Abstract

Kajian beban emisi telah dilaksanakan di lingkungan Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) dalam kurun waktu satu hari. Perhitungan beban emisi CO, NOx, PM10, SO2, HC dihitung menggunakan metode TIER 2, yaitu dengan  cara menghitung perjalanan rerata kendaraan, atau Vehicle Kilometer Traveled (VKT) dan kemudian dikalikan dengan faktor emisi masing-masing jenis pencemar untuk tiap jenis kendaraan berbeda. Sedangkan untuk pencemar CO2 menggunakan metode perhitungan jumlah konsumsi bahan bakar dikalikan dengan faktor emisi.  Setelah perhitungan didapatkan bahwa jenis kendaraan yang mendominasi adalah sepeda motor. Emisi terbesar terjadi pada pukul 09.30-10.30 yaitu pada jam peralihan perkuliahan sesi 1 dan sesi 2, yang dapat diidentifikasi sebagai jam sibuk. Emisi pencemar terbesar adalah CO2 yaitu sebesar 248.31 Kg/hari diikuti oleh CO sebesar 41.53 Kg/hari. Pencemar udara yang paling sedikit diemisikan adalah SO2 yaitu hanya sebesar 0.028 Kg/hari. Pencemar lainnya yaitu NOx sebesar 0.986 Kg/hari dan PM10 sebesar 0.656 Kg/hari. Dominasi emisi sepeda motor terlihat jelas pada pencemar CO, HC dan CO2, sedangkan pada pencemar lainnya, mobil bensin maupun solar juga berperan dalam mengemisikan pencemar tersebut.

Abstract

Solid waste management problems have become a common problem in Indonesia. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics' Environmental Care Behavior Indicator in 2017, it shows that 58.32% of Indonesians do not sort their waste. Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) is a campus that carries the concept of eco-campus. Waste segregation has been programmed, but in reality in the field, waste segregation is not running. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of knowing the preferences and participation of ITK academic community in waste segregation at ITK. The survey results showed that out of 380 respondents, although 90% had seen posters about waste segregation at ITK, only 57.6% stated that they had done waste segregation at ITK, which was mostly based on the factor of facilitating management both by ITK and at the landfill. For the other 44.2% of respondents who do not or only sometimes do waste segregation, it was found that the biggest factor that made them do so was based on the desire to segregate at the beginning, but when opening the trash can, the waste inside was already mixed.

Abstract

Institut Teknologi Kalimantan uses a solid waste disposal system for waste management. Waste is being delivered straight to the dump (TPA) without any kind of processing or recycling. The goal of this research is to analyze greenhouse gas emissions generated from the current waste management practices at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan, as well as to evaluate emissions under Three alternative scenarios. The research method complies with IPCC 2019. Scenario 1 integrated landfilling with organic waste composting and a high recycling rate (RF: 80%). Scenario 2 involved waste incineration, organic waste composting, and a moderate recycling rate (RF: 50%). Finally, Scenario 3 focused on waste incineration combined with organic waste composting. The research findings indicate that paper waste is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in Scenario 0, accounting for 52% of the total emissions produced. Among the three scenarios analyzed, Scenario 3 generated the highest overall greenhouse gas emissions. In this scenario, waste incineration emerged as the predominant source, contributing 93% of the total emissions in Scenario 3. The types of waste contributing to greenhouse gas emissions in solid waste disposal under Scenario 0 are organic waste (food scraps), paper waste, and wood waste. Among these, paper waste produces the highest greenhouse gas emissions due to its high Degradable Organic Carbon (DOC) content. Based on the three scenarios, and assuming without considering economic aspects or control measures, waste incineration was found to produce the highest emissions compared to landfill disposal and composting.
