Abstract

The escalating environmental crisis has demanded not only policy reform and technological advancement, but also a fundamental shift in the way economic value is created. This study explores green entrepreneurship as a transformative and innovative strategy to address ecological degradation while fostering sustainable economic growth. Through a multidisciplinary lens, we conceptualize green entrepreneurship not merely as environmentally friendly business practices, but as a disruptive force capable of reconfiguring market dynamics, consumer behavior, and socio-ecological systems. Drawing upon emerging frameworks in sustainable innovation and systems thinking, this paper proposes a novel typology of green entrepreneurial models that integrate circular economy principles, community-based innovation, and regenerative practices. Our analysis reveals that green entrepreneurs are uniquely positioned to bridge institutional gaps, catalyze grassroots movements, and scale systemic solutions to environmental challenges. The study concludes with policy recommendations aimed at fostering an enabling ecosystem for green entrepreneurship as a core pillar in the transition toward a low-carbon, resilient, and inclusive economy.

Abstract

Green entrepreneurship plays an important role in economic transformation towards a sustainable development model. This study explains the application of green entrepreneurship and its impact on economic improvement. The adoption of environmentally friendly business practices, such as renewable energy, waste management and eco-friendly products, has opened up new opportunities for sustainable economic growth. Through the creation of new jobs, improved resource efficiency, and stimulation of innovation, green entrepreneurship has helped improve the competitiveness of firms in the global market. Government policy support, both in the form of fiscal incentives and supportive regulations, has accelerated the adoption of green business practices. The positive influence of green entrepreneurship is also reflected in the consumption of consumers who increasingly prefer sustainable products and services. This creates new markets and drives economic growth in sustainable sectors, such as renewable energy and green technology. The importance of partnerships and collaboration between the private sector, government and non-profit organizations is also highlighted in this study. This collaboration accelerates the development of new sustainability-focused industries and creates more efficient supply chains. By considering environmental risks and building businesses that are resilient to climate change, green entrepreneurship has proven that environmentally responsible business practices can positively contribute to long-term economic growth.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the level of food security and household welfare of coffee farmers in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province, within the context of sustainable regional development. The research involved thirty purposively selected coffee farmers through household surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs). To determine the components influencing food security in households, the analysis employed an ordinal logistic regression model. The results revealed that 46.7% of households were classified as food secure, with the average energy adequacy rate among coffee farmers reaching 82.9% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) established by WKNPG 2012. The level of food security was significantly affected by household income and the education level of the housewife at confidence levels of 95% and 90%, respectively. Conversely, household size, food prices, and food access had no significant effect. According to this study, improving food security and the welfare of farmers within the framework of sustainable regional development must be accompanied by enhanced educational capacity and household nutritional literacy, as well as income diversification to strengthen the resilience and welfare of coffee-farming households.
