Abstract

In the learning process that took place in the school, there were generally many problems, including the old paradigm of learning activities, the learning approach used by teachers, less involving students and the use of resources and the medium of learning is minimal creativity. But this can result in not supporting the learning process and not achieving the learning objectives to the fullest. As is the case with the study of English at school, generally not attractive, as a result many learners who are less interested in learning English. The research aims to increase the students' participation in learning English. The type of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) using a qualitative approach with the planning, action, observation, and reflection phases. Prior to the implementation of the research, pre-action. Further research is conducted in two cycles, each cycle consists of three times the meeting. The subject of the research was a grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Kupang in the school year 2018/2019. The data were collected by observations, documentation, and recording, which were analyzed in a descriptive analytics. The result shows that the Contextual Teaching and Learning method can improve the learning outcome of grade VII the students of SMP Negeri 1 Kupang in the school year 2018/2019.

Abstract

The study aims to find out the types of speech acts and the types of speech acts are mostly used in the talk show hitam putih on Trans 7. In this research, the writer used descriptive method. The media was used in this study is the youtube video of the talk show hitam putih on Trans 7. The presenter and the guess sta stars of talk show hitam putih became the subject of the research. Then, the utterances uttered by the presenter and the guess stars became the object of this study. The criteria that were used by the writer in order to analyze the data were based on the types of speech acts given by Austin in (Levinson, 1997:236). The result of this research shows that (1) there are three types of speech acts found in the talk show hitam putih on Trans 7, namely; Illocutionary speech act, lucutionary speech act and perlocutionary speech act; (2) In this study, the illocutionary act that mostly used in talk show Hitam Putih are asking clarity and statement.

Abstract

This writing deals with Analysis of Clitic in Meto Language. The aims of this writing are to identify forms of clitic in Amanatun dialect and determined the meaning of each form of clitic in Amanatun dialect. Due the topic discussed; this writing is conducted by using descriptive method. To obtain the data, the writer took the native speakers of Meto Language in Santian Village. In finding the data the writer took five informantas. In collecthing the data, the writer used questionnaire as the instrument. The result, of the writing concluded that the clitic on Amanatun dialect of Meto Language, consist of two parts: Proclitic and Enclitic. Proclitic covering [m-], [n-] and [t-]. Enclitic [-kuk], [-kum] and [-kun].

Abstract

Artikel ini menyajikan sebuah telaah kritis terhadap Peraturan Gubernur Nusa Tenggara Timur Nomor 25 Tahun 2024 tentang Kurikulum Muatan Lokal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif menggunakan Analisis Wacana Kritis Fairclough.   Temuan penelitian ini menyoroti adanya ketimpangan kekuasaan simbolik dan struktural yang tertanam dalam teks kebijakan, serta memperlihatkan bagaimana kebijakan bahasa dapat berfungsi sebagai instrumen marginalisasi sosiolinguistik. Artikel ini ditutup dengan seruan untuk melakukan reorientasi paradigma dalam pengembangan kurikulum lokal yang berpusat pada prinsip inklusivitas, berbasis komunitas, serta mengintegrasikan pendekatan pendidikan multibahasa yang menjadikan keberagaman linguistik sebagai sumber daya pedagogis sekaligus budaya.

Abstract

The primary aim is to assess students' understanding and application of punctuation rules while identifying common challenges faced in their writing. Employing a qualitative methods approach, data were gathered through writing samples and surveys to provide a comprehensive evaluation of punctuation skills. Findings reveal varying levels of proficiency, with notable difficulties in fundamental punctuation rules that adversely impact overall writing quality. The analysis highlights patterns of struggle and the effectiveness of current instructional practices. The discussion emphasizes the need for targeted pedagogical strategies to address these gaps, advocating for practical exercises and personalized feedback in the curriculum. Overall, this research contributes valuable insights into punctuation proficiency, offering recommendations to enhance writing skills and instructional methods, ultimately shaping competent future educators and enriching the educational experience.
