Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with a rising incidence in Indonesia. One important effort in controlling diabetes is proper dietary management, yet many patients still do not understand the principles of a diabetes diet. This community service activity aims to improve patient knowledge about diet management through counseling at the Tamalate Community Health Center. The implementation method included material delivery, discussion, healthy menu simulations, and pre- and post-test evaluations. The activity was held on August 23, 2025, with 35 diabetes patients participating. The evaluation results showed an increase in participant knowledge after the counseling session, as well as a positive response to the method used. The daily menu simulation was considered very helpful in helping participants understand the implementation of a diabetes diet. It can be concluded that this counseling session effectively increased patient knowledge about diet management. Follow-up in the form of ongoing nutritional support is needed to support patient behavior changes in diabetes management.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, major changes occurred in all aspects of life, requiring every individual to adapt to new situations and this led to various psychological problems, one of which was increased anxiety. This also has an impact on patients with chronic renal failure or chronic kidney disease (CKD) who have to undergo hemodialysis in the hospital, so to overcome anxiety, the role or support of the family is needed. This study was to determine the correlation between family support and anxiety in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design was correlation research with cross sectional design. The population is CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at Bhayangkara Hospital and Labuang Baji Hospital Makassar, totaling 51 people. Sampling was done by consecutive sampling. The number of samples is 45 respondents. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire which was an adaptation of the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale instrument and a family support questionnaire developed by Nursalam. Validity and reliability tests were carried out on 30 respondents and obtained the results of the questionnaire r value on all statement items ranging from 0.397 - 0.924, (r count> r table) and Cronbach alpha value of 0.903, it was concluded that all statement items on the anxiety level questionnaire were valid and reliable to use. For the family support questionnaire, the r value on 20 statement items ranged from 0.619 - 0.927 with a Cronbach alpha of 0.961 so it was concluded that the questionnaire was valid and reliable to use. The data in this study were analysed using SPSS Version 22 software. Statistical tests using the Gamma correlation test showed a p value = 0.001 and an α = 0.05 (p < α) and a correlation value of 0.752. Based on the results of statistical tests, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between family support and anxiety in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing haemodialysis during the COVID-19 pandemic and shows a strong correlation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This risk factor is sleep quality. Poor sleep quality can provide a greater likelihood of hypertension and ischaemic brain tissue. People who have poor sleep quality have a higher average systolic blood pressure than people with good sleep quality, based on existing theories that increased blood pressure or hypertension is the cause of haemorrhagic stroke. This study aims to analyse the correlation between sleep quality and the incidence of hemorrhagic stroke in patients at RSU Kota Tarakan. This study used. Quantitative Research with an analytic observational approach, the research design was Case Control. The population was stroke patients at RSU Kota Tarakan. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The number of samples was 45 people, with a ratio of case groups to control groups 1: 4, namely 9 people in the case group (haemorrhagic stroke patients) and 36 people in the control group (ischaemic stroke/NHS patients). Data were collected using the PSQI (Piitsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire and medical records.  This study was conducted in July - August 2023. Based on statistical tests using the alternative chi-square test, namely Fisher Exact, the results obtained p value = 0.239 then p>α (0.05). Based on the results of statistical analysis conducted, it can be concluded that there is no significant correlation between sleep quality and the incidence of haemorrhagic stroke in patients.
