Abstract

The role of teachers in the learning process remains indispensable despite the advancements in digital technology. While artificial intelligence has taken over many aspects of human work, the presence of teachers is irreplaceable, especially at the elementary school level, where students need visual and auditory stimulation that only teachers can provide. The rapid changes in learning targets necessitate continuous updates in teachers' digital technology knowledge to maintain their relevance and effectiveness. In the digital era, the educational environment, particularly in madrasah institutions, faces unique challenges as these institutions are often secondary choices for the public. Teachers in madrasahs play a fundamental role in character development during the early educational stages. However, the quality of education is heavily influenced by the teachers' ability to create digital learning media. Conventional teaching methods starkly contrast with modern systems that leverage technology for learning. This article highlights the necessity for teachers to develop digital learning media, such as videos, to enhance student engagement and motivation. Despite students' enthusiasm for digital media, many madrasah teachers struggle with creating such content. Therefore, a special program, "WORKSHOP KREATIFITAS GURU BIDANG STUDI MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH MENUJU PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS DIGITAL DI MI ASSA’ADAH BUNGAH GRESIK," was implemented to address these challenges. Through several stages, the outcome of this workshop was successful, with teachers gaining new skills in digital media creation, leading to a more engaging and effective learning environment. The initiative also motivated further development and adoption of digital teaching methods among educators.

Abstract

Many academics believe that using questionnaires and interviews simultaneously, or combining statistical analysis and narrative interpretation, can be categorized as mixed method research (MMR). This view is not entirely correct, but it is not entirely wrong either. MMR involves integrating quantitative and qualitative methods in a study, including all related components. However, not all simultaneous uses of quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis techniques can be considered MMR, as several key factors, such as timing, weighting, and research objectives, must be taken into account. This article aims to elaborate on various MMR models and their implementation steps, using a literature review method. The study identifies six MMR models: Sequential Explanatory, Sequential Exploratory, Concurrent Triangulation, Concurrent Embedded, Sequential Transformative, and Concurrent Transformative. However, the last two models are not discussed in detail due to their lower popularity. The Sequential Explanatory model integrates quantitative and qualitative methods sequentially, with greater emphasis on quantitative methods to provide additional information. Similarly, the Sequential Exploratory model is conducted sequentially but places more weight on qualitative data to connect findings. The Concurrent Triangulation model integrates both methods simultaneously, with equal weighting to compare data, while the Concurrent Embedded model combines the methods simultaneously but prioritizes one as the primary method and the other as the secondary method, aiming to compare data. Our findings provide practical guidelines for researchers in implementing each MMR model, particularly by highlighting aspects that are often overlooked in previous literature. These guidelines are expected to help researchers select and apply models that align with their research needs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengusulkan dan mengimplementasikan sistem pengenalan Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia (BISINDO) secara real-time menggunakan metode K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN) Classifier dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman Python. Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia adalah bentuk komunikasi visual yang penting bagi komunitas tuna rungu dan tuna netra di Indonesia. Sistem ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi interaktif dan responsif dalam mengenali dan mengklasifikasikan gestur tangan Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia. Penelitian ini melibatkan pengumpulan dataset Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia melalui perekaman gestur tangan menggunakan webcam. Landmark tangan diekstraksi menggunakan MediaPipe, dan data yang dihasilkan diolah dan dipre-proses untuk melatih model K-Nearest Neighbors. Pembagian dataset dilakukan secara proporsional antara data latih 80% dan data uji 20%. Program diimplementasikan menggunakan Python dengan memanfaatkan pustaka MediaPipe dan scikit-learn. Pengujian dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja model pada dataset uji, serta respon sistem dalam kondisi real-time. Hasil pengujian mencakup akurasi pengenalan Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia dan kecepatan respon sistem terhadap gestur tangan. Penelitian ini menyoroti kemampuan sistem dalam mendukung pengenalan gestur tangan Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia secara real-time.

Abstract

This research investigates the role of comic strips in improving the ninth-grade students of MTs Al Karimi Gresik. By utilizing collaborative action research conducted in two cycles, 25 ninth-graders became the subject of this research. The data were collected through multiple instruments, including reading assignments, observation sheets, and field notes. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative methods to assess improvements in students' reading abilities and qualitative methods to describe the students' engagement in each meeting. The findings indicate that comic strips significantly improved students' reading comprehension, although some common barriers were identified, including vocabulary challenges, lack of motivation, and difficulties with narrative structure. The test results revealed a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension, from a mean score of 73 by the end of Cycle 1 to 84 by Cycle 2. These findings suggest that teachers can effectively utilize comic strips to foster student engagement in language learning and academic performance. Thus, using comic strips promotes the broader educational objective of fostering student-centered learning environments, supports longterm student engagement, and provides a creative solution to common instructional challenges in language learning

Abstract

In recent decades, MMR has emerged as the third methodological movement due to the “paradigm wars” between quantitsative and qualitative. The philosophy of pragmatism is often associated with MMR because of its flexibility in integrating various methods to answer research needs. However, there are still major challenges in integrating the underlying philosophies, especially the aspects of ontology, epistemology, and methodology. This study aims to analyze how the philosophy of pragmatism can be used as a meta-framework in MMR; how pragmatism is able to accommodate positivism, constructivism, critical realism, and transformative-emancipatory in various MMR models; and to develop a conceptual framework to understand the ontological, epistemological, and methodological positions of this integration. The approach used in this study is literature synthesis with the narrative review method. This study produces findings that pragmatism in MMR acts as a meta-framework that can combine various research methods by accommodating various relevant philosophical views. The results of this study also found that pragmatism is able to accommodate various philosophical paradigms by accepting that both quantitative and qualitative (as well as other methods) have equal value and complement each other in producing scientific knowledge. Furthermore, the results of this study also present a conceptual framework that can position ontology, epistemology, and methodology in MMR integration.

Abstract

An abstract is often presented separate from the article, so it must be able to The purpose of this study is to analyze partially and simultaneously the influence of the human development index, health, education and income on labor productivity in Padang Panjang City. The type of research that the author uses is causative research using secondary data. The data in this study were collected by the author through the official website of the Padang Panjang City Central Statistics Agency and the official website of the West Sumatra Province Central Statistics Agency. Data processing using multiple linear regression analysis with data processing tools is SPSS. The results of the study show that partially the variables of health, education and income have a significant effect on labor productivity in Padang Panjang City. Simultaneously, the variables of health, education and income have a significant effect on labor productivity in Padang Panjang City with a very good level of influence of 82.2%, while the remaining 17.8% is explained by other variables outside this study.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to address the nutritional problems of toddlers in the working area of the Kumbe Public Health Center through the utilization of local food resources, namely millet, as the basis for Supplementary Feeding (PMT). The importance of this topic is based on the high prevalence of nutritional problems in toddlers and the potential of millet as a nutrient-rich cereal. The community service method used was interactive counseling and focus group discussions with mothers of toddlers. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge and skills regarding balanced nutrition, the benefits of millet porridge as PMT, and how to process it. The positive reception of millet porridge as PMT indicates the potential for changes in feeding practices at home. In conclusion, this local food-based educational intervention is effective in increasing the capacity of mothers, which is an important initial step in efforts to improve the nutritional status of toddlers in the Kumbe Public Health Center area.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the school's strategies in addressing students' indiscipline at SD Negeri 138 Palembang. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the school applies preventive strategies by emphasizing character education through learning approaches such as project-based activities, classroom agreements, and instilling values like responsibility, cooperation, and independence. Parental involvement also plays an important role in supporting students’ discipline through consistent communication and collaboration at home. However, the implementation of these strategies faces several challenges, including limited teacher understanding of character-based learning, lack of supporting facilities, and low parental participation. Therefore, stronger collaboration among teachers, parents, and school administrators is needed to ensure that student discipline strategies can be carried out effectively and sustainably

Abstract

Wilayah kumuh perkotaan merupakan salah satu tantangan besar dalam pembangunan kesehatan masyarakat karena ditandai oleh kepadatan penduduk yang tinggi, perumahan tidak layak, dan minimnya akses terhadap layanan dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan literature review dengan desain deskriptif-analitik. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan kondisi kesehatan masyarakat di wilayah kumuh Kota Palembang melalui telaah terhadap berbagai sumber data sekunder yang relevan. Kesehatan masyarakat di wilayah kumuh Kota Palembang menghadapi tantangan serius akibat kondisi lingkungan yang buruk, kepadatan penduduk, serta keterbatasan akses layanan dasar. Penyakit menular seperti ISPA, diare, dan penyakit kulit banyak terjadi karena sanitasi yang tidak memadai dan minimnya PHBS. Masalah gizi pada anak dan ibu, termasuk stunting dan anemia, juga masih tinggi akibat kurangnya asupan bergizi dan infeksi berulang. Rendahnya cakupan imunisasi, ANC, dan persalinan di fasilitas kesehatan menunjukkan lemahnya akses terhadap layanan kesehatan, diperparah oleh faktor ekonomi dan administrasi kependudukan. Selain itu, tekanan psikososial dan kondisi hidup yang padat memicu meningkatnya masalah kesehatan mental. Secara umum, perbaikan kesehatan di wilayah kumuh memerlukan pendekatan terpadu yang mencakup peningkatan infrastruktur dasar, edukasi kesehatan, serta penguatan layanan kesehatan berbasis komunitas.

Abstract

Wilayah lahan basah seperti Sungsang dan Banyuasin di Provinsi Sumatera Selatan merupakan kawasan pesisir yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati tinggi dan menjadi pusat aktivitas perikanan, pertanian, serta pemukiman masyarakat pesisir. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain literature review atau tinjauan pustaka sebagai pendekatan utama dalam mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis berbagai temuan ilmiah yang relevan terkait kondisi kesehatan masyarakat di wilayah lahan basah, khususnya di daerah Sungsang Banyuasin. Wilayah lahan basah Sungsang dan Banyuasin menghadapi masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang signifikan, terutama akibat buruknya kualitas air, sanitasi, dan akses layanan kesehatan. Ketergantungan pada air sungai yang tercemar menyebabkan tingginya kasus penyakit diare, infeksi kulit, dan penyakit tropis. Selain itu, ISPA dan masalah gizi seperti stunting banyak ditemukan karena kondisi rumah yang tidak sehat, ventilasi buruk, serta konsumsi makanan bergizi yang minim. Hambatan geografis dan terbatasnya tenaga kesehatan memperparah kesenjangan layanan medis. Rendahnya praktik PHBS juga menunjukkan kurangnya edukasi kesehatan berbasis budaya lokal. Oleh karena itu, perbaikan kesehatan di wilayah ini memerlukan pendekatan lintas sektor, berbasis komunitas, serta dukungan kebijakan yang sesuai dengan kondisi geografis dan sosial masyarakat setempat.
