Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan mahasiswa semester IV STBA-PIA Medan dalam melafalkan kata homograf “de”. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, peneliti menggunakan rancangan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa STBA-PIA Medan Semester VI T.A 2018/2019 yang terdiri dari 40 orang dan teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam menentukan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik sampling jenuh dimana seluruh populasi menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini. Instrumen dan teknik pengumpalan data yang dilakukan adalah dengan memberi soal tes kepada mahasiswa semester VI STBA-PIA untuk mengukur kemampuan mereka terhadap pelafalan kata homograf “de”. Koefisien reliabilitas instrumen yang diperoleh dalam penelitian dengan rumus KR-20 adalah  0,61· yang berarti instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini memiliki koefisian reliabilitas yang tinggi. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 71, berarti mereka kemampuan yang tidak kompeten. maka hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 42,5% (17 sampel) memperoleh nilai diatas rata-rata dan sebanyak 57,5% (23 sampel) yang memperoleh nilai dibawah rata-rata.

Abstract

This research is to determine the ability of STBA-PIA students in the VIII semester of the 2021/2022 academic year in using the adverb of modality “Xingkui” and “Xinghao” and explaining the factors that influence this ability. The research uses an integrative research design, quantitative descriptive research methods are combined with qualitative research methods. The sampling technique used the Cluster Random Sampling technique, namely 45 STBA-PIA students in the VIII semester of the  2021/2022 academic year and the research subjects used the Purposive Sampling technique, 3 students from the upper group (top grades) and 3 students from the lower group (lowest grades). The data collection techniques used were tests and interviews. The results of data analysis show that the ability of VIII semester students is classified as very low with an average score of 58. The score that appears most often (mode) is 60, the middle score (median) is 60 and the standard deviation is 14. In addition, there is 1 person ( 2.2%) were categorized as very high, there were 3 people (6.7%) who were categorized as high, there were 7 people (15.6%) who were categorized as moderate, there were 15 people (33.3%) who were categorized as low and there were 19 people (42.2%) were categorized as very low. The factors that influence the abilities of STBA-PIA students are motivation factors, formal presentation factors and environmental factors (formal environment).

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find whether learning motivation had a significant effect on the 5th semester of STBA-PIA students’ reading comprehension in Mandarin. This research applied ex post facto design and random sampling. The population of this study was 170 students majoring in Chinese Literature at STBA-PIA in academic year 2013/2014. The sample was 50 students. The data was collected by using questionnaire to find their learning motivation and HSK 5 test. The data was analysed by using validity test, reliability test, data description and ttest. This study showed that tcount was 7.674 and ttable (dk=48) was 1.67. The tcount bigger ttable (7.674 biger 1.67) which showed that there was a significant effect of learning motivation on the 5th semester STBA-PIA students’ reading comprehension in which the significant level was 5%. Ha was accepted while Ho was rejected.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the extent to which motivation and digital technology influence the improvement of Mandarin language proficiency among students in the Mandarin Language for Business and Professional Communication Study Program at Universitas Prima Indonesia. Specifically, this research analyzes the effect of motivation on language mastery, the role of technology in the learning process, and the combined impact of both factors on learning outcomes. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through a questionnaire as the main instrument, completed by 37 respondents. The findings indicate that motivation has a significant impact on Mandarin language proficiency (significance value < 0.05; t-value = 4.390 > t-table = 2.032). In contrast, the individual use of digital technology does not have a significant effect (significance = 0.983 > 0.05). However, the integration of motivation and technology demonstrates a significant simultaneous effect (significance < 0.05; F-value = 76.279 > F-table = 3.27). These findings emphasize the importance of motivation in language learning and highlight the potential of technology when appropriately applied. Therefore, educational institutions are encouraged to develop learning approaches that combine these two aspects to enhance Mandarin language mastery.

Abstract

This study highlights the misalignment between the competencies of Mandarin language instructors and the demands of the creative economy and tourism sectors in Indonesia. The main objective is to identify the developmental needs of human resources in Mandarin instruction and to formulate a training model relevant to industry requirements. The method used is a library research approach with descriptive-qualitative analysis, utilizing sources such as books, academic journals, and research reports. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to examine the required competencies in the field. The findings reveal that the integration of linguistic proficiency, intercultural communication, and technological teaching skills is an urgent need that is currently not well accommodated in existing training programs.

Abstract
