Abstract

Widely language is interconnected, language, for example, as a means of expression in advertising. Wonderful Indonesia conducted with the aim to analyze the linguistic aspects of the narrator's danger style in persuading from the public or the public about the greatness of Indonesia. The main purpose of this research is to remove the kind of language style features including lexical patterns and lexicon-syntax options that can be metaphorical and prosodic features in the movements of audiences or listeners that are implemented in the advertising of Wonderful Indonesia choice. This research uses a content analysis research design with stilistika approach. The findings show the narrator in the advertisement Wonderful Indonesia applies two types of stylistics with lexical patterns that become: repetition, parallelism, and numbers. The second type is the lexico-syntactic option (figurative language) which is: antithesis and personification.

Abstract

This article is concerned with ethnicity view in two novel namely Khaled Husain?s The Kite Runner and Paulo Coelho The Alchemist by using comparative literature approach. The problems which are proposed are (1) How are the ethnicity view in  The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and  The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho?, and (2) What are the similarities and the differences of the ethnicity view in  The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and  The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho?. To answer the problems, the researcher applies comparative literature theory and ethnicity theory and. In this study, the researcher employs a qualitative approach because several typical characteristics of qualitative are present in this study. In collecting the data the researcher uses the following procedures are used: (1) Selecting the novel, (2) reading the novel deeply, (3) selecting element of novels contain of ethnic view. After analyzing, the researcher finds After analyzing the two novels, it can be concluded that both of them have similarities and also differences.  The similarities are both of novels same contain one of the conceptions driven by Marx is the primacy of the economic base over the cultural and thus superstructure. The ethnics who have economic power will control other powerless. The Kite Runner and The Alchemist clearly describe that phenomenon. The facts that people are honored because of their status and wealth are true. The tribal wars will produce the winner that has economic power for the weapons and so on. The groups of different culture are rooted economically. When once they win the tribal war by economic power, they will oppress the other ethnics which powerless in economy. In fact thus condition describe in both of novels. The differences both of those novels are: in The Kite Runner the ethnic?s sentimentalism of the powerful economics (higher structure) is stronger, meanwhile in The Alchemist the sentimentalism of the powerful economics (higher structure) is lower. Although both of them were describe of the power of economic to oppress the poor tribal.

Abstract

This activity aims to provide training and assistance for English language learning programs outside class hours using a hybrid learning approach. This community service takes the form of assisting an English language club in the form of an English Corner to become a forum for learning English which will later become one of the school's extra-curricular activities. The results of the achievements of ECEL participants during the training program both in terms of cognitive and skills are in line with expectations, namely (1) participants are able to understand the ECEL program material by 95%, (2) participants are able to practice speaking English with the ECEL learning model by 85%, (3) participants stated that the ECEL program could be applied to students learning to speak English (speaking) as much as 100%, (4) participants stated that the learning module designed by the Abdimas team could be applied to the ECEL program as much as 99% and (5) participants felt that the program ECEL is effective, fun and we hope that in the following years 95% more activities like this program will be held.

Abstract

Abstrak (Bahasa Indonesia) Sekolah yang berada di tengah lingkungan perkotaan sering kali menghadapi tantangan unik karena pengaruh dari kemajuan teknologi yang pesat. Salah satu sekolah tertinggal yang berada diantara wilayah perkotaan adalah sekolah SMA YPM 3 Sumobito yang berada di Desa Sumobito Kabupaten Jombang. Siswa-siswi yang bersekolah didominasi berasal dari perekonomian keluarga tingkat menengah ke bawah, umumnya memiliki pengetahuan yang terbatas tentang pentingnya pendidikan di era 5.0. Kurangnya pemahaman ini berakibat pada rendahnya pengetahuan yang tidak terlepas dari peran penggunaan teknologi dan rendahnya tindakan untuk mendukung keberlanjutan penggunaan teknologi pendidikan di era 5.0. Siswa-siswi lebih fokus pada sekedar lulus untuk mendapatkan ijazah dan mengambil keuntungan jangka pendek. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan program kegiatan berupa pelatihan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa-siswi mengenai pentingnya penggunaan teknologi pembelajaran dalam dunia pendidikan di era 5.0. yang tidak dapat terlepas dari penggunaan teknologi, untuk mengembalikan dukungan, minat belajar, serta mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa-siswa dalam membuat media pembelajaran yang lebih menarik agar proses pembelajaran tidak monoton untuk mendukung keberlanjutan pendidikan yang lebih maju. Program ini mencakup berbagai kegiatan seperti edukasi pemaparan materi, kegiatan tanya jawab, praktik pembuatan PPT melalui Canva secara berkelompok, serta presentasi hasil PPT yang telah dibuat. Respon siswa-siswi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman siswa tentang pentingnya pendidikan di era 5.0, yang tercermin dari antusiasme, minat belajar, serta keterlibatan aktif mereka dalam mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan. Setelah program kegiatan ini, diharapkan siswa-siswi SMA YPM 3 Sumobito dapat menjadi lebih sadar akan pentingnya dalam beradaptasi pada kemajuan pendidikan di era 5.0 sebagai bagian integral dari kehidupan mereka, serta mampu mempertahankan dan meningkatkan kualitas sekolah Sumobito meskipun berada ditengah tekanan kemajuan teknologi yang pesat. Kata Kunci: Pendidikan, Sekolah Tertinggal, Pelatihan, Teknologi, Canva Abstract (Bahasa inggris) Schools located in the middle of urban environments often face unique challenges due to the influence of rapid technological advances. One of the underdeveloped schools located among urban areas is YPM 3 Sumobito High School in Sumobito Village, Jombang Regency. The students who attend the school are predominantly from lower-middle class families, who generally have limited knowledge about the importance of education in the 5.0 era. This lack of understanding results in low knowledge that is inseparable from the role of technology use and low action to support the continued use of educational technology in the 5.0 era. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct an activity program in the form of training to increase students' knowledge about the importance of the use of learning technology in the world of education in the 5.0 era. which cannot be separated from the use of technology, to restore support, interest in learning, and encourage active involvement of students in making more interesting learning media so that the learning process is not monotonous to support the sustainability of more advanced education. This program includes various activities such as educational material exposure, question and answer activities, practice making PPT through Canva in groups, and presentation of PPT results that have been made. The students' responses showed an increase in students' knowledge and understanding of the importance of education in the 5.0 era, which was reflected in their enthusiasm, interest in learning, and active involvement in participating in training activities. After this activity program, it is hoped that YPM 3 Sumobito High School students can become more aware of the importance of adapting to educational progress in the 5.0 era as an integral part of their lives, as well as being able to maintain and improve the quality of Sumobito schools despite being under the pressure of rapid technological advances.

Abstract

Writing scientific papers is an essential component in the evaluation of e-performance; however, many teachers have not yet been able to achieve this due to a lack of knowledge about writing and publishing scientific work. The community service activity aims to enhance the academic literacy capacity of teachers at MTsN 9 Jombang through the GENBOCHA Workshop (Gerakan Menulis Book Chapter or the Book Chapter Writing Movement). The approach used is Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), which positions teachers as active partners in the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages of the program. The activity was carried out through a series of training sessions, participatory discussions, and intensive mentoring. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding and skills related to the structure and techniques of book chapter writing. This initiative also fostered the development of a sustainable literacy community within the madrasah.

Abstract

This research focuses to finding out the Character Values in Narrative Texts of English textbook “Buku Guru Bahasa Inggris” for Senior High School published by The Ministry of Education and Culture, to what extent character values was applied in the narrative texts, and how did teachers and students responses on the integration of character values in those English textbooks especially in narrative texts material and their implementation in teaching process and in daily life. In this design, the researcher has used qualitative and descriptive approach also the data were written description. In collecting the data the researcher used cluster random sampling and the researcher is the main instrument in collecting, identifying, analyzing and discussing the data. After doing the research, the research found character values found by the researcher in those narrative texts include hardwork, brave, helpful, kind-hearted, merciful, honesty, responsible, patient, spiritful, confidence, and loyalty. Then, there are four until six character values in each story. The results of this study also convinced that the teachers and students of Senior high school in Jombang has been implementing character education in teaching and learning activities, including in English subject and especially in narrative text material.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is a crucial skill that students must master to understand texts effectively. Choosing the proper techniques for teaching reading and making lessons attractive and effective are essential factors determining the success of the learning process in education. This study aims to know whether the student reading narrative text with the gist strategy achieves better than students reading the narrative text without using the gist strategy. A total of 60 students consisting of two classes (a control class and an experimental class) at SMK PGRI 1 Jombang participated in this study. The design of quasi-experimental was used in this study. This research used test instruments (pre-test and post-test) with multiple-choice questions using Google Forms. This study revealed a significant difference (p-value 0,011) in student learning outcomes scores in the experimental and control classes. Pertaining to this, schools can improvise the curriculum by applying GIST in certain learning subjects to improve student understanding.

Abstract

Pondok Pesantren Al-Amin Mojokerto is developing an effective English Language Teaching. Language program of Madrasah, under 2013 Curriculum, and pesantren, which has no guideline, cannot go together to help students mastering English. The unavailability of syllabus as guideline becomes a major problem. By conducting Research and Development (R&D) the researcher developed an integrated English syllabus for all English teaching in madrasah and pesantren. The syllabus was integrated syllabus for MTs level. It integrated madrasah language teaching, pesantren language teaching covering morning program, conversation and khitobah. Government demand (2013 curriculum), institution expecation and students’ needs are accomodated with this syllabus.
