Abstract

In advancing education in our country, lecturers and teachers are very important role in developing the potential of students possessed. The future of the nation is in the hands of educators through the national education process. This effort is able to improve lecturer competency education which includes pedagogical, personal, social, and professional competencies. Improving the quality of lecturers can also be done in various ways including lecturer academic qualifications, training, certification testing, and providing classroom action research. In addition to the influence of the competence of lecturers, the environment is also a place for the occurrence of the interaction process between one person and another which greatly influences student learning abilities. The environment can directly affect a person's attitude, behavior, and personality. For that the environment that surrounds us and affects the learning process. called the learning environment. The environment also an important role in learning English, especially speaking skills. The role of the environment here is as a place where students can express and apply the use of English that has been learned in communication in daily life. The environment is very influential on student motivation in improving their ability to speak English.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) aims to apply the Role Play learning method in Basic English Conversation. This learning model can foster students' enthusiasm for learning and create fun English learning. This learning method is believed to be able to increase interest in learning English, especially for children because this method involves motion games that create fun which is closely related to children. The Role Play method is a learning model that requires students to play one's character. This model is a technique that allows students to explore realistic conditions, situations or events by interacting with other students in a managed manner to enhance the experience. This Community Service activity began with a pre-survey/observation in April 2022 and the core of this activity is conducting teaching and learning activities for the children of Griya Yatim Dhuafa Permata Pamulang by implementing Role Play which was held in mid-May 2022. The PkM results show there is an increase in students' motivation and enthusiasm in learning English so that it is expected to be a reference for educators in creating new nuances in learning English so as to create fun classes and achieve maximum learning goals.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan Story Telling untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dalam keterampilan berbicara. Story telling atau bercerita merupakan salah satu metode mengajar untuk berkomunikasi secara kreatif dalam pembelajaran Bahasa. Dalam pembelajaran bahasa, salah satu keterampilannya yaitu keterampilan berbicara. Metode ini dapat membantu siswa memperkaya kosakata dan memperoleh struktur bahasa yang baru. Melalui story telling, siswa dapat mengekspresikan ide, kekhawatiran, harapan dan impian mereka. Selain itu, bercerita memberikan peluang bagi siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa, berpikir, imajinasi dan penalaran yang tentunya akan memberi kesempatan untuk mengolah informasi dan mengembangkan kemampuannya dalam berkomunikasi. Kegiatan PkM ini dimulai dengan pra-survey / observasi pada bulan September 2022 di lokasi sasaran PkM yaitu di Rumah Asuh Yatim dan Dhuafa Yasmin, Rawakalong yang dilakukan secara berkesinambungan sehingga dapat menganalisis, mendiskusikan, dan memberikan pendampingan secara langsung terkait kegiatan pelatihan keterampilan berbicara dan inti pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM dilaksanakan pada tanggal 25-27 November 2022. Hasil PkM menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi dan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris yang sehingga diharapkan bisa menjadi salah satu referensi untuk pendidik dalam menciptakan atmosfer baru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris sehingga terciptanya kelas yang menyenangkan dan tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran dengan maksimal.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Scaffolding dengan teknik Peer Tutoring. Model dan teknik tersebut secara teori mampu memotivasi siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran bahasa Inggris baik secara langsung maupun dalam jaringan dengan baik. Kegiatan PkM ini dimulai dengan pra-survey/observasi pada bulan Maret 2021 dengan melakukan wawancara kepada pihak sekolah yaitu guru bahasa Inggris dan beberapa siswa di SMP Muhammadiyah Serpong mengenai kondisi dan kebutuhan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris selama pembelajaran dalam jaringan. Setelah mendapat masukan, kegiatan PkM dengan menggunakan scaffolding dan peer tutoring dilaksanakan. Hasil PkM menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi dan antusiasme siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris baik secara langsung maupun dalam jaringan sehingga diharapkan bisa menjadi salah satu referensi untuk pendidik dalam menciptakan atmosfer baru dalam pembelajaran baik secara langsung maupun dalam jaringan khususnya mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris sehingga terciptanya kelas yang kondusif dan tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran dengan maksimal.

Abstract

Language skills are an important aspect in the learning process, especially in the ever-evolving world of education. English, as one of the subjects, aims to develop oral and written communication skills. In early childhood education, English is included in the local content that must be taught. One of the challenges in this learning is developing English vocabulary mastery in early childhood. Therefore, creative methods are needed to improve vocabulary mastery, one of which is by using the Total Physical Response (TPR) method, where students are asked to move their bodies to guess or interpret certain words or activities. This research was conducted at TK BINA ILMU Parung with respondents in groups A and B. The objectives were to: (1) determine the effect of the TPR method on English vocabulary mastery, (2) understand the implementation of learning with the TPR method, (3) evaluate the effectiveness of the TPR method in learning, and (4) identify obstacles and how to overcome them. Data were collected using several instruments, namely vocabulary tests to measure student mastery, observation sheets to monitor the learning process, and questionnaires to explore teacher and student responses to the implementation of the TPR method. The research began with field studies, problem identification, formulation of objectives, and data collection. The results of this study are expected to provide insight into the effectiveness of the TPR method in improving the mastery of English vocabulary in early childhood and become a reference for innovation in English learning at that level. ABSTRAKKemampuan berbahasa merupakan aspek penting dalam proses pembelajaran, terutama dalam dunia pendidikan yang terus berkembang. Bahasa Inggris, sebagai salah satu mata pelajaran, bertujuan mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi lisan dan tulisan. Pada pendidikan anak usia dini, Bahasa Inggris dimasukkan ke dalam muatan lokal yang wajib diajarkan. Salah satu tantangan dalam pembelajaran ini adalah mengembangkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris pada anak usia dini. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan metode kreatif untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata, salah satunya dengan menggunakan metode Total Physical Response (TPR), di mana siswa diminta untuk menggerakkan tubuh untuk menebak atau mengartikan kata atau kegiatan tertentu. Penelitian ini dilakukan di TK BINA ILMU Parung dengan responden kelompok A dan B. Tujuannya adalah untuk: (1) mengetahui pengaruh metode TPR terhadap penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris, (2) memahami pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan metode TPR, (3) mengevaluasi efektivitas metode TPR dalam pembelajaran, dan (4) mengidentifikasi kendala serta cara mengatasinya. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan beberapa instrumen, yaitu tes kosakata untuk mengukur penguasaan siswa, lembar observasi untuk memantau proses pembelajaran, serta angket untuk menggali respons guru dan siswa terhadap penerapan metode TPR. Penelitian dimulai dengan studi lapangan, identifikasi masalah, perumusan tujuan, dan pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan mengenai efektivitas metode TPR dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris anak usia dini dan menjadi referensi untuk inovasi pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di tingkat tersebut.

Abstract

The canva application is a medium that can support the learning process visually and train students’ visual literacy skills. Canva is an online design that provides various editing tools to create various graphic designs, such as posters, flyers, infographics, banners, invitation cards, presentations, facebook covers, and others, including being a tool editing photos because there is a photo editor, photo filters, photo frames, stickers, icons and grid designs, which is easy to understand even if you are still a beginner. Not only that, Canva can also be accessed via desktop and mobile devices. Thus, users can be creative anytime and anywhere. In everyday life, presentation assignment for students are often chosen by Presentation Material because it can assess students cognitively, affectively, and psychomotorically. Starting from assessing group work, evaluating products, generally in the form of papers and power point files to be presented, speaking skills in front of the class, team cohesion, ability to answer questions, to student behavior during presentations. It’s complete and one more thing is very light because the Presentation Material is all you have to do it sit back, occasionally talk, take your grades, while the students explore the class during the presentation activities. Based on this background, lecturer representatives from the Informatics Engineering study program intend to hold activities aimed at holding training activities for making slides for presentation material for English subjects, using the canva application as a learning medium for Presentation Material at YPUI Vocational School Parung. The solution offered is counseling and training in making presentation slides using the canva application Pamulang University, as a leading campus in the IT field, through this program can provide free training on software processing skills. Participants in this activity were 10-30 people, all of whom were presentation materials at YPUI Vocational School Parung. It is hoped that in the future the limited 10-30 participants can relate learning media in schools. Abstract

Pamulang University as a leading campus in the IT field through this activity can provide free training or workshops that will improve the ability to use the application. This community service aims to increase students' motivation and interest in learning English through the use of advanced translation technology, DeepL Translate. In this digital era, mastering English is certainly the most important thing, but many students have difficulty and lack of motivation in learning it. DeepL Translate, with its accurate and contextual translation capabilities, can be an effective tool to help students understand English texts well. The program will be implemented with a series of workshops and training for students in Vocational High Schools. Participants will also be introduced to the features of DeepL Translate and taught how to use it effectively in the English learning process. In addition, there will be a practical session where students can apply the use of DeepL Translate in various English assignments. The participants of this training are around 20 - 30 students who are all students of SMK YPUI Parung. It is hoped that through this activity, students will experience an increased understanding of English materials, which in turn will increase their motivation and interest in learning this language. Evaluation of the activity will be conducted through pre and post training surveys, as well as direct observation of student performance in English lessons. Abstract

Di era digital, sistem presensi manual masih banyak digunakan di sekolah-sekolah, termasuk SMK YPUI Parung, yang menimbulkan berbagai kendala seperti proses pencatatan yang memakan waktu, rawan manipulasi data, dan sulit direkap secara digital. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan mengimplementasikan teknologi QR Code menggunakan aplikasi Scan IT sebagai sistem presensi di kelas Bahasa Inggris. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi ceramah interaktif, demonstrasi, latihan mandiri, pendampingan, dan evaluasi, dengan melibatkan guru dan siswa kelas X dan XI di SMK YPUI Parung. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama tiga hari pada tanggal 2–4 Mei 2025, dengan subjek sebanyak 20 siswa dan teknik sampling purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, kuisioner, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan guru serta siswa dalam penggunaan sistem presensi digital. Sebanyak 90% guru mampu membuat QR Code dan 95% siswa dapat mengoperasikan aplikasi Scan IT dengan baik. Implementasi sistem presensi digital ini berhasil meningkatkan kehadiran siswa sebesar 10%, menghemat waktu presensi sekitar 5–10 menit per sesi, serta mempermudah rekap data secara otomatis. Meskipun terdapat kendala teknis seperti keterbatasan sinyal dan kesiapan perangkat, semua hambatan berhasil diatasi melalui pendampingan intensif. Program ini terbukti efektif, efisien, dan layak untuk direplikasi di mata pelajaran lain. Kata Kunci: Presensi Digital, QR Code, Scan IT, Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris.
