Abstract

Learning Arabic language has the ideal conditions that students want to achieve. therefore, the ideal condition is highly dependent on various factors. This research discusses the views or perspectives on the Arabic Language from students of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon that are enrolled in different faculties. This research contains several objectives: primarily to learn the direct thoughts of students on the Arabic language and its relevance within both national and international level. In addition, this study reveals the academic conditions of the students that has a direct correlation towards their preparedness and desire to receive studying materials in one semester whilst studying during first semester 2019 in from the total amount of sample that consists of 109 students. The researcher utilizes the survey method to perform the study along with empty cards as an aiding tool which was distributed among students. The empty papers that were provided were given to let students write their brief reasonings behind their perspective on Arabic Language. The outcome of this study shows that there were 40% of students having negative views towards the Arabic language, 45% of students with positive views while 10% of the research sample combines themes or contents closely related to the Arabic language. Furthermore, 5% of student gave suggestions and ideas for learning Arabic language. This research has contributed in several ways especially in understanding the student?s perspectives and opinions on Arabic language and help the lecturers to identify suitable teaching methods to use during the learning and teaching process.

Abstract

This research emphasizes the overlooked importance of educational resources in Arabic language teaching for non-native speakers. It highlights the risks of choosing resources that do not align with students' preferences; the psychological impact of instructional materials on students' learning experiences is underscored by a call for building resources on psychological foundations for maximum effectiveness. The research employs a quantitative methodology. The survey, consisting of quantitative and qualitative questions, is administered to education practitioners and specialists. The study follows a descriptive method of data collection and analysis, emphasizing the quantitative aspects of the survey while also including qualitative insights from participants. Results have demonstrated the positive influence of educational materials on student performance. However, the psychological impact requires further investigation in teaching Arabic to non-native speaker.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sastra bandingan dengan fokus penelitian membandingkan struktur instrinsik yang ada dalam novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck dan Majnun Laila, meliputi: tema, alur, tokoh dan penokohan, dan latar. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan dan persamaan antara novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck dan Majnun Laila. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif analitik dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan simak dan catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perbandingan antara novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck dan Majnun Laila terdapat beberapa perbedaan dan persamaan. Adapun persamaan antara novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck dan Majnun Laila terletak pada tema dan alur. Tema yang terdapat pada kedua novel tersebut ialah cinta. Terdapat satu peristiwa yang membuat alur kedua novel ini terlihat sama, yaitu tokoh utama yang terdapat dalam novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck dan Majnun Laila berakhir dengan kematian, membawa cintanya yang tulus ke alam baka. Sedangkan perbedaan yang terdapat dalam novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck dan Majnun Laila ialah latar dan tokoh penokohan. Latar yang digunakan pengarang dalam novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck yaitu di Indonesia. Sedangkan novel Majnun Laila berlatarkan di Arab. Tokoh dan penokohan yang terdapat dalam kedua novel pun berbeda. Jika tokoh utama dalam novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck memiliki watak lembut ahli mengarang hikayat, tokoh utama dalam novel Majnun Laila ialah ahli syair.

Abstract

The importance of this research is centered on the necessity of studying common, thorny terms in Arab and Islamic sciences. Perhaps the most prominent of these terms is “context.” Context is not a loose term as it seems, but it is a term of great specificity and importance in multiple sciences. Which prompted the researchers to study its linguistic and terminological significance, and its interpretation among the ancients and moderns. The research aimed to: clarify what is meant by context linguistically and terminologically among the ancients and moderns, present and define the terms that are associated with the concept of context in the Arab and Islamic sciences, and investigate the significance of that term and edit its concept in the various arts that It is widely used, and the research has adopted several approaches to reach its desired goals. He adopted the historical and investigative approaches in tracing the term context among the ancients and moderns in the sciences that used it. He also adopted the analytical and deductive approaches in analyzing the definitions of this term and the terms that come into contact with it. To liberate the concept of context among the ancients and moderns; This is to reach a number of results, the most important of which are: The ancient scholars of the nation - may God Almighty have mercy on them - did not prefer a clear definition of context when they studied any of the arts that used that term, nor did the modern scholars agree on a single definition of context during its circulation as a term in a number of Arab and Islamic sciences. The research was able to collect the definitions of the term “context” by collecting various definitions of terms that came into contact with the term “context” and were linked to it, explaining what was meant by that term among the ancients, and liberating the term “context” among the ancients through their talk about it and their use of it. The research was also able to collect the most important definitions. The innovators of that term, with distinction and comparison between them in terms of combination and prevention.

Abstract

The object of this research is the Arabic diction of debaters in the scholarly arabic debate competition organized by the Indonesian Arabic Student Association (ITHLA) at the IX 2021 congress. This study aims to explain some of the Arabic diction mistakes made by debaters in the Arabic scientific debate competition in Indonesia. In addition, this study also provides an alternative Arabic diction that should be used when conveying ideas in scholarly debates. This research method is a type of descriptive qualitative research. The source of research data is transcription obtained from two stages, namely observation and documentation. This study shows that there are many grammatical and diction errors used by the debaters. In general, the errors can be classified as follows: Errors in unsuitable use of ḥarf al-jar, errors in the use of vocabulary, country name, adjectives, word construction, singular and plural, error words, junctions, incorrect use of conjunctions, etc. After understanding these grammatical and diction errors, it is hoped that they can improve students' Arabic skills at the upcoming Arabic scientific debate.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to hear teachers’ voices in relation to curriculum development in an Islamic school in Pattani, Thailand. With their experiences as intellectuals and practitioners of teaching in Islamic schools, curriculum development cannot neglect them, as has been happened in the past. Teachers were not involved in the curriculum development, and let it be decided by politicians. With many aspects occur in the global life change, come up an idea to integrate English, Arabic, ICT skills, and tahfidz in an Islamic school curriculum in Thailand. The study employed qualitative research using a questionnaire with a combination of closed- and open-ended items. 14 teachers participated in the study and filled out the questionnaire. The open-ended items’ results were calculated using percentage, and the open-ended items’ responses were analyzed using Christensen’s theory of the job-to-be-done. The result shows that teachers’ perception was negative, indicating that their involvement in the curriculum was not accommodated. However, in the context of curriculum development, teachers actually know the job to be done, what experiences needed so the job to-be-done, and has conducted limited actions or practices for the job-to-be-done. This study implies that teachers’ voices should be heard more than before, especially in the context of curriculum development. With the limitation of the study, such as numbers of participants participated, this study can be used as a basis for further discussion and curriculum empowerment using intercultural perspective for the development of school curriculum, especially the curriculum of Islamic schools.

Abstract

Banyak ilmuwan telah menjelaskan keunggulan bahasa Arab dari berbagai aspeknya, namun belum ada yang menjelaskan secara spesifik tentang keunggulan bahasa Arab dari aspek kebahasaannya sendiri. Kajian ini berupaya menggali dan memaknai keutamaan bahasa Arab dari segi lingusitik berdasarkan pendapat Ibnu Katsir yang berpendapat bahwa bahasa Arab adalah bahasa yang paling fasih, paling jelas, paling luas, dan paling bermakna bagi jiwa. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kepustakaan dengan analisis isi deskriptif. Penelitian ini sampai pada kesimpulan bahwa bahasa Arab memiliki keunggulan aspek linguistik karena empat alasan. Pertama, bahasa Arab adalah bahasa yang paling fasih karena memiliki fonologi unik yang disebut Makharijul Huruf. Kedua, bahasa Arab adalah bahasa yang paling jelas karena bahasa Arab memiliki Ilmu Balaghah dengan berbagai aspeknya. Ketiga, bahasa Arab merupakan bahasa dengan perbendaharaan kata dan makna yang paling luas karena bahasa Arab memiliki konsep untuk menghasilkan banyak makna kalimat, di antaranya konsep al-Isytiqaq (derivasi), al-Mutaradif (sinonim), dan al-Musytarak al-lafdzi (polisemi). Keempat, bahasa Arab dapat sangat bermakna bagi jiwa karena Ilmu Uslub yang dapat menyampaikan makna yang efektif.

Abstract

This study aims to shed light on the efforts made to digitalize the materials of the applied art of translation course by converting its materials into video clips and a printed textbook. The importance of this study is also because it reveals methods of teaching translation, as it combines science, art, practice, and application, in addition to the process of digitizing the material. This study followed the descriptive approach that focuses on describing the studied material, dealing with the general description, characteristics, teaching methods, and everything related to it in a complete scientific study. The researchers reached essential results, the most important of which is that the digitization of the materials is possible, and two things did it: digitizing the materials through video clips and issuing the printed textbook. As for the first, it consists of video clips according to the subjects prescribed in the study plan, and in total, there were 14 videos, which helped the learners to understand the materials well, in addition to their possibilities to refer to them when, how, and where they want. The second digitization was done by preparing a printed textbook distinguished by its theoretical and practical aspects, with a lexical witness for all the words used in the models presented, with reference to the extensive dictionary of the Indonesian language.
