Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat implikasi petisi online Change.org sebagai media baru dalam mengadvokasi kebijakan publik RKUHP (Rancangan Kitab Undang-undang Hukum Pidana) dan UU MD3 (Undang-undang MPR, DPR, DPRD, dan DPD) dengan menggunakan kerangka konsep ultimate dan intermediate effectiveness oleh Martin dan Kracher. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif ekplanatif. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah platform petisi online Change.org. Objek penelitian yang digunakan adalah implikasi platform petisi online Change.org terhadap kebijakan public UU MD3 dan RKUHP. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik dokumentasi studi pustaka dan observasi. Analisis data menggunakan metode alir meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa platform petisi online Change.org yang didukung dengan aktivitas advokasi lain seperti advokasi media, kampanye online dan offline, lobi, pengorganisasian, dan event dinilai berimplikasi secara intermediate dalam mengadvokasi kebijakan publik dan akan berimplikasi secara ultimate jika mendapat respon yang positif dari pembuat kebijakan. Keberhasilan secara intermediate menjadi faktor yang mendukung dan mentukan keberhasilan secara ultimate. Implication Of Online Petition Platform Change.Org Towards Policy RKUHP And UU MD3This study aims to look at the implications of Change.org's online petition as a new media in advocating for the public policy of the RKUHP (Draft Criminal Code) and MD3 Law (MPR, DPR, DPRD and DPD laws) using the ultimate and intermediate conceptual framework. effectiveness by Martin and Kracher. This study uses an explanative qualitative approach. The research subject in this study was the Change.org online petition platform. The object of research used is the implications of Change.org's online petition platform for the public policy of the MD3 Law and the RKUHP. Data collection was carried out using literature study documentation and observation techniques. Data analysis using flow methods including data reduction, data presentation, and interesting. The results showed that Change.org's online petition platform supported by other advocacy activities supported by advocacy media, online and offline campaigns, lobbying, organizing, and events have intermediary implications in advocating for public policy and will have the ultimate implication of getting a positive response from policy maker. Success is a factor that supports and determines the ultimate.

Abstract

 ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berjudul “Analisis Framing Pemberitaan Kasus Pemerkosaan oleh Reynhard Sinaga di Media Online Kompas dan The Guardian”.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pembingkaian berita kasus Reynhard Sinaga di media online Kompas dan The Guardian pada tanggal 6 dan 7 Januari 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis framing Robert N. Entman yang mengemukakan perangkat framing yang terdiri dari empat elemen yaitu define problems, diagnose cause, make moral judgement, dan treatment recommendation. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan mengumpulkan berita mengenai kasus pemerkosaan oleh Reynhard Sinaga yang dimuat pada portal berita Kompas.com dan Theguardian.com. Fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah pemberitaan pada media online Kompas.com dan Theguardian.com terkait kasus Reynhard Sinaga pada tanggal 6 dan 7 Januari 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Framing, dimana teori ini menjelaskan framing adalah pendekatan untuk mengetahui bagaimana perspektif atau cara pandang yang digunakan oleh wartawan ketika menseleksi isu dan menulis berita. Hasil penelitian menggunakan framing model Robert N. Entman menggambarkan bahwa pembingkaian berita yang disajikan oleh media online Kompas.com dan Theguardian.com mengedepankan objektivitas dalam memberitakan kasus pemerkosaan Reynhard Sinaga namun belum berada di jalur yang sesuai dengan kode etik jurnalistik yang berlaku di negara masing-masing namun. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peneliti menilai stigma masyarakat terhadap cara media Indonesia yang menampilkan berita terkait kasus Reynhard belum sebagus media Inggris tidak terbuktikan.Kata Kunci: Framing, Kasus Pemerkosaan Reynhard Sinaga, Media Online, Kompas.com, Theguardian.com REYNHARD CASE FRAMING ANALYSIS IN THE COMPASS AND THE GUARDIAN ONLINE MEDIAABSTRAC The research entitled "Analysis of Rape Case Framing by Reynhard Sinaga in Online Media Kompas and The Guardian". This study aims to see the framing of the news of the Reynhard Sinaga case in online media Kompas and The Guardian on January 6 and 7 2020. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with Robert N. Entman's framing analysis, which suggests a framing device consisting of four elements, namely defining the problem. , diagnose causes, make moral judgments, and recommend treatment. The data technique used in this study was to collect news about the rape case by Reynhard Sinaga which was published on the news portals Kompas.com and Theguardian.com. The focus in this research is the news on online media Kompas.com and Theguardian.com related to the Reynhard Sinaga case on January 6 and 7 2020. This research uses the Framing theory, where this theory explains framing is an approach to see how the perspective or point of view is used. by journalists when selecting issues and writing news. The results of the study using the Robert N. Entman framing model illustrated that the news framing presented by the online media Kompas.com and Theguardian.com prioritizes objectivity in reporting the case of Reynhard Sinaga's rape but has not been on track in accordance with the journalistic code of ethics applicable in their respective countries. but respectively. Based on the results of the study, the researcher assessed that the public's stigma against the way the Indonesian media presented news related to the Reynhard case was not as good as the British media was not proven.Keywords: Framing, Reynhard Sinaga Rape Case, Online Media, Kompas.com, Theguardian.com

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Perilaku Komunikasi Pengguna Media Sosial Tantan Dalam Menjalin Relasi Pertemanan (Studi Pada Mahasiswa Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh).” Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui interaksi pengguna media sosial tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan, mengetahui tindakan pengguna media sosial tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan, mengetahui hubungan pengguna media sosial tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan wawancara terstruktur dalam pengumpulan data. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori mediamorfosis. Dalam pemilihan informan penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling, sedangkan untuk menganalisis data, menggunakan model analisis data Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa perilaku komunikasi pengguna media sosial Tantan dalam menjalin relasi pertemanan yaitu interaksi informan melakukan chatingan dengan pengguna lain, informan memfokuskan chatingan dengan banyak pengguna agar mendapat lebih banyak teman. Tindakan informan dalam media sosial Tantan yaitu informan hanya membagikan foto, like foto dan melihat video yang dibagikan pengguna lain.Hubungan informan dalam media sosial Tantan pada akhirnya hubungan yang terjalin antara informan dan lawan bicaranya merupakan hubungan pertemanan biasa, tidak berlanjut ke tahap perjodohan. This study entitled "The Communication Behavior of Tantan MediaSocial Users in Establishing Friendship (A Case Study on the Students of Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh).” This study aims to understand the interaction, action, and the relationship of the users in developing friendship. This study used qualitative descriptive method with a structured interview for the data collection. The theory used in this research is the mediamorphosis theory. The interviewees were chosen using purposive sampling method, and the data were analyzed using model data analysis Miles and Huberman. The research results obtained that communication behavior of the users in developing friendship was through the interviewees interaction with other users; the interviewees focus on chatting with many users in order to get more friends. The interviewees’ actionson Tantan social media were sharing pictures, giving “like” for other pictures and watching videos shared by other Tantan users. The interviewees’ relationship in Tantan social media with the chatting partners were only developed until friendship stage, and did not continue to be lovers

Abstract

This study entitled "Public Relations Of Bendahara Sector Police's Strategies In Creating A Positive Image In The Eyes Of The Public After The Death Of The Alleged Drug Abuse Perpetrator Case" with the aim of finding out the strategies carried out by the Bendahara Sector Police's Public Relations in creating a positive image in the public after the death of the alleged perpetrator of Narcotics abuse. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique in this study was done by using interviews with the head of Public Relations of the Bendahara Sector Police and the General Section Chief Public Relation of Bendahara Sector Police. The determination of informant was chosen using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that there were seven PR strategies used by the Public Relations of the Bendahara Sector Police, namely visiting victims' families regularly, approaching community leaders, counseling in turns to villages, saweusikula (visiting schools) activities, approaching Aceh Tamiang news journalists, uploading activities documentation to social media, and providing donations and assistance to local communities in need. There were several obstacles for the Public Relations of the Bendahara SectorPolice in carrying out the strategies that had been designed, namely the lack of facilities and the lack of personnel in charge of the Public Relations sector or department.

Abstract

This research attempted to describe the public's perception toward political communication ofcertain gender in winning the mayoral election of Banda Aceh in 2017 and to find outpeople's perceptions on whether gender is able to influence the candidacy in winning themayoral election of Banda Aceh in 2017. This research was conducted by using qualitativemethod and took place in Banda Aceh. The process of retrieving data and information of theresearch is obtained from the review of literature. This research employed structured-interview on expert informants from the Independent Election Commission, the Head ofIslamic Shari'a Office of Banda Aceh and the voting community (male and female) selectedby using purposive sampling. The theory used in this research is the theory of socialcognition, a learning theory explaining the patterns of behavior. This theory was developedby Albert Bandura since 1960 and emphasized the tendency to imitate or emulate whatpeople see through the media or other people. There are interrelationships betweenindividuals, environment and behavior. In this case, the political communication carried outby the two mayor candidates of Banda Aceh stemmed a new problem since one of thecandidates was female. As the result, this issue triggered a controversy in the community interms of contradicting the teachings of Islamic Shari'a among candidates and within thecommunity regarding gender. In terms of political participation, women have been givenspecial proportion in both management of political parties and legislative candidacy (30%).Meanwhile, this arrangement is still not well-considered because there are no strict sanctionsfor political parties. In respect of sociological aspects, there are still many serious problems, starting from women's interest which is still low in the political sphere as well as theproblems of gender bias experienced by women. Furthermore, the urgency of women'srepresentation in the political sphere is hampered due to negative stereotypes towards womenand the level of patriarchal knowledge which still sticks on people's lives.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana tahapan manajemen krisis dilakukan oleh hotel Kyriad Muraya Aceh pada masa pandemi Covid-19 serta bagaimana komunikasi krisis yang mereka lakukan dalam mengatasi krisis akibat pandemi Covid-19. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah Situasional Communication Crisis Theory menurut W. Timothy Coombs berkaitan dengan strategi pesan komunikasi krisis. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan konsep tahapan Krisis menurut Steven Fink yang terbagi atas tahap prodromal, tahap akut, tahap kronik dan tahap resolusi, dan juga menggunakan konsep langkah mengelola krisis menurut Rhenald Kasali. Jenis penelitian ini kualitatif studi kasus dengan metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi sebagai Teknik pengumpulan data. Wawancara yang dilakukan berupa wawancara semi terstruktur dan pemilihan informan menggunakan metode purposive sampling yaitu berdasarkan karakteristik tertentu. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Hotel Kyriad Muraya melewati tahap prodromal namun ketika memasuki tahap akut, kronik hingga resolusi manajemen hotel melakukan berbagai  tindakan penanganan krisis, yaitu dengan melakukan analisis krisis, pilihan strategi yaitu strategi adaptif berupa kompromi, mengubah kebijakan, modifikasi operasional, dan meluruskan citra dan juga melakukan pengendalian krisis dalam langkah mengelola krisis. Kyriad Muraya becomes a role model in terms of implementing the 4M health protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic in Aceh. This study aims to determine how the Kyriad Muraya Aceh hotel carried out the stages of crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic. The theory used in this research is Situational Communication Crisis Theory by W. Timothy Coombs. This study employed the concept of crisis stages by Steven Fink, consisting of the prodromal stage, acute stage, chronic stage, and resolution stage, and also used the concept of crisis management steps by Rhenald Kasali. This study used a qualitative approach, and data were collected using semi-structured interviews of five informants selected using a purposive sampling technique, as well as documentation and observation. The results of this study showed that the Kyriad Muraya Hotel passed through the prodromal stage. However, when it entered the acute, chronic, and resolution stages, the hotel management performed various crisis handling actions, including crisis analysis and the choice of strategy. The strategies included an adaptive strategy in the form of negotiation, changing policies, operational modifications, image improvement, and carrying out crisis control.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The cancel culture movement has become popular since the hashtags #MeToo and #BlackLivesMatter were buzzing on Twitter about justice for victims of sexual harassment and human rights against the black race in the United States. In this study, the researcher took a case study on the refusal of Saiful Jamil to return to appear on television as part of the cancel culture phenomenon that occurred in Indonesia. The cancel culture aimed at Saiful Jamil is a consequence he has to get because of the excessive glorification of himself after being released from prison. This study aims to find a relationship that cancel culture is an effort to control social as a form of social control on social media. The subject of this research is public tweets related to the rejection of Saiful Jamil. In this study, the object of research is the cancel culture that occurred to Saiful Jamil. The conclusion in this study is that the cancel culture carried out by the community against Saiful Jamil is a form of social control that is carried out through education, reprimand, and sanctions as a consequence of the deviations he commits. Abstract

This research is titled “Hedonic Lifestyle as Identity of Banda Aceh’s Teenage Celebgrams (An Explanative Study the Impact of Accessing Celebgram’s Instagram Accounts). This research aims to determine the cause of Banda Aceh’s teenage celebgrams to refer the hedonic lifestyle as an identity and explain the process of the hedonic lifestyle became the identity of Banda Aceh teenage celebgrams. This research used a qualitative explanative method. The data collection techniques used in this research are semi-structural interview, non participant observation and documentation. This research focus on hedonic lifestyle as identity of Banda Aceh’s teenage celebgrams in adolescence according to the Department of Health starting from 17 to 25 years old. This research used Social Learning theory, that explains Banda Aceh’s teenage celebgrams learns and observes on other celebgrams hedonic lifestyle then made it as a role model then imitate it. The results of this research shows that one of the causes Banda Aceh’s teenage celebgrams lives hedonic lifestyle is because they had hedonic role models too. The reward in the form of self-satisfaction and pleasure as well as a positive response from the virtual environment, makes a teenage celebgrams in Banda Aceh committed to living a hedonic lifestyle. The hedonist lifestyle of a Banda Aceh teenager as an identity is seen through activities, interests and opinions. In this research, the dominant source in influencing the creation of identity of the Banda Aceh’s teenage celebgrams is peers and idol figures (role model).

Abstract

The Aceh Truth and Reconciliation Commission (KKR) is responsible for uncovering the truth about past human rights violations during the 2003 conflict. This study investigates the communication strategy used by KKR in taking statements from victims. Guided by Henry Fayols classical management theory and Anwar Arifins four-stage communication strategy model, this qualitative research collected data through interviews and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, with criteria including: involvement in the statement-taking team, at least one year of experience handling victim testimonies, and active membership in the 20222027 KKR period. The KKRs strategy includes socialization, pre-conditions, statement-taking, and recommendations. Findings indicate that while KKR has structured efforts in place, improvements are needed. Specifically, the planning stage lacks a personal approach that builds trust with victims, and coordination should involve communication experts to develop more persuasive messages. KKR also relies heavily on conventional media, which limits its outreach. Optimizing digital media and refining engagement methods would strengthen its communication effectiveness in addressing victims' needs.Komisi Kebenaran dan Rekonsiliasi (KKR) Aceh memiliki tanggung jawab dalam mengungkap kebenaran atas pelanggaran HAM yang terjadi selama konflik tahun 2003. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh KKR Aceh dalam proses pengambilan pernyataan dari korban pelanggaran HAM. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori manajemen klasik Henry Fayol dan model strategi komunikasi empat tahap dari Anwar Arifin. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan dokumentasi. Informan dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling, dengan kriteria: terlibat dalam tim pengambilan pernyataan, memiliki pengalaman minimal satu tahun dalam proses tersebut, dan merupakan anggota KKR periode 20222027. Strategi komunikasi KKR meliputi tahapan sosialisasi, pra-kondisi, pengambilan pernyataan, dan rekomendasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun KKR telah memiliki pola komunikasi yang terstruktur, masih terdapat kekurangan, terutama pada tahap perencanaan yang belum mengutamakan pendekatan personal terhadap korban. Pada tahap koordinasi, keterlibatan ahli komunikasi diperlukan untuk menyusun pesan yang lebih persuasif. Selain itu, penggunaan media masih bersifat konvensional dan perlu dioptimalkan untuk menjangkau korban secara lebih luas. Dengan perbaikan strategi ini, efektivitas komunikasi KKR dalam memenuhi hak korban diharapkan dapat meningkat.

Abstract

Aceh, a province recognized for its high disaster risk potential, is frequently subjected to various natural calamities. The inhabitants of this region often face anxiety, uncertainty, and an overload of information during such events, necessitating a selective approach to information acquisition. This study explores this phenomenon, specifically the selective acquisition of health information amid disaster scenarios. The focus is on understanding how individuals prioritize information that they perceive as relevant and valuable, while disregarding what is deemed unimportant or unreliable. Addressing a notable gap in existing literature on health communication during disasters, this research emphasizes its critical role in enhancing disaster preparedness. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving 30 participants across three hazard-prone areas in Aceh: Central Aceh (landslides), North Aceh (floods), and West Aceh (earthquakes). Findings reveal that participants typically engage in passive information seeking, selectively assimilating health information that conforms to their pre-established subjective beliefs, values, and emotional states from trusted sources. The study offers insights into how individuals manage health information in crisis situations and suggests that stakeholders in disaster management devise targeted communication strategies to effectively disseminate vital health information during disasters.
