection efficacy. Gel evaluation was carried out on organoleptic, homogeneity, adhesion, dispersion, viscosity, syneresis, pH, irritation test, stability test, and in vitro test of SPF value (UV-Visible Spectrophotometry). The results showed that the combination sunscreen gel (F5-F7) had excellent physical appearance and homogeneity, no syneresis, pH 4.96±0.01 - 5.30±0.01, viscosity 5960±106 - 9240±173 cps, spreadability 5.75±0.05 - 6.38±0.03 cm, adhesion 1.24±0.20 - 2.89±0.12 seconds, and is non-irritating. The results of the measurement of sunscreen activity showed that the SPF value of the Bisoctrizole 5% gel added with Gotu kola extract 5% (F5); 7.5% (F6); and 10% (F7), respectively, were 27.73±0.04; 34.56±0.23; and 37.31±0.36. There was a significant difference (p<0.05) in the room temperature gel stability test and the cycling test on pH, viscosity, and spreadability.. The highest SPF value was found in the gel combination of Bisoctrizole 5% with Gotu kola extract 10% (F7) with an increase of 55.58%. Gotu kola extract can be formulated with Bisoctrizole into a sunscreen gel with ultra photoprotective activity (SPF>15).
