Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic forces governments to close schools and adapting to distance learning. This research article aims to expose the effectivity of distance learning on Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) subject for students living in oil palm plantation areas in three villages in North Sumatra. Data was collected by conducting surveys, interviews and documentation study from October to December 2020. Data were analyzed using an interactive model. The result shows that civic education distance learning is ineffective because: (1) the limitation in supporting technology for distance earning and internet access cause limited connectivity with civic education learning resources; (2) civic education distance learning is dominated by task work activities; (3) learning tends to be monotonous because of minimal creativity and innovation; (4) minimal quality of parental assistance because the communication between teachers and parents is not well-established; (5) students find it difficult to understand civic education learning material. The unsatisfactory learning process and outcomes during the distance learning cause 60% of respondents consider civic education distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic was ineffective. Keywords: Pancasila and Citizenship Education Course, distance learning, students in plantation areas ABSTRAK Pandemi Covid-19 memaksa pemerintah untuk menutup sekolah dan beradaptasi ke pembelajaran jarak jauh. Artikel penelitian ini bertujuan memotret efektivitas pembelajaran jarak jauh (PJJ) pada mata pelajaran PPKn. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tiga desa di wilayah perkebunan sawit di Sumatera Utara. Data dikumpulkan dengan melakukan survei, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi selama bulan Oktober hingga Desember 2020. Data dianalisis dengan model interaktif. Penelitian menunjukan PJJ mata pelajaran PPKn tidak efektif pelaksanaannya karena: (1) keterbatasan perangkat teknologi pendukung PJJ dan akses internet menyebabkan keterbatasan keterhubungan dengan sumber belajar PPKn; (2) PJJ PPKn didominasi aktivitas pengerjaan tugas; (3) pembelajaran cenderung monoton, minim kreativitas dan inovasi; (4) kualitas pendampingan orang tua rendah karena komunikasi guru dengan orang tua tidak terjalin; (5) siswa sulit untuk menguasai substansi materi pembelajaran PPKn. Proses pembelajaran dan pencapaian hasil belajar yang tidak maksimal selama PJJ PPKn tersebut menyebabkan lebih dari 60% responden menganggap PPKn Masa Pandemi Covid-19 tidak efektif. Abstract

Citizenship Education is a scientific discipline that aims to form citizens who know and carry out their rights and obligations based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. In the era of globalization, this education is becoming increasingly important for the younger generation to face challenges such as moral crises, individualism and low nationalism. Through a qualitative approach, this research examines the role of Citizenship Education in shaping nationalism and the character of the younger generation. The results show that this education can instill a spirit of nationalism, strengthen a sense of patriotism, and develop digital skills, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility. Citizenship education also plays a role in building character based on Pancasila values to form a young generation that is ready to face global challenges.

Abstract

This literature review explores the relationship between professional ethics and exemplary behavior from the perspective of Pancasila values, which are relevant in addressing the complexities of modern professionalism. Various moral issues, such as abuse of authority, weak integrity, and the crisis of exemplary behavior, demand a stronger ethical foundation rooted in the nation's noble values. This study uses a conceptual approach based on literature with a critical analysis of the literature on professional ethics, Pancasila values, and the practice of exemplary behavior from figures. The novelty of this article lies in the integration of professional ethics with Pancasila, which is not only positioned as a normative guideline, but also synthesized into a conceptual model of Pancasila-based professional ethics that emphasizes the integration of moral values, social responsibility, and exemplary behavior from figures. The main synthesis of the study confirms that the revitalization of Pancasila values ​​strengthens the moral foundation of the profession while offering a practical ethical framework that is contextual, adaptive, and relevant to global challenges. The practical implications of this study are the importance of implementing Pancasila-based professional ethics in professional education, character development of the younger generation, and the development of ethical leadership capable of building a society with integrity, justice, and civility.

Abstract

Era digital memudahkan masuknya budaya asing, yang berpotensi mempengaruhi sikap nasionalisme siswa, terutama akibat penggunaan media sosial yang tidak bijak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran guru Pendidikan Pancasila dalam penguatan sikap nasionalisme siswa di era digital SMK Swasta PAB 12 Saentis dan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi menurunnya sikap nasionalisme siswa di era digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penelitian kualitatif dengan, pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data (display), dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru Pendidikan Pancasila di SMK Swasta PAB 12 Saentis berperan penting dalam memperkuat nasionalisme siswa di era digital, peran diwujudkan sebagai edukator, motivator, leader (pemimpin), inovator, dan fasilitator melalui keteladanan, penggunaan media, serta pendekatan yang menyentuh ranah afektif dan psikomotorik siswa. Penguatan sikap nasionalisme dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal, seperti lingkungan keluarga dan sosial, serta faktor eksternal berupa arus globalisasi dan budaya asing yang masuk melalui media digital. Namun, peran aktif guru dan dukungan sekolah mampu menyeimbangkan pengaruh negatif tersebut, sehingga siswa tetap menunjukkan sikap nasionalisme yang positif di tengah tantangan era digital.The digital era facilitates the entry of foreign cultures, which have the potential to influence students' nationalism attitudes, especially due to the unwise use of social media. This study aims to determine the role of Pancasila Education teachers in strengthening students' nationalism attitudes in the digital era of SMK Swasta PAB 12 Saentis and to determine the factors that influence the decline in students' nationalism attitudes in the digital era. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation study techniques. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation (display), and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that Pancasila Education teachers at SMK Swasta PAB 12 Saentis play an important role in strengthening students' nationalism in the digital era, the role is manifested as educators, motivators, leaders, innovators, and facilitators through role models, use of media, and approaches that touch the affective and psychomotor domains of students. Strengthening nationalism attitudes is influenced by internal factors, such as family and social environments, as well as external factors in the form of globalization and foreign cultures that enter through digital media. However, the active role of teachers and school support can balance these negative influences, so that students continue to demonstrate a positive nationalistic attitude amidst the challenges of the digital era.
