Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the effect of different stocking density and different litter materials on the production performance of native chicken. Material of yhis study was 324-day old chick (DOC) native chickens, reared for 12 weeks. The DOC were randomly devided into 9 treatment groups include a combination of 3 stocking density (8, 12 and 16 bird/m2) and 3 litter materials (rice hulls, wood shavings and corncobs) in 3 replication. A completely randomized factorial design was an applied in the study then followed by Duncan's multiple range tests. The parameters observed were feed consumption (g/bird/12 weeks), body weight gain (g/bird), feed conversion ratio, and mortality (%). The results showed that feed consumption had affected by stocking density (p<0.05), but it had not affected by litter materials type. Feed consumption at densities of 8, 12 and 16 bird/m2 was 3890; 4020 and 4061 g/bird respectively. The highest feed consumption was obtained at a density of 16 bird/m2. Weight gain, feed conversion and mortality had not affected by stocking density and litter material. It can concluded that the body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio and mortality is same for stocking density 8,12 and 16 bird/m2 an d same for litter type of rice hulls, wood shaving and corncob.

Abstract

Stocking density gives a significant role in poultry farming, with increasing the number of birds per unit space potentially leading to higher profits. The wider the pen will increase the need litter for pen, rice hulls are commonly used as litter. Limited supplies, higher costs, and unavailability of suitable materials have encouraged the search for alternative litter materials. This study aimed to identify ideal stocking density and other litter material sources on native chickens. The material of this study was 324-day old chick (DOC) native chickens, reared for 10 weeks. The DOC was randomly divided into 9 treatment groups including a combination of 3 stocking densities (8, 12, and 16 chick/m2) and 3 litter materials (rice hulls, wood shavings, and corncobs) in 3 replication. Abstract

Bahan litter yang umum digunakan di peternakan unggas adalah sekam padi, karena ketersedian dan harga perlu dipertimbangkan bahan litter alternatif dengan tetap memperhatikan kualitas litter dan kinerja produksi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh bahan litter berbeda terhadap performa produksi dan kualitas litter ayam lokal. Materi yang digunakan adalah DOC ayam KUB sebanyak 315 ekor. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan acak lengkap 3 perlakuan dan 7 ulangan yaitu: T1 (litter sekam padi); T2 (litter tongkol jagung giling); dan T3 (litter serutan kayu). Setiap petak perlakuan berisi 15 ekor ayam, variable yang diamati adalah pertambahan bobot badan, bobot akhir, konversi pakan, suhu litter, kadar air litter, ph litter dan amonia. Perlakuan bahan litter memberikan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) pada pH, kadar air, dan amonia litter, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap PBB, FCR, bobot akhir, dan mortalitas. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh bahwa bahan litter tongkol jagung giling dan serutan kayu dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti litter sekam padi.

Abstract

Biaya pakan suatu usaha peternakan mencapai 70 hingga 80 persen dari biaya operasional usaha.  Dengan dukungan bahan pakan lokal, diharapkan usaha perbibitan ayam kampung dapat berkembang di Gorontalo. Tujuan kajian: menganalisis pendapatan usahatani ayam kampung dengan mengoptimalkan penggunaan bahan pakan lokal dalam pembibitan ayam kampung. Kajian dilaksanakan di Gorontalo bekerjasama dengan stakeholder dan kelompok ternak ayam, Februari hingga Desember 2015. Data meliputi produksi telur, bobot telur, jumlah telur yang ditetaskan, fertilitas, daya tetas, dan bobot tetas. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil: nilai HDP dan HHP mengalami kenaikan mulai dari produksi bulan ke-2 sampai ke-3. Fertilitas meningkat seiring umur bulan produksi, mengikuti tingkat kedewasaan ternak atau umur fisiologis ternak. Semakin meningkat umur ayam maka fertilitas akan meningkat sampai batas puncak produktivitas dan menurun lagi. Daya tetas telur setiap bulan meningkat seiring meningkatnya fertilitas telur.  Nutrisi pakan yang cukup meningkatkan nilai HDP, HHP, fertilitas, dan daya tetas. Usahatani layak dikembangkan
