Abstract

This research is aimed to revel the personality determinant and Veronika`s ego-state. The theory that applied in this research is personality determinant by Elizabeth Hurlock and transactional analysis proposed by Eric Berne. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method. The condition that Veronika experiences is that her mother in determining her future pressures Veronika`s life. Everything that she wants to do, it must be controlled by her mother. Finally, she feels tired living with that condition therefore she prefers to end up her life through suicide. Unlikely, she is failure in doing it. It is found out aspiration and achievement, education, social, emotion, family, sex, physical, and intellectual factor determinant her personality. However, her personality is dominant by family factor. Her view in relationship toward a life and death are she feels happy living when she was to child. However, she feels empty when she is adult women and has everything. She gets bored with her routine activity such as go for working in the morning and gets back in the afternoon. She has not any purpose of life anymore. Since living the mental hospital, her life rise back. She understands the meaning of life through motivation from her friends and love from young man. There are three aspects of her ego-state within her such as parents, adult, and child aspects. However, the adult ego state determinates from them all.

Abstract

The program is aimed at empowering the Penelando community members which is unified in Tourism awareness arisen community at the Sagik Mateng village. The team of lecturers from English study department of Mandalika University of Education conducted a program by providing training and practical guidance of English conversation to fifteen members of the culture Community of Penelando Jerowaru, East Lombok. Through this program, the team of lecturers empowered the community members by trasfering English language skills. The four crucial steps: planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of method were used in the implementing the program . The mastery of the English language skills can be used to introduce the local culture to the tourists who come to visit the village. Mastering English enables the local community to interact with the international world. As well as allowing themto actively participate in sustainable tourism promotion. Through English mastery, the community may enrich multicultural education, as well as developing local arts and cultures tobe enjoyed by the global audiences. The English language skills mastered by the community are expected to preserve local identity, ensuring that cultural values and traditions remain alive in the context of globalization. By the end of the program, the team were successfully integrated English as a strategic tool to preserve and promote the unique local culture of Sagik Mateng village on the international stage through visiting tourists.

Abstract

This research was aimed to know The Effectiveness of SQRC Technique Towards Students’ in Reading Comprehension  at the Second grade  students of SMP Nurul Madinah . The design of this research was pre experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design. The population of this research  was second grade  students’ consist of 1 class, the class was consisted of 20 students. So, the total sample of this research was 20 students. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test. Experimental class was treated by using SQRC learning model that used to analyze the data was t-test formula. From the data analysis, it was found that the result of t-test (4.53) was higher than t-table (1.725). The mean score of  pre-test of experimental group was (71.6), and the mean score of post-test of experimental group was (77). Based on the result above, the researcher concluded that The Effectiveness of SQRC Technique Towards Students’ in Reading Comprehension  at the Second grade  students of  SMP Nurul Madinah . It means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (H0) is rejected.

Abstract

Community service is the implementation of knowledge gained in schools, or lecturing process formally or informally. This community service aimed at giving English language training towards students of TK Melati Indah Sayang-Sayang, Cakranegara Mataram. This community service used lecturing, practice, and discussion. The respondents consisted of 30 students. The result of the training concluded that English language training towards students of TK Melati Indah Sayang-Sayang, Cakranegara Mataram was successful. It is proved from the students’ enthusiasm within the process of the training and their learning achievement after giving the training. Thus, the training of English language to the students is highly important especially in TK Melati Indah Sayang-Sayang as they will be the agent of change and future generation who will acquire English language well. Through this training, students of TK Melati Indah Sayang-Sayang are expected to have knowledge and basic experience to communicate through English language as their foundation and motivation to develop their skill.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of reading interest of visitors to the Reading Park located in Penujak Village, West Praya District, Central Lombok Regency.The literacy of this reading park with the aim of educating the community that the importance of reading and the importance of literacy as a reference to increase knowledge This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive qualitative to design research and data obtained with research that is prepared qualitatively. The data collection technique, in this study, used four steps, namely interview, recording, and shooting. The interviews used are freely guided interviews, in this study the researcher conducted interviews twice a day in depth, the first interview started at 08.00 to 12.30, and the second interview started at 02.00 to 06.00. In one day, it takes two to four interviews. From the results of the interviews conducted, it is known that the total number of visitors for one week was 116 visitors. However, only 13 visitors were participants, the visitors came from different social statuses, different ages, and different villages. The Data Analysis procedures used are data reduction, data display, and conclusion and verification. The results of this study show that all visitors in Reading Park Literacy have an interest in learning, From the results obtained, it can be seen that reading interest in Reading Garden Literacy is the highest among children.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effect of implementing a constructivist approach in English language learning on students' understanding of teaching principles. The constructivist approach, which emphasizes students' active role in constructing knowledge through social interaction, reflection, and direct experience, is expected to improve students' understanding of English teaching theories. This study used an experimental design with an experimental group receiving constructivist-based learning and a control group using traditional methods. The research sample consisted of 35 4th semester students of the English Education Study Program at Mandalika University of Education, who were selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through written tests to measure the understanding of teaching principles, as well as questionnaires to measure students' perceptions of the application of constructivist approaches in learning. Based on the test results, there was an increase in the average pre-test score from 63 to 85 after the application of the constructivist approach, which showed a significant increase of 35%. In addition, questionnaire data showed that 78% of students felt more involved in learning after applying the constructivist approach. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test to test for significant differences between the experimental and control groups. The results showed that the implementation of constructivist approach in English language learning has a positive influence on students' understanding of teaching principles. Students who engaged in constructivist learning experienced a significant increase in understanding compared to those who used traditional methods. The study also found that the factors of motivation and active involvement of students in learning played an important role in the successful implementation of the constructivist approach.

Abstract

This research is aimed to develop speaking skill through the presentation Practice Product (Triple P) to develop speaking skill at second grade students of SMPN 5 Sekotong Barat in academic year 2024/2025. The objective of the study was to know how can the Presentation Practice Product (Triple P) to develop students speaking skill. This research belongs to classroom action research with 4 procedures they are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting or mix method, qualitative method and quantitative method. The technique of collecting the data was pre-test and post-test. The instrument of the research used three types of getting the data were written test in the form of multiple choice, questionnaires with 5 options they are very agree scored 5, agree scored 4, partial 3, very disagree 2, and disagree 1, and  Observation sheet were students’ activities observation sheet, teacher’s activities observation sheet, and observer’s activities observation sheet. The procedure to analyze data were mean score by using formula Sudijono,2008: 43), and percentage was used according to Purwanto, 2010: 10). The result of data analysis showed that the value of pre-test was 7.1 and post-test was 8.1 so the value of -post-test is higher than the criterion of success (KKM) was 75. It means that the first cycle could achieve the criterion of success. Therefore, the research done only one cycle. It could be concluded that through presentation practice product (Triple P) could develop the students’ skill at second grade student of SMPN 5 Sekotong Barat in Academic Year 2024/2025.

Abstract

This study examines the role of English language proficiency in developing students' soft skills in students enrolled in tourism study programs. Using a descriptive quantitative design with correlational design, the data were collected from 100 students enrolled in tourism courses using a structured questionnaire. The research indicated a moderate positive correlation between English competence and students' soft skills, including communication, teamwork, and intercultural competence. The strongest correlation was between English competence and communication competence, highlighting the facilitating function of English as a medium for enhanced professional communication in the context of tourism. The study opines that learning English language as part of tourism education should not only focus on linguistic ability but also the acquisition of soft skills to make the students more employable. It provides suggestions for teachers, curriculum designers, and future researchers to integrate English education with soft skill training through communicative and experiential learning approaches.

Abstract

implementing value line learning strategy in increasing students’ critical thinking in speaking skill This study is attempted to find out based problem learning as an appropriate strategy to help the students to increase critical thinking in speaking skill using value line learning strategy at second grade in SMA NW Pendem. The methods of the research applied are quantitative and qualitative approach research. The research concert class of second grade in SMA NW Pendem and the sample of the research are 23 students. To analyze the data, the researcher used observation sheet for the English teacher to found out the condition of teaching learning process when the value line was implemented and the observation sheet was used to found out the students improvement ability in learning from the research data found out the result of students score of speaking skill was 80.86(19%) and the students score of written in this research was 80.57(92%), it can be conclude that using value line learning strategy in English foreign language classroom at the second grade students of SMA NW Pendem in academic year 2020/2021.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out Factors Contributing to Students’ Habit in Learning English. The research was descriptive qualitative research. The subject of the study consisted of 25 students taken from five classes at the fifth semester students of FMBM. The instrument that was in the form of questionnaire. The result was analyzed by using Mile and Huberman (1994) theory (data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification). The result found that there were five factors contributing to students’ habit in learning English especially speaking skill at the fifth semester students of FMBM, they were; Performance Conditions, Affective Factors, Listening Ability, Topical Knowledge, and Feedback during Speaking Activities. And the more dominant factor among those factors were; Performance Conditions (20)/90%, Affective Factors (18)/85%, Topical Knowledge (15)/75%, Listening Ability (10)/35%, and Feedback during Speaking Activities (5)/10%.
