Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) has grown rapidly since the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to grow even after the pandemic is over. In the tourism industry, VR applications are often used in the tourism process to promote destinations and attract tourists to visit. Starting from the quality of VR applications, tourists will intend to use VR applications if these applications have good quality. For this reason, by assessing VR quality and incorporating it into TAM, this study aims to explore the adoption of VR applications in the tourism sector. This study included 400 VR users as participants. Using the partial least square structural equational model (PLS-SEM), a number of hypotheses were assessed. The findings demonstrate that VR quality significantly influences all TAM constructs, including attitude and intention to use. Then, attitude is significantly influenced by perceived usefulness and ease of use. Finally, the intention to use is significantly influenced by attitude. These results indicate that VR quality that is useful and easy to use will determine the adoption of VR applications in tourism. This paper advances both theory and practice by explaining the importance of VR quality and TAM in the adoption of VR applications in tourism.

Abstract

Subscriber-based Video on Demand (SVoD) is currently growing business sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the pandemic effect human mobilization, the Indonesian government strictly regulated visiting the cinema to press Covid-19 outbreak. Consequently, film providers and consumers adopt SVoD as an alternative digital platform. Nevertheless, Indonesian subscriptions are currently lagging behind other countries. In addition, a survey from Coalition Against Piracy in 2019 has discovered that 63 % of Indonesian consumers opt to access illegal streaming services instead of paying subscription fees to video streaming providers. This research empirically examines social influence, perceived risk, hedonic motivation, and utility value to influence behavioral intention to understand what factors influence paying subscriptions. The hypotheses proposed in our research model are tested on a sample of 291 Indonesian subscribers of SVoD platforms. The partial-least square modeling result shows that social influence, hedonic motivation, and utilitarian value can, directly and indirectly, influence behavioral intention. Contrary to research hypotheses, the perceived risk of adopting illegal streaming videos can only indirectly influence behavioral intention. Finally, it is noted that a combination of external and internal consumer motivation will impact subscriptions intention.

Abstract

Abstract

Garut has plenty of attractive tourist destinations to visit, but there are several complaints about tourist dissatisfaction with the government regarding the poor quality of accommodation and safety at the attractions. This led to their reconsideration to not revisiting Garut again and prefer to choose other regencies for vacation. This study examines the importance of destination image dimensions: destination attractiveness, accommodation, as well as safety and security in Garut tourism towards tourist satisfaction to increase revisit intention. Data was obtained through online questionnaires with the Likert scale from 410 respondents who had visited Garut tourism. This study employs SEM-PLS, and the results show that destination attractiveness, accommodation, and safety & security, have a role in building revisit intention. The three elements of destination image have a positively significant role in increasing satisfaction, and tourist satisfaction also positively significantly affects revisit intention. The outcome of this study can be a new insight into literature regarding destination image, tourist satisfaction, and revisit intention, as well as offering a solution for government and tourism managers in Garut in developing tourist destinations. As attractive tourist destinations with a good quality of accommodation, completed by safety and security, will increase the satisfaction and revisit intention.
