Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the participation of the people of Penglipuran village in developing their village as a tourism village. Tourism development in an area certainly needed to be supported by the surrounding community. For this reason, community participation was essential, especially in tourism areas such as Penglipuran Tourism Village, Bali Island. The research applied a constructivism paradigm with descriptive qualitative research methods. The informants interviewed were the leaders of the traditional village, commonly called Kelian, as well as the people in Penglipuran village. The answers from the informants were analyzed using the theory of social change and the theory of community participation. Based on the results, community participation in Penglipuran village is on the partnership ladder. Currently, it is classified as a success because there is an opportunity for the community to be actively involved in conveying it to the village government. According to Cohen and Uphoff, in the decision-making process, Kelian, as a traditional village leader, has limited authority in connection with the concept of community participation. Program planning and decisions are formulated with all members of the village community. Likewise, during the implementation and evaluation stages of the program, even at the stage of enjoying the results, the entire village community is also involved.

Abstract

The existence of Bekasi City Batik, which has been around since 2014, is not yet widely known by the wider community, even by the people of Bekasi City themselves. For this reason, this community service activity aims to increase the capacity of tourism actors who are members of the Bekasi City Batik Community (KOMBAS) through training local tour guides and managing interactive content on social media. This activity is designed to optimize the potential of batik tourism as a local cultural asset as well as to increase public awareness of Bekasi City Batik so that it can reach a wide range, not only the people of Bekasi City but also the archipelago and is even expected to be global. The method used in this community service is in the form of direct or face-to-face offline training, then a simulation of tour guiding practices through storytelling is also carried out, as well as the practice of creating and managing interesting and interactive social media content. The results of the community service program carried out showed that participants were enthusiastic about participating in the training and there was an increase in knowledge and skills for each training of 40 % for local tour guide training and 20% for social media content training. It is hoped that the two trainings provided to members of the Bekasi City Batik Community (KOMBAS) can be implemented so that they can increase tourism in Bekasi City and also increase public awareness of Bekasi City Batik.

Abstract

This study aims to discover how Gen Z discusses the COVID-19 vaccine through social media discussion, participation, and ideas in a virtual public space. Recently, online media coverage has been massive, especially regarding the COVID-19 vaccine produced in Indonesia or purchased by the Indonesian government from foreign countries. Another thing that was also discussed was the priority of the vaccine recipients, which ministers in Indonesia presented with different approaches. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, emphasized that lecturers and teachers are prioritized to receive vaccines. Previously, the coordinating minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, said medical personnel was prioritized. The Chief Executive of COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KPCPEN), Erick Thohir, also stated that health workers were a priority. Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Terawan, noted that the priority for vaccine recipients is medic, paramedic, public services, TNI/Polri, and all educators. This variety of information and news is understood differently by the Indonesian people, including among Gen Z. Using the virtual public sphere, where freedom of expression in a democratic manner is the key to the emancipatory communication process. This research method uses extensive data analysis to collect conversations about the COVID-19 vaccine on social media, especially on Twitter, from 1-31 March 2021. The results show that although Generation Z is actively involved in the COVID-19 Vaccine discussion, they are not The Prominent Key Opinion Leader (KOL), who is the key player in communicating this issue via Twitter.
