Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan workbook pada tema sistem transportasi untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP Kelas VIII. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and development (RnD) Thiagarajan dengan desain penelitian kuasi-eksperimen. Tahapan penelitian ini terdiri dari tahap 1 define; tahap 2 design; tahap 3 development; tahap 4 dissemination. Aspek keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada kerangka kerja Robert H.Ennis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa workbook yang dikembangkan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan perolehan N-gain berturut-turut sebesar 0,68 dan 0,66 yang termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan uji dampak, diperoleh nilai 1,57 untuk peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis sehingga termasuk dalam kategori efektif. Berdasarkan data di atas dapat disimpulkan, workbook yang telah dikembangkan ini efektif meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP kelas VIII.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the improvement of cognitive ability through the implementation of guided inquiry and guided discovery model in integrated natural science learning. Alternative energy sources was chosen as the learning theme which contain Biology, Physic, Chemistry concepts, which consist of briquettes as the heat source, and battery as the power source. This study used quasi experiment method with matching only pretest posttest control group design. The subject of this study were 42 students of VII grade of Junior High School in Kampar District which consist of experiment and control class with 21 students in each class. Student cognitive learning outcomes was measured by multiple choice test instrument, which contain of 21 items which was done twice (pretest and posttest). The technic of data analysis was normality test and hypothesis test (U test). Data were analyzed by IBM SPSS 22 statistics and Microsoft Excel 2010 program. The N-Gain average of cognitive ability shows that there is an improvement of student cognitive ability in experiment class as 0,44 with intermediate category, and in control class as 0,21 with low category. While, the result of U test toward N-Gain value shows that there is a significant difference on student cognitive ability between students in experiment and control class. Thus, it can be concluded that guided inquiry model can improve student cognitive ability more than guided discovery model. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen yang digunakan untuk menilai keterampilan meneliti siswa kelompok ilmiah remaja pada program riset autentik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan yang terdiri dari define, design, develop dan tahapan diseminasi. Selama tahap define, dilakukan uji validitas konten dan konstruksi terhadap soal keterampilan meneliti. Kemudian, konstruksi soal tes dikembangkan dan direvisi. Uji coba diberikan untuk dianalisis dengan validitas dan reliabilitas internal. Hasil penelitian ini berupa seperangkat instrumen tes keterampilan meneliti yang terdiri dari 7 aspek keterampilan meneliti yang diadaptasi dan dimodifikasi dari matriks assesmen pengembangan keterampilan meneliti (RSD) dari Willison O’Regan kemudian dikembangkan menjadi 10 pertanyaan untuk mengukur aspek keterampilan meneliti, yaitu Identifikasi masalah, Merumuskan masalah, Merumuskan hipotesis, Membuat rancangan/desain penelitian, Mengumpulkan data, Menganalisis data, dan Membuat kesimpulan. Soal disajikan dalam konteks wacana memuat permasalahan limbah pabrik tahu. Hasil validasi ahli dan uji coba menunjukkan bahwa kesepuluh pertanyaan tersebut valid dan reliabel. Demikian hasil dari studi ini merekomendasikan penggunaan instrumen tes ini untuk penelitian dalam mengukur keterampilan meneliti pada program riset autentik.Abstract: This study aims to develop an instrument used to assess the researching skills of students in the youth scientific community in an authentic research program. This study used a research and development method consisting of define, design, develop and dissemination stages. During the define stage, a content and construction validity test was conducted on the research skill questions and then the construction of test questions was developed and revised. The given trial was analyzed by internal validity and reliability. The results of this study were a set of research skills test instruments consisting of 7 aspects of researching skills; Identifying the problems, Formulating the problems, Formulating hypotheses, Making research designs, Collecting data, Analyzing data, and Making conclusions; which is adapted and modified from the Willison O'Regan's research skills development assessment matrix (RSD).  That result was developed into 10 questions to measure the aspects of research skills which were presented in the discourse context regarding the problem of tofu factory waste. The results of the expert validation and trials showed that the ten questions were valid and reliable. Accordingly, the results of this study recommend the use of this test instrument for research in measuring research skills in authentic research programs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali informasi dan menganalisis profil awal tentang kemampuan komunikasi ilmiah peserta didik. Hasil penelitian ini digunakan untuk merancang program dalam mengembangkan model komunikasi ilmiah dalam Kegiatan KIR terintegrasi pembelajaran berbasis riset. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian eksploratif menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes Kemampuan Komunikasi Ilmiah (Tes KKI) dengan indikator kemampuan komunikasi ilmiah meliputi: 1) kemampuan membuat grafik/tabel; 2) kemampuan mendeskripsikan tabel/ gambar/diagram dalam bentuk informasi verbal; 3) kemampuan menginterpretasi; dan 4) kemampuan membuat kesimpulan berdasar data yang tersaji. Data hasil tes kemampuan komunikasi ilmiah dianalisis secara deskriptif yang dikategorikan menjadi tiga kategori yaitu: 1) dapat menjawab dengan lengkap dan disertai penjelasan logis; 2) dapat menjawab tetapi tidak lengkap (tanpa disertai penjelasan logis); 3) tidak menjawab dan tidak ada penjelasan logis. Sejumlah peserta didik anggota KIR Sekolah Menengah Atas di kabupaten Kuningan terlibat dalam penelitian ini dipilih secara purposif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan komunikasi ilmiah masih berada dalam kategori kurang, persentase KKI pada masing-masing indikator masih berada pada angka dibawah 50%.

Abstract

Learning from home is less effective, so teachers are required to be able to plan learning activities that are simpler, creative and effective. Project Based Learning (PjBL) is one of the learning models that recommended by the government. In order to combine contextual with project assignments, achieving 21st century skills is carried out through the implementation of the PjBL model with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) approach that is carried out at home. This study aimed to obtain information on the application of STEM from home with the PjBL model to mastery of concepts and creative thinking skills. This study used an experimental method without using a control group (Pre-Experimental) with a "One Group Pretest-Posttest Design" design by analyzing N-gain based on differences in learning outcomes before learning (pretest) and after learning (posttest). The research participants were 30, seventh grade junior high school students. Mastery of concepts and creative thinking skills as a result of implementation through STEM from home was measured by instruments in the form of a multiple choice test with 15 questions and an essay with 5 questions. The research was conducted in three times online meetings. The results showed that the application of STEM from home with the PjBL model obtained the N-gain value of students with a high category of 43% in mastery of concepts. Meanwhile, on the ability to think creatively, the N-gain value of students in the medium category was 63%. Thus the application of STEM from home with the PjBL model could improve students' mastery of concepts and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study was aimed to develop a Three-Tier Diagnostic Test instrument to identify students' alternative conceptions about Food Chain Feeding Relationships. This instrument was developed based on stages of development proposed by Treagust. This study involved 102 students of grade VII. There were 4 students included in the interview, 28 students answered the open-ended questions, and 70 students were involved in the implementation of instrument developed. The instrument items' content was then validated by five expert judgment. The analysis showed that the Content Validity Ratio and Content Validity Index value for nine items was 1, while an item acquired 0.6 value. This indicated that Food Chain Feeding Relationships Diagnostic Instrument (FCFRDI) is valid and feasible to be tested on students. The test result data were analyzed using the Rasch Model to determine the item fit and reliability. The difference between item reliability value and the person reliability demonstrated a significant result, which means that the instrument developed has good item quality. Overall, it can be concluded that the FCFRDI developed has met the content and empirical validity so that it can be used to identify students misconceptions.

Abstract

Materi perkuliahan yang dipelajari dalam biologi sel meliputi struktur sel yang ultramikroskopis. Untuk mempermudah dalam mempelajarinya, maka banyak disajikan ilustrasi gambar. Kegiatan praktik seringkali mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memperoleh dan memproses informasi berupa gambar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengumpulkan informasi mengenai representasi mental (RM) mahasiswa yang dihasilkan saat membaca diagram struktur membran plasma. RM mahasiswa diukur setelah mengikuti pembelajaran biologi sel yang dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan VARK. Analisis RM dilakukan pada 31 orang mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi semester 3 pada tahun akademik 2018/2019 yang mengikuti perkuliahan biologi sel di salah satu perguruan tinggi di Jakarta. Intrumen penelitian berupa lembar kerja yang merupakan modifikasi model pengukuran RM dengan Protokol CNET untuk mengukur RM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pola dan kualitas RM yang berbeda untuk setiap siswa. Pola yang terbentuk didominasi oleh pola 2 kontrol umpan balik dengan satu pengukuran (38%). Adapun persentase skor RM untuk kategori sangat baik 29%, baik 19%, cukup 23%, kurang 10%, dan sangat kurang 19%.

Abstract

Skarifikasi berfungsi untuk mengurangi hambatan mekanik biji sehingga mempermudah biji dalam melakukan imbibisi yang dapat mempercepat pematahan dormansi yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan daya hidup atau berkecambah dan daya kecepatan pertumbuhan biji peria. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh skarifikasi mekanik melalui pengamplasan dan skarifikasi kimiawi melalui perendaman larutan HCl dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda terhadap vigor dan viabilitas pada biji peria (Momordica charantia). Penelitian terdiri atas beberapa tahap, yaitu persiapan biji peria yaitu dengan dilakukan perlakuan seperti pengamplasan dan pengimbibisian dengan HCl. Kemudian dilakukan pembibitan, yaitu penanaman biji peria menggunakan media tanam sebanyak 3 kali ulangan. Pertumbuhan biji diamati tiap harinya dan dicatat panjang radikula yang muncul. Data pengamatan kemudian diolah menggunakan Uji Anova melalui aplikasi SPSS. Didapatkan bahwa skarifikasi mekanik (pengamplasan) dan skarifikasi kimiawi (pengimbibisian menggunakan HCl) memberikan pengaruh yang tidak signifikan terhadap viabilitas dan vigor biji peria. Skarifikasi mekanik dan kimiawi berpengaruh positif terhadap viabilitas dan vigor biji, sedangkan penggabungan perlakuan antara skarifikasi mekanik dan kimiawi berdampak negatif bagi viabilitas dan vigor biji.

Abstract

One of the exciting topics in the socio-scientific issue is cloning. This issue is seen as a debatable issue in religion and science. In the practice of science learning in class, Biology teachers are required to be able to present this topic proportionally. This research aims to study how the arguments of Biology teachers in Islamic organization-based senior high schools in Indonesia face the cloning issue of sacrificed animals. This research was conducted in three Islamic organization-based senior high schools. This research uses the qualitative method by observation process on the learning of cloning topic in the class, questionnaire, and an in-depth interview with Biology teachers of XII grade from the three different schools in Banten Province, Indonesia. Results of the research show that related to the cloning issue of sacrifice (Qurban) animals is not only related to the religious aspect; there is the existence of specific argumentation patterns in the mind of the teachers. The designs are presented in the frameworks of economic (Organization A), social humanity (Organization B), and knowledge (Organization C). These three frameworks of organization give the primary colors for each teacher's argumentation. Thus, further studies must explore the effects of Islamic organizations on the arguments and the practice of cloning topic teaching at Islamic organization-based senior high schools.

Abstract

A Green School is an environmentally friendly educational program designed in such a way as to create a meaningful learning experience. learning environment contributes to the development of students' scientific literacy skills. The involvement of students in nature or environmental-based learning can increase students' sensitivity to the relationship between humans and the environment. Therefore, Green School was chosen as a way to teach environmental material. Using the Pre-post Experimental Group Design research design that was applied to SMPN students on the interaction of living things, the results showed that students who learned to use the Green School-based inquiry model experienced a significant increase in their scientific literacy skills. It is hoped that there will be further research on environmental learning using Green School-based inquiry, so that references can be obtained in developing students' scientific literacy skills in the future.
