Abstract

Hypertension is high blood pressure with systolic values above 140 mmHg and diastolic values above 90 mmHg. Ear acupuncture and gotu kola tea are nonpharmacological treatments that can be used to treat hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ear acupuncture therapy with a combination of gotu kola tea on changes in blood pressure in cases of hypertension in Kemandungan Village, Tegal Barat Subdistrict, Tegal City. This study used a research design "Quasy-Experimental Design" with the method of two groups-pretest posttest design. The number of research subjects was 30 people with a purposive sampling technique, which was divided into a control group (ear acupuncture) and an experimental group (ear acupuncture combined with gotu kola tea brewing). The Mann-Whitney test results obtained a significant value of p <0.05 (p = 0.014 and p = 0.013) then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted so that it can be interpreted that there is an effect of ear acupuncture therapy with a combination of gotu kola tea brewing on changes in blood pressure in cases of hypertension in Kemandungan Village, Tegal Barat Subdistrict, Tegal City with a 6% change in systole and 3% higher diastole than the control group

Abstract

Low back pain is a musculoskeletal disorder that affects the muscles, bones, joints, and connective tissues, potentially impairing function and reducing quality of life. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of acupuncture therapy with red ginger steeping on pain scale reduction and functional improvement in patients with low back pain. A quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach was used, involving 32 participants selected through total sampling at the Jakarta Hajj Dormitory from October 2023 to May 2024. Participants were divided into two groups: one receiving acupuncture therapy alone, and the other receiving a combination of acupuncture and red ginger steeping. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test yielded a p=0.010, indicating a significant improvement in pain scale and Back Pain Functional Scale (BPFS) scores in both groups after the intervention. The findings suggest that the combination of acupuncture and red ginger steeping is effective in reducing pain and enhancing functional ability in patients with low back pain.

Abstract

Hypertension is high blood pressure with systolic values above 140 mmHg and diastolic values above 90 mmHg. Acupuncture therapy with a combination of rosella tea steeping is a nonpharmacological treatment that has been shown to have an effect in lowering blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of acupuncture therapy with a combination of Rosella tea steeping on changes in blood pressure in cases of hypertension in Krajan Hamlet, Mojosongo. This study used a "Quasi-Experimental Design" research design with a nonequivalent control group design method. The number of research subjects was 32 people with a purposive sampling technique, which was divided into a control group (consumption of rosella tea brew) and an experimental group (acupuncture combination of rosella tea brew). The results of the Mann-Whitney test obtained a significance value of p<0.001, so Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. In conclusion, acupuncture therapy with a combination of rosella tea brewing shows significant results in reducing blood pressure in cases of hypertension in Krajan Hamlet, Mojosongo.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypercholesterolemia is a condition where the cholesterol levels in the blood exceed normal levels. One of the non-pharmacological therapeutic treatments for patients with hypercholesterolemia is acupuncture therapy and providing nutritious food intake. This study aims to determine the effect of acupuncture points at ST 40 (Fenglong), SP 6 (Sanyinjiao) and avocado juice on reducing total cholesterol levels in cases of high cholesterol in Duwetan Ngunut JumantonoMethods: Design of this researchQuasy experimental with the two groups pretest-posttest design method. January - August 2023 in Duwetan Ngunut village, Jumantono, Karang Anyar. The sampling technique was Purposive Random Sampling of 38 research subjects. Data collection uses primary data, namely the results of measuring total cholesterol levels. Research analysis consisted of univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Results:There was an effect of acupuncture therapy at points ST 40 (Fenglong), SP 6 (Sanyinjiao) (p=0.0018) and a combination of avocado juice (p=0.0001) on reducing total cholesterol levels. There was a difference in the reduction in total cholesterol levels after being given the intervention (p=0.007) in the acupuncture therapy group (Mean= 219.79; SD= 39.35) and the avocado juice combination acupuncture group (Mean= 181.63 SD= 36.63).Conclusion:There was a decrease in total cholesterol levels after being given acupuncture therapy at points ST 40 (Fenglong), SP 6 (Sanyinjiao) and a combination of avocado juice in the Duwetan Ngunut Jumantono village community.

Abstract

Background: Suboptimal breastfeeding accounts for 45% of deaths. Various treatments can be done to increase the amount of breast milk production, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological. One of the efforts that can be done to increase the rate of secretion and production of breast milk is through the use of traditional herbal medicines such as katuk extract (Sauropus androgynus). Acupuncture significantly improves exclusive breastfeeding. Acupuncture therapy can be done to increase the hormone prolactin in breastfeeding. Objective: To determine the difference between acupuncture therapy and katuk leaf extract on increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers in Duwetan, Ngunut, Jumantono, Karanganyar. Time and Place: April-May 2021, at Duwetan, Ngunut, Jumantono, Karanganyar. Subjects: The research sample taken was 40 mothers who were in the breastfeeding phase in Duwetan, Ngunut, Jumantono, Karanganyar. Methods: This study is a experimental study with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group design. Statistical test using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using independent t-testResults: After the intervention, milk production (based on baby's weight) in the acupuncture group was higher (Mean= 4.029,50; SD= 392,33) than in the katuk leaf extract group (Mean= 3.450,50; SD= 405,08). There was a difference in breast milk production in the acupuncture group and the katuk leaf extract group (p<0,001). The administration of acupuncture increased milk production significantly with an effect value (ES = 1,45) compared to the administration of katuk leaf extract. Conclusion: There is a difference between acupuncture therapy and katuk leaf extract on breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers.
