Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Anemia is still a public health problem in the world and in Indonesia. WHO (2008) reported more than 75% of anemia in Asia is iron deficiency and 63.5% anemia in Indonesia is caused by lack of nutrition. Previous studies described that lead (Plumbum /Pb) can decrease hemoglobin levels. Sriwedari markets’ book sellers and Solo Wholesale Center’s street vendors are susceptible populations exposed to Pb as a result of motor vehicle exhaust. Approximately 70% of Pb in vehicle exhausts emissions are emitted into the air. This study aimed to analyze the effects of Pb exposure on blood Pb concentration and hemoglobin levels. This study was a quantitative observational analytic study with cross sectional design conducted in 2015-2016 at Sriwedari Market. Samples were 97 respondents obtained through random sampling and Spearman correlation was used for data analysis. Result showed that there were association between Pb exposure in the air and blood Pb levels (p=0,000; r=0,606) and blood Pb levels and hemoglobin levels (p=0,000; r=-0,623)

Abstract

Background: Smoking is a well-known major risk factor for premature death from cancer, cardiovascular disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. When a pregnant woman smokes, she puts herself and her baby at risk. This is because the developing fetus / baby in the mother's womb is in contact with the mother's bloodstream. Any chemical that the mother inhales or swallows can affect the fetus. This study aims to analyze the magnitude of the effect of active smoking on pregnant women with preterm labor by means of a meta-analysis study.Subjects and Method: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis carried out by follow

Abstract

Background: Ectopic pregnancy is an important cause of maternal morbidity and mortality, estimated to occur in approximately 1-2% of pregnancies worldwide. Smoking and history of using intrauterine devices are risk factors for ectopic pregnancy. This study aims to estimate the magnitude of the relationship between smoking and a history of using intrauterine devices on the incidence of ectopic pregnancy based on a number of previous primary studies. Subjects and Method: This study is a systematic review and meta-analysis. The articles used in this study were obtained from several databases, including: PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct which were published from 2000-2020. The inclusion criteria used are full text articles with Case Control design. The keywords used to search for articles were as follows: smoking AND "ectopic pregnancy" AND multivariate; "use of intrauterine device" AND "ectopic pregnancy" AND multivariate; smoking OR cigarette AND “use of intrauterine device” AND “ectopic pregnancy” OR “tubal pregnancy” AND multivariate. Articles were collected using PRISMA flow diagrams and analyzed using the Review Manager 5.3. Results: A meta-analysis of 7 articles showed that women of reproductive age who smoked had a 2.20 times risk of ectopic pregnancy compared to women of reproductive age who did not smoke (aOR= 2.20; 95% CI= 1.45 to 3.34; p= 0.002). A meta-analysis of 9 articles showed that women of reproductive age with a history of using intrauterine devices had a 2.28 times risk of ectopic pregnancy compared to women of reproductive age who did not use intrauterine devices (aOR= 2.28; 95% CI= 1.74 to 2.98; p<0.001). Conclusion: Smoking and a history of using intrauterine devices increase the risk of ectopic pregnancy.
