Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers suffered by women throughout the world, including Indonesia. This disease is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and attacks cervical tissue. Even though HPV vaccination and screening programs are available, cervical cancer is still a major health problem in many countries, including Indonesia. This article provides an overview of cervical cancer, including risk factors, symptoms, diagnostic methods, and prevention strategies that can be used to reduce the burden of this disease. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cervical cancer is the main cause of cancer deaths among women in developing countries (WHO, 2020). However, cervical cancer can mostly be prevented with HPV vaccination and regular check-ups with pap smears and HPV tests. Routine screening is an effective way to detect precancerous changes in the cervix, allowing for early treatment before cancer develops (American Cancer Society, 2021). This research has a sample of 16 people using a quasi-experimental research type with a posttest only control group design. Based on the results of statistical data analysis using the Spearman's test with SPSS, the result was a value (asymptotic Sig 2-sided) p-value = <0.006. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there is a Relationship Between Age And Parity And The Incident Of Cervical Ca At Jailolo Hospital

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive in children under five due to chronic malnutrition, which has an impact on children's physical growth and cognitive development. Mother's parenting style is one of the factors that influences the incidence of stunting in toddlers. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal parenting patterns and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 12-59 months in the Duono Community Health Center working area. This study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 16 toddlers selected using purposive sampling. Data was collected through interviews using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between maternal parenting variables and the incidence of stunting. The results of the study show that there is a significant relationship between maternal parenting patterns and the incidence of stunting in toddlers (p < 0.05). Good parenting tends to reduce the risk of stunting in toddlers, while poor parenting increases the risk of stunting. Maternal parenting has an important role in preventing stunting in toddlers. Interventions involving education and increasing mothers' capacity in caring for children need to be improved to reduce stunting rates in the Duono Community Health Center working area.

Abstract

The high rate of population growth is a probleml facing Indonesia. The long terml contraceptive mlethod (MLKJP) is an effective and efficient contraceptive mlethod that can be used for a long period of timle to prevent pregnancies. Contraceptive devices included are intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD/Spiral), subcutaneous contraceptive devices (Imlplants), and steady contraception. This research is quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The population and samlple were mlothers with the criteria of womlen of childbearing age (WUS) as famlily planning acceptors who visited and sought care at the Jailolo City Health Center, West Halmlahera Regency. The samlple size consisted of 60 respondents. Data were collected by interviews using a structured questionnaire, the results of data collection were analyzed using univariate and bivariate statistics with the Chi Square Test using a comlputer programl with a significance value (α) of 0.05. The results of the univariate analysis show that the mlajority of respondents do not use MLKJP famlily planning, the mlajority of respondents have sufficient knowledge and the mlajority of respondents' attitudes are adequate. Bivariate analysis showed the results that there was a relationship between knowledge and the use of MLKJP famlily planning (p-value = 0.001) and there was a relationship between attitudes towards the use of MLKJP famlily planning (p-value = 0.000). It is recomlmlended for relevant agencies to increase cross-sector collaboration in an effort to increase respondents' knowledge and attitudes about the advantages and disadvantages of using MLKJP KB. It is hoped that by increasing the knowledge possessed by respondents about MLKJP famlily planning, it is hoped that respondents' attitudes regarding the use of contraception for MLKJP famlily planning will imlprove. And will influence the increase in the numlber of MLKJP KB users.

Abstract

Estrogen causes the growth of lactobacillus colonies in the vagina which convert glycogen in superficial vaginal cells into lactic acid, resulting in a low vaginal pH which can inhibit the invasion of pathogenic bacteria. After menopause, lactobacillus growth is inhibited, vaginal secretions become thin, vaginal pH increases and the immune system becomes low. This study aims to determine the effect of Lactobacillus Casei extract on secretory immunoglobulin A levels and reduce vaginal acidity levels (pH) and increase the number of beneficial bacteria in the vaginal mucosa. The research design used was an experimental study with a post-test-only control group design using 24 female rats aged 8-10 weeks with a weight of 180-220 grams. Before treatment, the rats were ovariectomized, and the acclimation period was 14 days, then divided into 4 groups, namely: (K) without treatment, P1 received Lactobacillus Casei extract at a dose of 2ml / rat, P2 at a dose of 2.25ml / rat, and P3 at a dose of 2.5ml / rat. Lactobacillus Casei extract was given orally for 14 days. On the 15th day all rats were terminated. Vaginal acidity levels were measured using the swab method and IgA was measured using the ELISA method, while for bacterial identification tests, gram-positive staining was performed. The results of the one-way ANOVA test showed that Lactobacillus Casei extract can increase IgA levels and significantly reduce vaginal acidity levels by p = 0.003 and p = 0.000. The decrease in acidity levels is due to the deordelin bacillus which converts glycogen into lactic acid so that the vagina remains acidic, as well as the role of S-IgA on the surface of the vaginal mucosa which functions as an opsonin and APC (antigen-presenting Cell) to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the vagina. This study concludes that the administration of Lactobacillus Casei extract can increase secretory Immunoglobulin A (S-IgA) levels and reduce vaginal acidity (pH) to normal.

Abstract

Background: Anemia during pregnancy is a global health concern that affects both maternal and fetal well-being. Iron supplementation is the primary treatment. However, its effectiveness is often hindered by poor adherence due to gastrointestinal side effects. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) essential oil has demonstrated antioxidant and hematopoietic potential, suggesting its utility as a complementary therapy. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of inhaled rosemary essential oil in improving hemoglobin concentration and reducing anemia releated symptoms among second trimester pregnant women with mild to moderate anemia. Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was utilized with 60 pregnant women who were randomly assigned to intervention (n=30) and control (n=30) groups. The intervention group inhaled rosemary essential oil for 15 minutes twice day throughout a duration of four weeks, while both groups continued iron supplementation. Hemoglobin levels were measured pre and post intervention using a hematology analyser, and anemia symptoms (fatigue, dizziness and shortness of breath) were assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results: The intervention group showed a significantly greater increase in hemoglobin levels compared to the control group (+1,20 g/dL vs. +0,40 g/dL; p<0,001), indicating improvement in clinical symptoms of anemia. Conclusions: Inhalation of rosemary essential oil signicantly improves hemoglobin concentration and alleviates anemia related symptoms in pregnant women. It offers a safe, natural and non-invasive complementary approach to enhance maternal health during pregnancy.
