Abstract

Tulisan ini adalah hasil penelitian arkeo-epigrafi, yaitu inskripsi huruf Arab pada mimbarmasjid raya disebut huruf serang, yaitu huruf Arab dalam bacaan bahasa Bugis yangbermakna tentang seorang perintis pembangunan masjid raya Watampone Bone. Ia adalahLa Mappanyukki Raja Bone ke 32 dan ke 34 pada tahun 1940. Masjid ini juga memilikiragam hias bangunan berciri Timur Tengah berpadu dengan seni bangunan lokal Bugisdisertai dengan hiasan tulisan kaligrafi Arab yang berisi tentang aya-ayat, hadis, kata-katahikmah, dan nama-nama tertentu dan masyhur yang ditulis oleh seorang kaligrafer Mesirbernama Syekh Abd. Aziz Albah. Adapun kandungan makna ragam hias tersebut adalahseruan Islam untuk memahami kandungan dan intisari ajaran Islam yaitu; penguatantauhid yang kokoh dan penegakan syariat Islam yang kuat, menyeimbangkan kehidupanduniawi dan ukharawy.Kata kunci: Inskripsi Arab dan Ragam Hias

Abstract

This article aims to examine media coverage of COVID-19 and the resistance of the Indonesian people. This research is a legal sociology study that discusses the public's response to government policies regarding the Covid-19 vaccine with an Islamic legal approach. The data is analyzed using critical discourse analysis. This study concludes that community resistance to vaccines has a relationship with online media content. News content of victims who died after the vaccine, information about vaccines that impact the human body to become sick in the long term, and information about raw materials or contents of the Covid-19 vaccine that are not halal, indirectly have implications for the community resistance. This refusal was mainly due to information about victims who had been vaccinated experienced vaccine failures, especially from social media such as YouTube, WhatsApp, and Facebook, which are sometimes difficult to justify. According to Islamic law, people should be careful about content and news regarding Covid-19 because it may not be accurate. Therefore, the government needs to provide solutions in various ways. First, the government oversees all social media in conveying information so that all news related to the COVID-19 vaccine needs to be more careful and wisely not to worry the public. Second, the government needs to re-strengthen media regulations or news coverage that doesn’t seem to work optimally. Moreover, the government's vaccine policy aims to prevent the danger of the virus, which guarantees the safety of people's lives, and it is part of maqâshid al-syarī'ah. Likewise, the government has involved the MUI, which has authority in the field of religious fatwas, so that the certainty that the vaccine is halal can be accounted for in Islamic law.

Abstract

Albeit the studies on Matan Jurumiyah Book have been extensively conducted, few studies have been focusing on the critical content of Kitab Matan Jurumiyah. To fill the gap, this research aims to examine why Matan Jurumiyah Book is not applicable for novice Arabic learners. To collect the data, observation and in-depth interviews were conducted. The results of the study show that the material of the Matan Jurumiyah is not relevant to be used for the novice learners due to (1) the conciseness and condensation of the book contents, (2) the lackness of Arabic basic knowledge, (3) the raising of new problems for novice learners because of the number of syarah or explanation over the Book of Matan Jurumiyah.  That empirical evidence was anchored to the internal and external factors. Internal factors are closely related to the dichotomy of syntax and morphology while external factors are related to the absence of consideration of the Indonesian context and are arranged in a deductive way. Therefore, this study recommends empirical, contextual, and policy implications for the readers.

Abstract

This study examines the use of patriarchal language in the verses of family law in the Quran, which, despite their masculine structure, contain messages that favor female. The study employed a multi-method design that combined critical content analysis with linguistic (lughawī), gender, and Islamic law approaches. In Islamic studies, multi-methods can be called interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. The data were based on literature studies and in-depth interviews. This study concludes that from a linguistic perspective, the use of ḍamīr in the Quran is an emancipatory strategy, not to perpetuate patriarchal domination. By addressing men who have historically held social and cultural authority, the Qur’an educates them to be aware of injustice and act as agents of change, while encouraging female to recognize and fight for their rights. From a gender perspective, two main characteristics were found: first, the dominant use of male pronouns (ḍamīr muzakkar), which position men as the primary interlocutors, and second, the existence of several privileges attributed to men. Furthermore, this research offers important implications for Arabic language learning pedagogy. Teaching Qur’anic verses needs to be based on a contextual and gender-sensitive approach so that students not only master the linguistic aspects but also understand the socio-cultural dimensions inherent in the text. Communicative and discourse-based methods are recommended to encourage students to analyze lexical choices, metaphors, and pragmatic functions of Arabic that can both reinforce and challenge patriarchal traditions. This approach not only enhances linguistic competence and critical literacy but also equips students with an awareness of justice and equality from the perspective of Islamic family law. Thus, Arabic language learning serves as a medium for social transformation while strengthening moral awareness.

Abstract

Although research on Arabic reading skills among students has been widely documented, few studies discuss this issue from the geographical perspective of Islamic universities. Thus, this study aims to analyze the form of guidance and strategies for developing Arabic reading skills among students of Islamic Universities in South Sulawesi. This research uses an explanatory case study research design. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews with interested parties. Data analysis uses grounded theory. The findings showed that the form of fostering kitab kuning (Islamic classical texts) reading skills among students includes the selection of appropriate curriculum and syllabus, the use of the latest pedagogical approaches, activating mentorship, the use of peer learning, the use of multimedia and visual data sources, and the use of supporting and parallel texts. In addition, the results also show that the strategies for developing kitab kuning reading skills among students include the involvement of university stakeholders, the use of integrative learning methods, the creation of student dormitories, and increased budget allocations. This research implies the importance of a coordinated and integrated approach in designing and implementing educational strategies that educate, inspire, and empower students. In addition, the findings also offer important insights into ways that educational institutions can improve learning effectiveness and better prepare students for their future.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the creativity of teachers in utilizing the school environment as a learning resource in the early grades of MI Amir Al-Jannah Tippulue. This research is a qualitative research with a case study type involving six students and four teachers. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were obtained and analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis with three stages: data reduction, describing data, and making conclusions. The results showed that the form of teacher creativity in utilizing the school environment as a learning resource for early grade students was seen from the teacher's ability to introduce the environment to students, introduce objects found in the school environment, and prepare learning resources that students could learn. There are also factors supporting and inhibiting teacher creativity in utilizing the school environment as a learning resource for early grade students seen from a conducive environment for students to learn, adequate school facilities so that students in learning can focus on something they are learning. Inhibiting factors such as the limited time experienced by the teacher during the learning process in the school environment and students who are less focused while studying in the school environment because they are busy playing. The importance of teacher creativity in utilizing the school environment because students see firsthand something they learn so that the learning process is more meaningful, interesting, and fosters student learning activities.
