Abstract

This study aims to find the relevance of the natural resource curse and good governance hypothesis in ASEAN economies post-financial crises 1998. Employing Generalized Method of Moments (GMM), this study finds that good governance practices (Control of Corruption, Political Stability, and Voice and Accountability) play a role in the ASEAN economies after the great financial crisis. Thus, the hypothesis stating that good governance practices will improve economic development is confirmed. On the other hand, the observation of the natural resource curse hypothesis in ASEAN countries returns mixed results. The hypothesis states that natural resource abundance is associated with lower economic performance. This study finds that dependence on the natural resource by itself does not affect GDP. However, the natural resource curse occurs when countries with bad governance (low Control of Corruption) depend on agriculture resources. On the other hand, the natural resource becomes a blessing when the countries that rely on agriculture resources are supported with good governance practices in terms of strong Government Effectiveness, Political Stability, and Voice and Accountability.  Thus, the effect of natural resources on economic development depends on the quality of governance. This paper highlights the importance of observing the natural resource and good governance in interaction instead of in isolation and the relevance of disaggregating the indicators of good governance as well as natural resources.

Abstract

The main objectives of this study were to understand how group dynamics can influence a group's ability to resolve conflicts and to identify the internal and external factors that influence a group's ability to resolve conflicts. The method used in this research is a literature study. Literature review is a study that examines or critically evaluates knowledge, ideas and findings in academically oriented literature and formulates theoretical and methodological contributions on a particular topic. The results of research using literature review include the definition of conflict, the origin of conflict, types of conflict and conflict resolution techniques. Conflict can arise because one party or one party feels disadvantaged. This loss can be material or non-material. Group dynamics an effort to accelerate the dynamics of all participants and led training groups so that the group becomes more dynamic and the goals and objectives of training become more effective, efficient and quality. Conclusion In conflict resolution, it is important to find solutions that integrate different interests and encourage cooperation. Constructive cooperation and the ability to compromise can help achieve a more satisfactory outcome for all parties. Keep in mind that each collective conflict has its own dynamics and no one approach can be generalized.

Abstract

Government openness in managing the economy can stimulate growth, but carries the risk of policy misuse. This study analyzes panel data from 139 countries between 2012 and 2023 to examine the relationship between economic openness and corruption, as measured by the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). The findings reveal that key factors such as government integrity and financial freedom significantly influence CPI scores across countries with varying income levels. Nations characterized by flexible business regulations, transparent governance, strong legal protection of property rights, and stable monetary policies tend to exhibit lower levels of public sector corruption. However, the analysis also shows that financial freedom in high-income countries and investment freedom in upper-middle-income countries are negatively associated with CPI scores. This suggests that excessive liberalization—particularly in investment—without adequate regulatory oversight can increase corruption risks, likely due to limited transparency in capital flows and foreign investment practices. In contrast, when properly managed, the recognition of property rights, government integrity, and investment freedom are instrumental in reducing corruption in many middle-income countries. The study highlights the importance of strengthening government integrity, particularly in delivering public services and regulating an open economy. By ensuring effective and efficient oversight, countries can enhance their CPI scores and reduce the potential for corruption.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate effective strategies for improving teacher service quality through a multi-factor approach, namely Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), interpersonal communication, organizational climate, and work motivation. Teacher service quality is an important indicator in the continuous improvement of education quality. The research method used is a quantitative approach with an explanatory causal design. Data were collected through questionnaires administered to teachers from various educational levels and analyzed using path analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that OCB, interpersonal communication, organizational climate, and work motivation significantly and simultaneously influence the improvement of teacher service quality. OCB acts as a mediating factor that strengthens the influence of other variables on service quality. The practical implications of these findings highlight the importance of strengthening organizational culture, interpersonal communication training, and reward and motivation systems to promote teacher professionalism. An integrative strategy based on strengthening organizational behavior and a humanistic approach is recommended as a model for improving teacher service quality in the Indonesian educational context.
