Abstract

The role of teachers in the learning process remains indispensable despite the advancements in digital technology. While artificial intelligence has taken over many aspects of human work, the presence of teachers is irreplaceable, especially at the elementary school level, where students need visual and auditory stimulation that only teachers can provide. The rapid changes in learning targets necessitate continuous updates in teachers' digital technology knowledge to maintain their relevance and effectiveness. In the digital era, the educational environment, particularly in madrasah institutions, faces unique challenges as these institutions are often secondary choices for the public. Teachers in madrasahs play a fundamental role in character development during the early educational stages. However, the quality of education is heavily influenced by the teachers' ability to create digital learning media. Conventional teaching methods starkly contrast with modern systems that leverage technology for learning. This article highlights the necessity for teachers to develop digital learning media, such as videos, to enhance student engagement and motivation. Despite students' enthusiasm for digital media, many madrasah teachers struggle with creating such content. Therefore, a special program, "WORKSHOP KREATIFITAS GURU BIDANG STUDI MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH MENUJU PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS DIGITAL DI MI ASSA’ADAH BUNGAH GRESIK," was implemented to address these challenges. Through several stages, the outcome of this workshop was successful, with teachers gaining new skills in digital media creation, leading to a more engaging and effective learning environment. The initiative also motivated further development and adoption of digital teaching methods among educators.

Abstract

 Communication is a fundamental part of human life and is very important in the family, where parents act as the primary educators. Many parents work, resulting in reduced communication with their children. Communication within the family aims to strengthen social relationships and influence the development of the child's personality. Effective communication includes feelings of togetherness, mutual understanding, and emotional involvement. This research aims to describe the effectiveness of communication in shaping the personality of young children (early childhood) in the village of Kramat, Mengare Bungah, Gresik. Using a qualitative study design through observation and interview, we found that family communication is very important in influencing children's behavior. The more effective the communication between parents and children, the more the child's intrapersonal intelligence develops. Open communication between children and parents builds a positive self-concept in children, making them feel accepted and confident in making their own choices

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial developmental phase in a person’s life, during which individuals seek self-identity and understand their social roles. Ineffective communication between parents, teachers, and the social environment with adolescents can significantly impact personality formation, such as reduced self-confidence, a tendency to become introverted, or passive behavior. Communication is a primary tool in social interaction, functioning as a medium for sharing ideas, emotions, and experiences. This study aims to identify the extent to which communication effectiveness influences adolescent personality development and to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors of communication in the school environment of Tanjung Widoro Village, Mengare. Using a qualitative approach through observation and in-depth interviews, this study found that effective family communication significantly affects adolescents’ behavior and intrapersonal intelligence. Open communication between parents and adolescents fosters a sense of acceptance, courage in decision-making, and the ability of parents to understand and support their children’s development. Supporting factors include parental emotional involvement, consistent communication patterns, and support from the school environment. Conversely, communication barriers arise from a lack of interaction time, generational differences, and social pressures from the surrounding environment. These findings emphasize the importance of effective communication in shaping adolescent personality and provide recommendations to improve communication patterns in family and school environments.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) technology impacts the improvement of students' oral communication competence in English. The ELSA (English Language Speech Assistant) application, powered by AI, provided feedback to users to enhance their English speaking skills. An Action Research approach was employed, integrating both quantitative and qualitative methods to gain a holistic understanding of AI's effectiveness in English language learning. The research was conducted in three phases: pre-observation, Cycle 1, and Cycle 2. Each cycle consisted of several stages: planning, implementation, action, observation, and reflection. To assess student achievement, quantitative analysis was used to evaluate test results. Additionally, a survey was conducted to gather students’ perceptions and experiences regarding the use of AI in learning. The results showed that after Cycle 1, 11 students (44%) achieved the minimum required score of 75, while 14 students (56%) scored below the success criteria (below 72). Based on the success criteria of 75% of students meeting the minimum score, the study proceeded to Cycle 2. In Cycle 2, 76% of students met the success criteria, showing significant improvement over Cycle 1. The survey also indicated positive perceptions from students regarding the ELSA app’s design, interface, variety of topics, and feedback feature. Students expressed satisfaction with the app, as it allowed them to practice English conversation anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

A harmonious family is a stable family with minimal conflict, serving as the first and most important educational institution for children. In shaping a child's personality, the family plays a crucial role as the initial foundation. Therefore, the roles of both parents are important in shaping the direction and tone of the family, especially since children are not yet able to be responsible for themselves and are highly dependent on their parents in various aspects, from physical needs to life perspectives. This study aims to describe the extent to which harmonious and Islamic-character family education plays a role in shaping the personality of young children. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through observation and interviews in Desa Kramat, Mengare, Gresik, it was found that community awareness of early childhood education is quite good, especially among those with a decent socio-economic status. This indicates that a harmonious family and strong religious education contribute significantly to the formation of a child's personality, particularly in the context of coastal communities like Desa Kramat.

Abstract

With a growing emphasis on cognitive processing in occupational tasks and the prevalence of wearable sensing devices, understanding and managing mental workload has broad implications for safety, efficiency, and well-being. This study aims to develop machine learning (ML) models for predicting mental workload using Heart Rate Variability (HRV) as a representation of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) physiological signals. A laboratory experiment, involving 34 participants, was conducted to collect datasets. All participants were measured during baseline, two cognitive tests, and recovery, which were further separated into binary classes (rest vs workload). A comprehensive evaluation was conducted on several ML algorithms, including both single (Support Vector Machine/SVM and Naïve Bayes) and ensemble learning (Gradient Boost and AdaBoost) classifiers and incorporating selected features and validation approaches. The findings indicate that most HRV features differ significantly during periods of mental workload compared to rest phases. The SVM classifier with knowledge domain selection and leave-one-out cross-validation technique is the best model (68.385). These findings highlight the potential to predict mental workload through interpretable features and individualized approaches even with a relatively simple model. The study contributes not only to the creation of a new dataset for specific populations (such as Indonesia) but also to the potential implications for maintaining human cognitive capabilities. It represents a further step toward the development of a mental workload recognition system, with the potential to improve decision-making where cognitive readiness is limited and human error is increased.

Abstract

The government plays a vital role in addressing women's issues, particularly for women heads of households who bear dual responsibilities as both caretakers and breadwinners. One strategic effort is the implementation of the Bunda Puspa Program, which is part of the 2021–2026 development plan of Gresik Regency. This program aims to increase household income, strengthen psychological and social resilience through gender equality and child rights fulfillment, and promote women's economic independence through skills training. This study aims to analyze the empowerment strategies for women in improving family economic conditions through the Bunda Puspa Program in Bungah Village. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving five women heads of households as informants. The study revealed four key findings: (1) active participation of women in the program; (2) the need for continuity in program implementation; (3) the importance of needs-based empowerment and strengthening of social networks; and (4) the uneven dissemination of the program across community levels. In the future, it is hoped that this empowerment strategy will be implemented sustainably, accompanied by intensive mentoring, so that women heads of households can become increasingly empowered and economically self-reliant. ABSTRAK Pemerintah memiliki peran penting dalam mengatasi persoalan perempuan, khususnya perempuan kepala keluarga yang memikul peran ganda sebagai pengelola rumah tangga dan pencari nafkah. Salah satu upaya strategis dilakukan melalui Program Bunda Puspa, bagian dari rencana pembangunan Kabupaten Gresik 2021–2026. Program ini bertujuan meningkatkan pendapatan keluarga, memperkuat ketahanan psikologis dan sosial melalui kesetaraan gender serta pemenuhan hak anak, dan mendorong kemandirian ekonomi perempuan melalui pelatihan keterampilan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis strategi pemberdayaan perempuan dalam peningkatan ekonomi keluarga melalui Program Bunda Puspa di Desa Bungah. Dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, data diperoleh dari observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap lima perempuan kepala keluarga sebagai informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan empat temuan utama: (1) partisipasi aktif perempuan dalam program; (2) perlunya kesinambungan pelaksanaan program; (3) pentingnya pemberdayaan berbasis kebutuhan dan penguatan jejaring sosial; dan (4) belum meratanya sosialisasi program di seluruh lapisan masyarakat. Ke depan, diharapkan strategi pemberdayaan ini dapat dijalankan secara berkelanjutan dengan pembinaan intensif, agar perempuan kepala keluarga semakin berdaya dan mandiri secara ekonomi.

Abstract

Pelatihan pembuatan materi pembelajaran berbasis digital ini bertujuan untuk membekali guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah dengan keterampilan dalam memanfaatkan teknologi untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih menarik dan efektif. Melalui serangkaian kegiatan yang menggabungkan teori dan praktik, peserta dilatih untuk menggunakan platform digital dalam mengembangkan materi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan peserta dalam merancang materi digital yang interaktif dan inovatif. Selain itu, pelatihan ini juga berhasil meningkatkan motivasi guru dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi dalam pembelajaran sehari-hari. Sebelum pelatihan, sebagian besar guru belum terbiasa menggunakan teknologi dalam pembelajaran. Namun, setelah mengikuti pelatihan, peserta mampu membuat video pembelajaran yang berkualitas. Diharapkan pelatihan ini dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di MI Al-Hikmah Masangan dan mempersiapkan siswa untuk menghadapi tantangan di era digital.
