Abstract

This research aims to identify types of media used by the Acehnese people in seeking information about COVID-19, and people’s perceptions and responses to the information that increases their likelihood of the risk of the pandemic. This study employs a quantitative approach, in which an online survey distributed through social media. All 324 respondents gave their consent to participate in filling out the research questionnaire. The study found that Acehnese people prefer online media and television (TV) to receive information about COVID-19, especially when people can access the information online (streaming). The finding indicates that people tend to trust information obtained through the media more than direct information (face to face) conveyed by the government. Regarding the public responses, this study found that most respondents argue the lack of government action in disseminating information about COVID-19.  It is believed that this condition is likely to bring up false information (hoax) from untrustworthy information sources. This response has an impact on the level of public trust towards the government as the main source of information in handling the pandemic. Respondents claim that the local government has a slow response in providing information about people who are infected by the virus, including insufficient information on the intervention of prevention and treatment carried out to stop the spread of the virus.

Abstract

Indonesia’s tobacco control law enforcement remains weak and has not regulated the total ban on tobacco advertisement, promotion, and sponsorship bans (TAPS). Meanwhile, mediated anti-smoking messages have been significantly found to reduce smoking prevalence in many countries, helping people to stop smoking and preventing new smokers. Unfortunately, the anti-smoking Public Service Advertisements (PSAs) in Indonesia is unable to compete with the extensive and creative cigarette advertising or pro-smoking messages in many media platforms. Messages encouraging people to stop smoking and delivering the hazardous effects of smoking remain spotty in terms of numbers and visibility, leaving people with limited information about the adverse effects of smoking. There has been little research literature looking at how people perceived the effectiveness of anti-smoking messages. This study aims to identify and assess the anti-smoking PSAs by #suaratanparokok. A content analysis is carried out to examine the perceived effectiveness of the #suaratanparokok PSAs on YouTube. The involvement of YouTube influencers and optimizing social media platforms are important in delivering the PSAs. This study provides insights and recommendations to warn people about the danger of smoking through effective anti-smoking messages.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan aspek penting dalam pembangunankarena dapat mendidik sumberdaya manusia berkualitas yang dapat berkontribusi terhadap perkembangan dan kemajuan daerah.Sebagai daerah dengan otonomi khusus, Aceh memiliki keleluasaan dalam mengatur pemerintahan daerahnya berdasarkan Undang-Undang Pemerintahan Aceh (UUPA), termasuk di dalamnya bidang pendidikan. Ketentuan tentang penyelenggaraan pendidikan di Aceh termaktub dalam Pasal 6 Qanun Aceh Nomor 5 Tahun 2008 tentang Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan, dan Undang-Undang Pemerintah Aceh (UUPA) Nomor 11 Tahun. Berdasarkan amanat tersebut, disusunlah Sistem Pendidikan Berbasis Nilai Islami (SPBNI) dalam Rencana Strategis (Renstra) Pendidikan Aceh sebagai salah satu pilar dari empat pilar Sistem Pendidikan di Aceh.Kondisi ini berbeda dengan Sistem Pendidikan Nasional yang hanya memiliki tiga pilar pendidikan, meliputi aksesibilitas, peningkatan mutu dan daya saing, serta peningkatan tata kelola, akuntabilitas dan citra publik. Berbeda dengan proses perumusan indikator ketiga pilar pendidikan lainnya, penyusun Renstra Pendidikan Aceh mengalami kesulitan dalan menentukan indikator keberhasilan SPBNI yang dituntut dalam penyusunan Laporan Akuntabilitas Kinerja Instansi Pemerintah (LAKIP). Indikator yang berhasil dirumuskan selama ini hanya berupa pengukuran SPBNI yang bersifat simbolik, misalnya rasio mushalla per sekolah, atau rasio buku pelajaran Agama Islam dengan buku mata pelajaran lainnya.Hal ini telah memunculkan kritikan dari masyarakat terhadap kinerja pemerintah daerah, khususnya penyelenggara pendidikan yang dianggap belum berhasil merumuskan indikator yang mencerminkan tujuan SPBNI, khususnya indikator-indikator yang mengukur nilai-nilai substantif yang dapat tercermin dalam perilaku peserta didik. Melalui metode penelitian campuran (mixed method), yaitu kuantitatif (survei) dan kualitatif (FGD dan interview), diperoleh hasil bahwa stakeholder pendidikan memandang SPBNI lebih tepat dijadikan sebagai fondasi bagi Sistem Pendidikan di Aceh, dan bukan sebagai pilar.Masih belum jelas dan konkretnya konsep SPBNI yang dipahami baik oleh stakeholder pendidikan dan pelaksana pendidikan, menjadikan implementasi SPBNI di lapangan berjalan tidak maksimal.Mayoritas responden mengakui bahwa penerapan SPBNI masih sebatas mengukur simbol-simbol keagamaan Islam, bukan mengukur nilai-nilai, khususnya akhlakul karimah peserta didik. Hal ini antara lain disebabkan oleh minimnya sosialisasi, dan proses pengrekrutan tenaga pendidik yang tidak tepat, disamping masih lemahnya peran keluarga dan masyarakat yang seharusnya bersinergi dengan pihak sekolah dalam penerapan SPBNI

Abstract

he lack of media information about Schizophrenia in Aceh explains caregivers’ limited understanding of mental disorders. Research on patient discharge systems found that communication media about Schizophrenia were still limited, mostly in the form of posters, flyers, or booklets. There was no specific information about the mental illness needed by the family or caregivers after the patient's discharged from the hospital. This study aims to develop and test a communication medium that can support the recovery process of post-discharge patients from the Mental Health Hospital or Rumah Sakit Jiwa (RSJ) in Aceh. This action research was carried out through focus group discussions (FGDs), interviews, and surveys to health practitioners (mental health nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, community leaders) and family or caregivers of Patients with Schizophrenia (PWS). The study found that messages about Schizophrenia which are developed through a community-based approach are likely to be better accepted than the expert-led information.

Abstract

Program Kampung Iklim (Proklim) is a national mitigation and adaptation program to climate change in Indonesia. Like other areas across the country, several districts in Aceh Province are designated Climate Village Program (Proklim). However, as an innovative government-led initiative, the program's efficacy in Aceh has not been well-documented. This study explores the potential challenges and opportunities of Proklim implementation in Aceh. Even though Proklim is a significant initiative for adapting to the impact of climate change, poor community involvement in the planning and implementation stages led to the program's unsustainability. Lack of public participation correlates with their limited understanding of the program's benefits. Moreover, people's poor understanding is influenced by how the program is communicated. Drawing from previous research on public participation in implementing Proklim in three areas in Aceh Besar districts, this study analyzes the internal and external factors identified as strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the climate change programs. The study argues that exploring and communicating the social capitals of local communities allows for more public involvement and participation in developing sustainable Proklim in the area.

Abstract

Pengembangan wirausaha limbah rumah tangga non-organik oleh kelompok Ibu-Ibu dan Remaja Putri di Gampong Alue Deah Teungoh (ADT) Kecamatan Meuraxa menjadi salah satu upaya peningkatan perekonomian masyarakat desa sekaligus solusi pengelolaan lingkungan berbasis masyarakat. Gampong Alue Deah Teungoh (ADT) merupakan salah satu desa binaan untuk program mengatasi dampak perubahan iklim atau Program Kampung Iklim (Proklim). Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini  adalah membantu kelompok perempuan di desa ADT untuk menghasilkan produk kerajinan dari limbah non-organik yang bernilai kreatif dan ekonomi, dan mendukung penerapan Proklim sebagai salah satu program Pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh dalam mengurangi produksi limbah rumah tangga di kota Banda Aceh khususnya di masa  pandemi Covid-19. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan memberikan pembekalan pemanfaatan dan pengelolaan limbah rumah tangga non-organik yang bernilai kreatif dan ekonomi, serta memberikan pengetahuan manajemen usaha dan ketrampilan dasar pemasaran efektif.

Abstract

The number of smokers among women in Indonesia is increasing every year, even though smokers are predominantly male. In order to educate the public about the negative impacts of tobacco consumption, the government has produced anti-smoking Public Service Advertisements (PSAs) aired on television. The information gap about smoking hazards is due to lack of anti-smoking messages which is unable to compete with the extensive and creative pro-smoking messages in many media platforms. The way people use media for information-seeking, such as messages about smoking, dictates how they look for the messages and helps to understand how they encounter messages the most. By interviewing 39 women in Banda Aceh and Jakarta, this study presents women’s opinion about television and the media preference for searching and gaining information about smoking. The findings show that participants of the study prefer to obtain information about smoking through the media—online social media than through television, such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Line, WhatsApp, and non-media like friends and their doctor’s advice. Given the substantial cost of television health campaigns, the study findings can provide input on alternative media in communicating about the harms of smoking.

Abstract

Gizi buruk (malnutrisi) dan pendek badan anak (stunting) masih merupakan permasalahan kesehatan di Indonesia. ‘Aisyiyah sebagai salah satu organisasi kemasyarakatan melalui program kesehatannya telah mendampingi pemerintah menjalankan program-program guna menurunkan angka malnutrisi dan stunting di Indonesia. Salah satunya adalah melalui program Rumah Gizi di beberapa kabupaten di tanah air. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif, dengan metode wawancara mendalam dan analisa dokumen, studi ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dan menganalisis implementasi program Rumah Gizi ‘Aisyiyah di tiga daerah yaitu Kabupaten Cianjur, Sambas, dan Mamuju. Melalui analisis kritis-budaya, yakni modernitas refleksif dalam pendekatan komunikasi kesehatan, hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa keberhasilan penerapan program kampanye dan advokasi Rumah Gizi untuk menurunkan angka malnutrisi dan stunting di wilayah studi melibatkan pendekatan budaya dan agama yang terintegrasi disamping penguatan dan pemberdayaan perempuan. Malnutrition and stunting remain a health problem in Indonesia. ‘Aisyiyah as one of the civil society organizations through its health program has assisted the government to reduce the number of malnutrition and stunting cases in Indonesia. One of them is through the Rumah Gizi program run in several districts in the country. Through a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, this study aims to explain and analyse the implementation of the Rumah Gizi in three regions, namely Cianjur, Sambas, and Mamuju districts. Using a cultural approach—reflexive modernity in health communication, the findings of this study indicate that the success of Rumah Gizi campaign and advocacy program to reduce malnutrition and stunting requires an integrated cultural and religious approach as well as strengthening and empowering women.

Abstract

Fitur Instagram Story banyak digunakan oleh pengguna Instagram sebagai media pengungkapan diri kepada pengikutnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengungkapan diri selebgram melalui Instagram Story yang dianalisis berdasarkan Teori Jendela Johari. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui wawancara dan pengamatan pengungkapan diri dengan memaparkan dan menjelaskan kegiatan atau interaksi selebgram Aceh, @Khalidamakmoer dan @Ririnputrianjani dengan pengikutnya di Instagram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengungkapan diri selebgram dalam penelitian ini termasuk dalam kategori dua Jendela Johari, yaitu daerah terbuka dan daerah tersembunyi. Kedua selebgram melalui Instagram Story membagikan informasi terkait diri dan kegiatan sehari-hari mereka, hobi, pengalaman, pendidikan, pekerjaan, impian, perasaan, dan hal-hal yang disukai. Dampak positif yang dirasakan dari pengungkapan diri tersebut berupa pembentukan hubungan baru, peningkatan kualitas pertemanan, dan menjadi sumber penghasilan para selebgram melalui unggahan mereka di Instagram Story. Dampak negatif yang dirasakan dari pengungkapan diri tersebut adalah mendapatkan perlakuan yang kurang baik seperti komentar kebencian, hingga menjadi korban kejahatan pada media sosial di mana foto dan video yang mereka unggah dimanfaatkan oleh orang yang tidak bertanggung jawab untuk menipu orang lain. The feature of Instagram Story has been used widely by Instagram users as a medium of selfdisclosure to their followers. This study aims to explore self-disclosure of celebgrams through Instagram Story, analyzed based on the Johari Window Model. The research data was obtained through interviews and observations of Aceh celebgrams, @Khalidamakmoer and @Ririnputrianjani by describing and explaining their posts or interactions with their followers. The results showed that celebgram's self-disclosure in this study was included in the two Johari Window categories, namely open areas and hidden areas. Both celebgrams, through Instagram Stories, shared information regarding themselves and their daily activities, hobbies, experiences, education, work, dreams, feelings, and things they like. The positive impacts of the self-disclosure were forming new relationships, improving the quality of friendship, and becoming a source of income for celebgrams through their posts on Instagram Stories. Meanwhile, the negative impacts of self-disclosure were getting unfavourable experiences, such as hate comments, and becoming victims of crime on social media when irresponsible people use the photos and videos they uploaded to deceive others.

Abstract
