Abstract

ABSTRACT Isolator is an important component that must be maintained to keep electric power transmission and distribution system reliability. Isolators are susceptible to failure due to the environment, because they are directly exposed to conditions where the insulator installed. Ceramic insulator is one type of isolator that is often used, which has advantages including mechanical strength that is quite reliable. However, the lack of this type of isolator is its hydrophilic surface, which is easy to absorb water so that when used at high humidity tends to trigger a leakage current. Leakage current is an important parameter in an insulator because it can be a cause due to insulator failure. To find out how environmental conditions impact on leakage currents along day, a ceramic isolator is tested within 24 hours. Leakage current data is taken every 3 hours to see the changes based on changes in humidity, and ambient temperature. The result is the higher humidity of the air, and the lower ambient temperature, can make insulator leakage current rise up. The results of this study can be used as a reference to anticipate the failure of ceramic insulators due to leakage currents so that the reliability of the electric power system can be maintained. Keywords: ceramic insulator, environtment, humidity, temperature.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn practice, many rooms do not have light ventilation, so they use light sources for up to 24 hours. This study aims to design a sistem that can minimize the use of electricity for lighting using a solatube sistem. Solatube provide a signal to the dimmer that regulates the light capacity of the lamp thus it does not always require full performance. Based on the test results, the solatube sistem can produce a maximum light intensity value that can meet the standards for the reading room, which is more than 350 Lux with the percentage of light being only 1% - 79%, especially during the use of daytime loads. This shows that with solatube lighting sistem, power consumption for lighting can be reduced, thereby increasing energy and cost savings. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe 20 kV distribution line of ULP Sukaraja is a fairly long distribution line. This allows for considerable voltage drops and power losses. When the load is in Peak Load Time (WBP) the voltage received at the PAIGD substation is 18.794 kV or the voltage drop is 6.53%. This means that the voltage drop that occurs in the 20 kV distribution system of ULP Sukaraja is not in accordance with the SPLN 72: 1987 standard of a maximum of 5%. The research method modelled the power flow in the distribution system using the ETAP application. The results showed that based on several alternative solutions simulated, to reduce the voltage drop and the best power loss is for the short term with the network manoeuvre method because it can provide the highest cost reduction of Rp 1,065,175,911.35 per year while for the long term with the conductor replacement method accompanied by tap changer settings with the lowest voltage drop of 2.85%.Keywords: Drop voltage, ETAP, Losses, PAIGD, ULP Sukaraja

Abstract

Based on the emergence of increasingly advanced technology, the conventional power grid can be upgraded to a smart grid by adding bidirectional communication, computer algorithms, and equipment that uses artificial intelligence (AI). A smart grid is a revolution in the current electricity network that can control the two-way generation and transmission process by utilizing an intelligent system so that the distribution of electric power can be handled optimally and in real time. The challenge of the smart grid is that there are distributed generators and microgrids that must be controlled in real time with rapidly changing loads. To meet these criteria, several points are proposed, i.e., finding an effective procedure to construct self-healing capability; developing a protection system based on AI; and proposing a systematic procedure to realize self-healing and protection systems with the help of a multi-agent system (MAS). Multi-agent systems are one of the AI approaches. Each agent can work independently and can also communicate with one another and with other devices on the network. Agents used as models can be classified into several categories, such as grid component agents, distributed resource agents, end-user agents, failure control agents, data analysis agents, and graphical visualization agents.
