Abstract

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the application of Thinking Empowerment Patterns Through Questions (PBMP) in the Two Stay Two Stray learning model (TSTS) to improve activities and learning outcomes in applied microbiology courses in Biology Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UMMA. This type of research is a class action research (Class Room Action Research) which involves repetitive or cyclic reflection. The subjects of this study were students of biology education study programs who were taking courses in Applied Microbiology in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by observation and test techniques. The learning outcomes test was carried out at the end of each cycle to determine the extent of student understanding of the material provided. The collected data is then analyzed using percentage techniques, descriptive statistics, and qualitative analysis. The results of this study are patterns of empowerment of thinking through questions in the two stay two stray learning model can improve student learning activities and outcomes. Keywords: PBMP, TSTS model, learning activities, learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ecoliteracy skills of students in animal ecology courses. This research was conducted on 174 biology education students at six universities in South Sulawesi. This study used descriptive quantitative research. Data on ecoliteracy skills were collected using a multiple choice test technique of 25 items that had been validated by two material experts. The results of this study indicate that based on Goleman's five indicators of ecoliteracy, there are three indicators that are still classified as low, namely aspects of practice, visibility and evaluation of facts while the other two indicators are classified as excellent, namely aspects of empathy and real solutions.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of Google Classroom learning on the learning outcomes of students of STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia at the Biology Study Program. The benefit of this research is that the results are expected to contribute to the teaching and learning process that lecturers will carry out, especially the application of the Google Classroom in improving students’ learning outcomes. The researchers employed the quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of one group pretest-posttest, which provided a pretest before the treatment. After the treatment, the researchers administered a posttest on the Vertebrate Zoology course. The data collection technique applied in this research was a description test administered during the pretest and posttest. This research found that the students’ learning outcomes in the pretest were 36% in the completeness level. There was an increase in the posttest with a 72% completeness level. The results of hypothesis testing using an independent sample t-test obtained  value of 3,149, which was higher than tobserved of 1.67. The results showed that students’ learning outcomes after using Google Classroom were significantly better than before the application of Google Classroom. This research proved that Google Classroom was an online learning method that can improve the quality of education, especially students’ learning outcomes, and could overcome the constricted learning process with the availability of actual classrooms.
