Abstract

This article describes senior high school students' social skills in learning physics by applying the problem-posing approach. This study conducted by implementing a pre-experimental method of the One-Shot Case Study. The samples of this study were  38 students from XII Science class who chosen from a population of 240 students at grade X, XI, and XII at one of the senior high schools in Tapanuli Selatan. The data of students' social skills collected through observation sheets of social skills with five aspects of indicators, namely being consistent with doing tasks, encouraging participation, taking turns and sharing tasks, listening actively, and asking questions. The data analyzed by calculating the average score of students social from each indicator. The score of each indicator of the students' social skills was varied for every meeting, ranging from very high, high, moderate, low to very low, and so was the number of students for each criterion of social skills on each meeting. The results concluded that the profile of social skills in learning physics through a problem-posing approach revealed various levels of mastery of the students' social skills. The variety could be observed from the ability of social skills on each indicator and the number of students for each criterion of social skills in each meeting.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the improvement of cognitive ability through the implementation of guided inquiry and guided discovery model in integrated natural science learning. Alternative energy sources was chosen as the learning theme which contain Biology, Physic, Chemistry concepts, which consist of briquettes as the heat source, and battery as the power source. This study used quasi experiment method with matching only pretest posttest control group design. The subject of this study were 42 students of VII grade of Junior High School in Kampar District which consist of experiment and control class with 21 students in each class. Student cognitive learning outcomes was measured by multiple choice test instrument, which contain of 21 items which was done twice (pretest and posttest). The technic of data analysis was normality test and hypothesis test (U test). Data were analyzed by IBM SPSS 22 statistics and Microsoft Excel 2010 program. The N-Gain average of cognitive ability shows that there is an improvement of student cognitive ability in experiment class as 0,44 with intermediate category, and in control class as 0,21 with low category. While, the result of U test toward N-Gain value shows that there is a significant difference on student cognitive ability between students in experiment and control class. Thus, it can be concluded that guided inquiry model can improve student cognitive ability more than guided discovery model. Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the application of the Quantum Teaching model in ecosystem subject matter in class V SD Negeri 033 Hutabaringin. This research was carried out through the provision of actions with stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subjects of this study were 28 students at SD Negeri 033 Hutabaringin Mandailing Natal. The research data was collected through multiple-choice item test instruments. Observation sheets and documentation were used to collect data on student and teacher activities. Data from the research results of the first cycle 1st meeting obtained students completed, 13 students (46.42%) and incomplete 15 students (53.58%) with an average (68.92). Furthermore, in the first cycle of the second meeting, 18 students were declared complete (64.29%), and 10 students were incomplete (35.71%) with an average (of 70.71). In the second cycle of the 1st meeting, 22 students completed (78.58%) and 6 students (21.42%) incomplete and average (75), while the second cycle of the 2nd meeting completed 24 students. Students (85.71%) and incomplete 4 students (14.29%) with average (80). It is concluded that the use of the Quantum Teaching model can improve student learning outcomes in SD Negeri 033 Hutabaringin Mandailing Natal

Abstract

Proses pembelajaran IPA diidentikkan seperti cara para ilmuwan memperoleh teori atau konsep yang dikenal dengan metode ilmiah. Salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan pembelajaran IPA adalah Levels of Inquiry. Artikel ini merupakan studi analisis literatur yang mendeskripsikan tentang karakteristik Levels of inquiry dalam pembelajaran IPA serta hubungannya dengan keterampilan proses sains. Berdasarkan analisis literatur yang dilakukan, diperoleh hubungan antara pendekatan levels of inquiry dan keterampilan proses sains dalam pembelajaran IPA. Hal ini disebabkan karena pada tiap tahapan levels of inquiry melatihkan keterampilan proses sains yang berbeda sesuai dengan level atau tingkatannya, mulai dari level terendah yaitu discovery learning yang melatihkan rudimentary skills hingga level tertinggi hypothetical inquiry yang melatihkan advanced skills. Dengan demikian, Levels of Inquiry memiliki hubungan dengan keterampilan proses sains sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif pendekatan pembelajaran IPA untuk melatihkan dan meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains mulai jenjang pendidikan dasar,menengah hingga jenjang pendidikan tinggi.

Abstract

This article is a theoretical study to provide insight and understanding of webbed type integrated learning as one of the thematic learning approaches in MI / SD that are in line with the current 2013 curriculum.The webbed integrated learning is an integrated learning model that uses themes as the basis of learning by combining subject matter from multi disciplines or various subjects bound by one theme. Development of this approach begins by determining the specific themes that can be chosen between the teacher and the students, fellow teachers or students themselves. After the theme was agreed upon, it was followed by the selection of sub-themes with regard to their relation to other subjects. Furthermore, the sub-themes are planned for learning activities that students will do.The advantages of integrated learning webbed type for students is to obtain a complete view of the relationship of activities from different sciences.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in class III MI Panyabungan Model. The type of research used in this research is classroom action research (CAR) using Kurt Lewin's model which consists of four stages, namely the planning stage, the action implementation stage, the observation stage, and the reflection stage. The results showed that in the pre-cycle before the action, only 20% of the students who achieved completeness were. In cycle 1, meeting 1, after applying the contextual teaching and learning model, students who completed the KKM (70) were 5 students or (33.33%) while in cycle 1, meeting 2, students who completed the KKM (70) were 7 students or (46, 66%) . In the second cycle of meeting 1 learning using the contextual teaching and learning model of students who completed the KKM (70) as many as 10 students or (66.66%) while in the second cycle of the second meeting the students who completed the KKM (70) were 13 students with a percentage (86, 66%). So it can be concluded that the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model can improve student learning outcomes in science learning the material for changing the shape of objects in class III MI Panyabungan Model.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine how the guided inquiry model affected the science process abilities of university students who studied the basic concept of elementary school-level science. This study utilized a type of quasi-experimental research approach called a one group pretest-posttest design to examine the effect of treatment administered to one group before and after the treatment by a test of science process skills questions. Out of the 182 students enrolled in the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Study Program at IAIN Padangsidimpuan, 25 students from the fourth semester of 2022 served as the study's samples. Using a paired sample t-test and the SPSS 22.0 program, the study's findings showed that there was a difference in the science process skill scores of the students between the pre- and post-test results. It was discovered that the paired sample t-test had a significance value of 0.168, which was higher than 0.05. In conclusion, the guided inquiry model assisted with simple scientific KIT media was found to have a significant effect on the science process skill scores of students at PGMI IAIN Padangsidimpuan, especially about temperature and heat materials.  Keywords: guided inquiry, science process skills, simple science media kit

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the self-efficacy profile of pre-service teachers from the Islamic Elementary School Teacher Education Program at Universitas Islam Negeri Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary in Padangsidimpuan, specifically focusing on their science teaching self-efficacy. Using a descriptive quantitative research design with a survey method, the study utilized a 26-item self-efficacy questionnaire. The data were analyzed descriptively, calculating the average percentage of students who demonstrated self-efficacy for each criterion within the corresponding indicators. The research involved 180 out of 207 fifth-semester students enrolled in the 2024/2025 academic year. A Google Form survey, structured according to the Science Teaching Self-Efficacy Belief Instrument (STEBI), assessed two key indicators: Science Teaching Outcome Expectancy (STOE) and Personal Science Teaching Efficacy (PSTE). Modifications were made to align the indicators with the specific context and characteristics of the participants. Additionally, a small group of respondents was interviewed. Findings revealed that 14.2% of students strongly agreed with the PSTE criterion, while 54.9% agreed. For STOE, 20.7% strongly agreed, and 51.1% agreed. When combining both indicators, 68.9% of students exhibited a high level of self-efficacy in PSTE, and 71.8% in STOE. Overall, the majority of aspiring MI/SD teachers demonstrated high self-efficacy in their science teaching abilities.Keywords: MI/SD pre-service teacher students; self-efficacy; science learning

Abstract

Validity refers to the degree or level of accuracy of a research instrument used to measure a variable and serves as an essential component in the development of instruments. This study aims to determine the construct and content validity of the science process skills (SPS) test instrument for the Science Learning course in the MI/SD Teacher Education Program at the State Islamic University of Sheikh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary, Padangsidimpuan. The research method employed is a descriptive quantitative-qualitative approach, with data collected using observation sheets for the assessment of the SPS test instrument by two validators. The data from the validators' assessments were analyzed using Gregory's Test formula to determine the instrument's validity level. The results show that 13 SPS test items received validator assessments in the range of scores 3-4, categorized as highly relevant, with an overall validity score of 1 (one). Therefore, it can be concluded that the 13 test items of the science process skills instrument on the topic of temperature and heat possess a very high level of validity.
