Abstract

The fence is one of the leading security in maintaining a building. Conventional fence require operator to open and close it, so it does not effective and efficient. This problem can be solved with automated systems. This research aims to design fance system using finger print sensor  based microcontroller arduino, which is equipped with a locking system that use a solenoid. This experimental research is starts from the design, fabrication and testing. Fences made have specifications 3.2 m x 1.5 m with a total weight is 30.67 kg, path lengthis 2.1 m, diameter sprocket 0.03 m, Voltage DC motor is 12 V  and rotation is 195 rpm. The test results showed a good performance conform with its initial design, where a fence can be opened with a fingerprint has been recorded before. Solenoid can open and lock, likewise with the the photodiode can detect object is on the track. The test results obtained there are differences when opening / closing compared with the results design is 20%, with an average voltage is 12.06  V, current is 1 A, rotation is 135 rpm, and the time it takes 9.9 s, where the torque produced is of 0.64 Nm and maximum load can be driven by a DC motor is at 59.97 kg.

Abstract

The monitoring and water level controlling system is one sample of the simple industrial automation. Monitoring  and controlling SCADA based water level can make it easier to do observation and controlling real time. This research have to design system water level control using ultrasonic sensors and equipped with display interface on laptop. This research is an R&D research that starts from the phase of  problem identification,  desing, and  testing. Test results show good performance in accordance with the desired, where the water pump can be turned on when the water level at the reservoir reaches 10 cm and will be stopped automatically if the water level in tank reaches 70 cm. Monitoring and controlling water level can be done in real time on the laptop interface. So this system can be used as an alternative SCADA learning Media.

Abstract

Heat and hold method is a method with temperature containment techniques in accordance with desired temperature and time functions. This technique aims in adjusting the characteristics of microbial resistance to temperature and saving energy consumption. In this study, a tank with temperature control system was designed for heat and hold the temperature according to the system requirements. Control of the temperature in the heating tank can be done based on the Arduino microcontroller. Arduino reads data from the temperature sensor and activate the heater according to temperature set on the Arduino. Arduino Ethernet Shield acts as Arduino data communication with a database connected to the internet network. The results of this study are in the form of a prototype that shows an IoT-based temperature monitoring tool that can be accessed anywhere via Web-based monitoring system interface. The test was carried out in 2 stages, namely testing by determining target of heater and testing with Holding and Heating with a delay of 10 minutes and 20 minutes. The heating tank temperature control system maintain a temperature of 40oC, 50oC, 60oC for 10 minutes. The temperature holding condition at a certain time is called holding. Henceforth the system temperature is at 70oC.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is a disaster for all of us, Vocational Education is also affected by the Covid-19 pandemic which forces online lectures, one of which is at the Industrial Chemical Technology Polytechnic (PTKI), in the implementation of the exam at PTKI Medan carried out collectively with questions exam in the form of an essay. There have been many studies on online essay exams but the scope of the discussion is for automatic correction or similarity based on text input. In vocational education, especially PTKI Medan, which has a test that is not limited to text input but there are calculations. Another weakness of text input is that the answers can be more easily copied and pasted by students. This research was carried out for 1 year starting from Odd semester 2020 to Even 2020. The method in developing information systems uses the waterfall model with the stages of needs analysis, system design, coding, implementation and the last stage of system maintenance. From the results of the research in the odd semester of 2020, the researchers used a text-based online essay exam model, but many weaknesses were found, one of which was the ease of students in using answers from the internet which were directly entered into the answer column. At the maintenance stage, the researcher updates the system by changing the image-based exam model, so students must write their answers on paper and then upload the answers to the website. The file upload system can overload the server if it is not controlled, one of the techniques used is to compress image files uploaded by students to the system and the maximum size can be compressed up to 78.48% from 1329 Kb to 286 Kb for this type. png data. In addition, to make it easier for lecturers to check answers, use the ezoom.js feature as a means to view answers in the form of images that are useful for zooming in, zooming out, rotating the answer images. Ezoom.js is a javascript that can be installed on php-based websites

Abstract

COVID-19 virus have affected educational activities to be carried out through e-learning. Discord and Google Jamboard offer advantages in delivering synchronous e-learning. The purpose of this research is to implement e-learning of Physics 1 course using Discord integrated with Google Jamboard and Powerpoint. In this research, we used qualitative-descriptive method which conducted in several steps, i.e: (1) Discord installation and Physics 1 Class preparation; (2) Virtual Tablet Server installation and its testing for mobile phone; (3) Learning materials preparation in Powerpoint; (4) Implementation of Physics 1 Class using Discord integrated with Google Jamboard and Powerpoint; (5) Evaluation of the results and (6) Surveying of student’s opinion about e-learning using using Discord integrated with Google Jamboard and Powerpoint. Discord can be used as an alternative e-learning tool because of its practical use as well as more powerful when integrated with Google Jamboard and Powerpoint, especially for mathematical-analytics subject such as Physics. This is supported by the results of a survey in which 34 out of 39 students said they wanted to use Discord and Google Jamboard for other mathematical-analytics subjects.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran mesin listrik akan sangat membantu keefektifan proses pembelajaran pada mata kuliah praktikum mesin listrik. Mesin listrk dasar merupakan salah satu mata kuliah pada Program Studi Teknik Listrik. Media pembelajaran yang dirancang berisi materi mesin listrik. Materi tersebut digambarkan secara nyata dan mudah dipahami oleh peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan dalam perancangan media pembelajaran adalah membuat rangkaian motor AC dan DC dan generator AC dan DC. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk Membuat media pembelajaran mesin listrik dasar, untuk mengetahui prinsip-prinsip mesin listrik dasar, dapat membedakan mesin listrik dasar, mengetahui konstruksi motor dan generator, mengetahui karakteristik transformator. Motor listrik merupakan salah satu peralatan pengubah energi listrik menjadi energi mekanis. Energi mekanis ini dalam penerapannya digunakan sebagai mesin untuk proses produksi seperti mesin angkat, mesin angkut, mesin peniup, mesin penghisap dan mesin penggetar. Hasil pengujian motor DC magnet permanen di peroleh tegangan keluaran 12 V-32 V yang di hasilkan dari proses pemberian magnet terhadap rotor yaitu 29,2-3721 rpm, sedangkan motor AC kapasitor yang memberikan tegangan regulator AC yaitu sebesar 50 V -200 V yang di hasilkan oleh kecepatan putaran rotor 0 – 1380 rpm.

Abstract

Pemenuhan konsumsi pakan ikan menjadi salah satu faktor penting dalam usaha pembudidayaan ikan, hal ini seiring dengan meningkatnya permintaan ikan budi daya di pasaran, teknik penyebaran pakan ikan yang masih manual juga menjadi salah satu masalah bagi pembudi daya, perancangan dan pembuatan alat tugas akhir ini juga bertujuan untuk mengubah pemberian pakan dari manual ke otomatis. Metode yang digunakan dalam perancangan dan pembuatan tugas akhir ini adalah metode eksperimental, dimana prinsip kerja dari alat ini terfokus pada pengaturan penjadwalan pakan ikan dimana RTC sebagai pengatur penjadwalan dan load cell sebagai alat penakaran jumlah pakan ikan, alat tugas akhir ini sendiri bekerja sesuai dengan waktu yang telah diatur dan berat yang dimasukkan lalu disebarkan oleh baling-baling pelontar menggunakan motor DC. Hasil yang didapatkan pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa alat pemberi pakan ini dapat menyebarkan pakan ikan dengan jarak terjauh lebih dari 5 meter dan terdekat 2 meter, dengan jumlah pakan yang tersebar 50-500 gram, menggunakan tegangan aki 12 volt, dengan waktu putaran baling-baling pelontar 6,20 detik. adapun kesimpulan yang didapatkan pada penelitian ini adalah menyebarkan pakan ikan pada kolam ikan dengan menggunakan motor DC, penjadwalan pemberian pakan ikan secara otomatis menggunakan RTC, menggunakan load cell sebagai alat penakaran pakan, dan alat pakan ikan ini dapat di kontrol agar berada di tengah kolam menggunakan bluetooth.

Abstract

Digital technology continues to develop until now such as in Industry 4.0. In the industry, many still use conventional systems such as Induction Motor Starters using the Direct on Line (DOL) System. This study aims to build a system to be able to upgrade conventional systems to digital-based systems. The method used is testing by making a design and then comparing the data obtained to see the response time. From the results of the study, the system can work well. Both testing on conventional systems and online systems. In conventional systems, the system works faster with an average response time of less than 1 second, while with an online system, the response depends on the internet network used so that an average of 1.6 seconds is obtained. In addition, the results of testing using internet of things software show that the system is integrated between conventional systems and digital systems where when the induction motor is ON, a current reading of around 60A will be obtained on the IoT software display and when the motor is OFF, the current reading will drop to close to 0 Ampere.
