Abstract

Chef carp (Carassius auratus) is a freshwater ornamental fish that is one of the ornamental fish that is widely cultivated because it has a diverse body shape and has a variety of colors. The problem often faced by carp suppliers in the process of distributing fish with a closed fish transportation system is low survival pass. The use of such anesthesia materials is quite effective in closed transport systems. One of the natural compounds that can be used as an anesthetic agent is rotenon. The roots of tubal plants contain rotenon, a powerful poison for fish and insects. The method used in this study is an experimental method, this study uses Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 repeats. The dose of tubal root extract used was P1 (control), P2 (0.10 ml / L), P3 (0.15 ml / L), P4 (0.20 ml / L). The density of fish per plastic bag amounts to 10 heads with a transportation time of 9 hours. The parameters observed were length of intoxication time, survival rate, length of time recovered consciously, oxygen consumption rate and water quality. Giving doses of tubal root extract with different doses had a significant effect (P<0.05). The highest survival rate value in P2 treatment with a dose of 0.10 ml and saving the rate of oxygen consumption with the right dose is in P4 with a dose of 0.20 ml / L ranging from 0.039 mg O2 / minute.

The method used is a descriptive survey, namely sampling is carried out directly in the field. Based on the research results, the physical parameters obtained ranged from 26.33 – 26.67 ppt, temperature 30.43-30.86 oC, depth 113.33 – 120 cm, brightness 39.50 – 46.66, TDS 582.83 – 587.17 ppm, TSS 22.40 – 24.83 ppm. The chemical parameters obtained range from DO 5.56 – 6.76 mg/L, pH 7.71 – 7.89, alkalinity 162.37 – 184.94 mg/l, nitrate 3.72 – 4.22 mg/l, TAN 0.043 – 0.061 mg/l, phosphate 0.019 – 0.062 mg/l while the parameters that are not optimal are nitrite 1.39 – 1.52 mg/l. The biological parameters obtained by phytoplankton in ponds A, B and C were Chatoceros, Dinobryon, Lingulodinium, Nodularia, Oscillatoria, Planktothrix, Proboscia and cochlodinium species. Meanwhile, the zooplankton found in ponds A, B, C are Acartia, Nematodes and Nitocras pinipes.

Abstract

The urgency of this community service activity is the need for efforts to improve the economy of partners, one of which is by providing skills to partners to carry out freshwater lobster (LAT) cultivation activities that have a high selling price. LAT cultivation was chosen as one of the strategies to improve the economy of partners because in addition to the high selling price, LAT is also easy to cultivate and does not require a large area of land, so the community service team is sure that partners are able to carry out this LAT cultivation activity. The purpose of this activity is to provide skills to partners about LAT cultivation using gutters arranged like apartments so that the results of this LAT production can increase partner income. This community service activity is carried out in two stages, namely a pre-survey which aims to find out partner problems and discuss solutions and the implementation stage, namely socialization of LAT cultivation and training in assembling solitary system maintenance media using gutters. Based on the community service activities carried out in Muka Sungai Kuruk village, Aceh Tamiang, the participants were very enthusiastic about all the programs implemented by the team. In addition, partners also hope that there will be a continuation of this activity, namely training on LAT seeding.

Abstract

Indonesia could potentially benefit significantly from economically important lobster species of the Panulirus genus, particularly the painted spiny lobster (P. versicolor) and the white-whiskered coral crayfish (P. femoristriga). Effective conservation decisions relating to these species require detailed knowledge of morphological variation and genetic relationships, especially in Palu Bay, Central Sulawesi, which is broadly considered pivotal for lobster conservation management. In this study, we conducted morphometric and genetic analyses to examine diversity and population structure of P. versicolor and P. femoristriga. From May to November 2021, a total of 72 specimens were collected in Kabonga Village, Donggala Regency, consisting of 53 P. versicolor and 19 P. femoristriga. Using the truss morphometric method, we divided the lobster body into four regions and measured 24 morphometric characters. Despite shared external traits, our truss morphometric analysis indicated that the two species represent distinct populations. Genetic analyses were performed on representative samples (n = 2) using mitochondrial COI sequences, confirming their identity as P. versicolor and P. femoristriga. Although haplotype analysis revealed genetic variability, the analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) showed that the two populations shared genetic traits and had no significant genetic differences. Haplotype networks further indicated interconnections with more than one nucleotide substitution among haplotypes. Our findings demonstrate that although P. versicolor and P. femoristriga coexist in Palu Bay, they are morphologically distinct and require separate management and conservation strategies. These results provide baseline information for developing sustainable lobster fishery management in Central Sulawesi.
