Abstract

Abstract Theft of personal data ahead of an election is a criminal act that can damage public trust in the election process and results. The development of digital technology (including electronic election practices) has given new hope for the implementation of elections in the era of cyber society. Election technology provides a new space to support cyber society in virtual political activities of digital democracy. This study seeks to explain cybercrime that continues to operate in many countries (including Indonesia), the weak protection of citizens’ data, and its implications for the integrity of the 2024 simultaneous elections. This study is qualitative with a case study approach based on literature review and finds that the development of digital technology will always followed by an increase in data theft crimes (which are motivated by economic motives), weak protection of citizens’ personal data (a serious digital security problem which should be the responsibility of the state), and implications for election integrity due to data leaks which theoretically hackers use as space to delegitimizing state control over the hegemony of digital election technology.Keyword: Cybercrime, data protection, politik and economic implication, election integrity.

Abstract

Information credibility in the era of digital society as an impact of the abundance of information is no longer a logical and ethical measure in the media sphere. Information truth and news accuracy are now only seen as a matter of public literacy, sharing errors, the negative impact of social media or legal problems; not a matter of fact integrity, news accuracy, and information ethics. This qualitative study with descriptive-interpretive analysis method characterized by virtual ethnography sees the erosion of logos and ethics as the cause of the digital society's easy exposure to the post-truth virus. Logos is the realm of facts, logic, truth, and valid reasoning. In the post-truth era, truth evaluation is postponed if not avoided; and lies have convincingly successfully masqueraded as valid arguments. In the post-truth era, truth and falsehood no longer have clear boundaries. Post-truth rhetoric and political agendas are certainly not only facilitated by social media, but by the reality where lies can wear the mask of truth. The multiplication of media and the spread of information sources in cyberspace are two crucial points that are most responsible for the growth of lies in the post-truth era.Keyword: Digital society, abudance of information, post-truth era, disinformed society

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn media studies there are three approaches to understanding the development of informationtechnology (techno-communication), namely the dystopian, neo-futurist and techno-realistapproaches. These three approaches, until today, are at least considered to represent anacademic sketch in understanding the development of Communication technology. This studyis to see the dynamics and development of the information society, which is considered bysome to be a real threat to the existence of human values, authenticity in social life relations, and even the potential to damage political life and democracy. Through a qualitative researchapproach with a descriptive analysis method, this study tries to conduct a literature study toachieve a complete and objective understanding of the problematic issue. The results of thestudy show that the discourse of the communication technology revolution in the dynamics ofthe information society is still academically problematic, because each school of thought(dystopian, neo-futurist, and techno-realist) has philosophical reasons, academic arguments, and empirical evidence that show relevant and equally strong arguments for each of theirclaims. What needs to be considered is: how to correlate the information technologyrevolution with the readiness (literacy) of the community as users; and how to position thedevelopment of communication technology in line with human needs, as a support for humanlife, not the other way around, making humans more objects of technology.Keyword: technology revolution, techno-communication, network society, dystopian, neofuturist, techno-realist

Abstract

The increasingly materialistic dynamics of urban modernization have triggered the anxiety of most urban Muslims in deciding on the education of their children. In this materialistic era, the orientation of education has also shifted towards pragmatism that gives a small portion of religious content. This reality has made urban Muslims choose Islamic boarding schools, madrasas and modern Islamic schools that give a large portion of religion as an alternative education for their children. This qualitative study (based on Weber's social action theory and Coleman's rational choice theory) with a literature review analysis method tries to unravel the factors behind urban Muslims choosing schools with a strong touch of Islamic teachings as an alternative for education/inheritance of Islamic values for their children. The study concludes that internal factors (inheritance of religious values), external factors (influence of social environment and increasingly religious families), and performance factors (personal motives of Muslim parents) into the three dominant choices/motives.

Abstract

AbstractThis study reviews the use of anthropomorphic techniques in the animation industry. Through qualitative research techniques based on descriptive-interpretive analysis, phenomenological approach, and the theory of anthropomorphism from Wells and Parkinson, this study reveals that the use of anthropomorphized animals in animation series and digital feature films mostly retains the natural characteristics and behavior of animals; only the characteristics and behavior of animal characters are represented/visualized in human form. The products of the animation industry make an important contribution to the reformulation of imagination and the formation of a positive human self-image, as the appeal of the story content is related to actual issues of human life. The use of anthropomorphic principles in the animation industry is not only entertaining, but conveys messages and high moral values and creates an emotional bond between the audience and the characters. In fact, anthropomorphism is a key element that has brought high-value stories and moral messages to audiences in the current era of the entertainment industry. This study encourages animation producers and creative film products to continue creating entertainment industry content that is relevant to the increasingly complex demands of audiences.Keyword: Antropomorphism, self-image formulation, media industry, animated product
